This topic has been discussed by alot of people out there but still there is no generally accepted answer.

I think there is no true friendship between guys and girls,What type of love the owner of chicken has for the chicken?.When the so called friendship between a guy and a lady is so strong they dont hide anything between themself they can discuss anything without feeling its weird,and from there love will set in,although they may lie to themself that they are just friends but deep down in their hearts they feel that urge of love and lust.But because of the fear of loosing the so called friendship that is between them if things go wrong they will keep living in like that thereby deceiving themself.

It is expected that once the two opposite sex starts getting close and Tag themselves #besties, before long, other things sets in which is best handled by talking things out and reminding yourselves that you are still just friends, if it is ignored, you will become friends with benefits (yet you'll say to others, i cant date him, hes my best friend, whereas, things happen at the background)
When love set in - You discuss it and see if you guys are ready to move unto the next level

All am saying is that each time some emotions start setting in, discuss it and do not ignore it, you can really be close with the opposite sex with no strings attached.

I enjoy having a male close frnd,we can compare views nd all dt but I won't pick someone im attracted to as a male bestie.. having a male bestie is cool really, my male bestie is way more cool headed than my sharp mouthed bestfriend, im sure she'll attack me when she sees this...male bestie for the cool laid back convos nd female for the gossips, scheming etc...lol. ps my bestfrnd is super cool, Cnt do without d fiesty witch gal...

lie.....opposite sex cannot be bestie. at the long run, feelings steps in.
its only those that can pretend who can successfully hide the feelings just for a while.
come to think of it, the so called besties, how do we correlate it with their relationship with their boy/girl friend.
in other words, besties are just friend zone tinz. it is a means of backup in case plan A fail.
