Look at the character of those who oppose tithing....

It is clear from their utterances that many of them lack the spirit.

Glory be to God because we do not have spirit of cheating others as well as preaching false doctrine

Happy New Year!

I am glad that Christ has kept me until today; not because of my vocabulary in praeyer but His love endureth forever.

When Paul wrote to the Galatia Churches in Galatians 3,he calls them foolish Gatians; Gal 3:1.The reason why he called them this way is because they were accepting ungospel ways to live the gospel. The word gospel is two Greek words; god + spel. The word god means good and the word spel means news.therefore gospel means good news. What is good about saying that if people do not give tithes God will curse them?I believe God is the best planner.Do we believe that in heaven there will be a queue for those who did not tithe. For example if a person is unemployed for five years with what is s/he supposed to tithe with?

Let learn to reason with the Truth, who is Jesus and not our emotions.Read Galatian 3,we are not under the Law.

Surely Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the day of my Life . I need not pay tithe. But I shall dwell in the house of the lord forever. Not for free because the house shall be maintained by me at my own WILL.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by KZ: 4:37pm On Jan 16, 2006
Hello holder!

The money for taking care of the church does not come from the tithe. The tithe is for Levites as God said it clearly read Number and Deutoronomy.these wiil enlighten you that wwe are in error to ask the tithe from Christians.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Hndholder(m): 4:45pm On Jan 16, 2006
I am a Nigerian , why should I pay tithe to Levites ?   Who will represent ARON when paying?
Tithing in Nigeria for sure, It is a corrupt practice We need not pay it. But can we give? At one own free will as truly born again?

For whatever we sow we shall reap it it a law in nature it is of the Lord.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by chrisd(m): 4:55pm On Jan 16, 2006
The bible clearly teaches that giving is a necessary part of being in close relationship with God. But one needs a joyful heart. If some pastor thinks that that it is not what he expects me to do, it is not my problem.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Hndholder(m): 5:24pm On Jan 16, 2006
Given should be joyful . Yes not forcefully.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Hndholder(m): 5:34pm On Jan 16, 2006
Tithing is never a joyful activity. QED Forced on captive set of people. Purely immoral
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by chrisd(m): 5:40pm On Jan 16, 2006
It is like Tax.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Hndholder(m): 8:27am On Jan 17, 2006
Tax is good and better than tithe for the public can benefit , they also have a say in case of mis-management.

Today most founders of churches have their wife and children as Director in the registration instrument. is like we are just paying them salary from the little left for us. Double taxation.

From the little the weak one earns, it shall be taken away from from them.........
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by goodguy(m): 2:02pm On Jan 17, 2006
Those who pay tithes are not complaining. It's you who doesn't pay that is lamenting here.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by chrisd(m): 2:04pm On Jan 17, 2006
Well, it depends. Suppose your spouse does not agree. What do you do then?
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Hndholder(m): 2:09pm On Jan 17, 2006
Because they are under bondage. It is a self inflicted injury. Why will they complain slaves will only obey the last order without questioning! I never send them to pay tithe Abi..
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by chrisd(m): 2:21pm On Jan 17, 2006
That's why some churches make it very difficult for people in the congregation. A church in London stopped a couple from marrying because they belonged to different denomoination. I suppose it was because one of the churches (the pastor) would loose that tithe (MONEY). The interesting thing about the church finances is that the pastor's wife manages them and consider it a gift. Good if you want to avoid any responsibilities from the law if it was like a commercial establishment. We can call it Ministry of Money
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by donnie(m): 3:53pm On Jan 17, 2006
Dear HND,

Where do you do this free will giving that you are talking about?

In what church? ...if i may ask. Under whose pastoral authority have you submitted yourself?

To what congregation do you belong and function?

Thank you.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Hndholder(m): 3:59pm On Jan 17, 2006
I belong to the ANGLICAN church not one man church . Grail message is just a book not religion .
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by chrisd(m): 4:10pm On Jan 17, 2006
Me ANGLICAN too. But not all Anglicans are the same. Some require tithing
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by donnie(m): 4:37pm On Jan 17, 2006
But you have a pastor don't you?

Because many of those churches you cll one man churches are not one -man churches as such.

They are pastored by an apostle of God. Workers are raised and sent out to win souls build and also send. So it is not a one man show at all.

Our man of God had long ago seized to recieve salary from the church. He lives by the Word and he is the biggest giver we have. As such, he is always loaded and ready to give.

Right from when he was a young lad from a rich home, he left the comfort of his home into the streets and villages to preach the gospel. His peers thought he was mad and some laughed at Him. He and a few friends of his used their pocket monies to print tracks, hold crusades, buy bibles and so on. They abbandoned all at the feet of Jesus. This was in the seventies and eighties when it wasnt fashionable to preach. They did not even recieve offerings then.

Now, is it good for you to accuse such a man of stealing people's money?

I remember one of our crusades at Benin city where over 1.5 million people attended. Several banks came around the venue with bullion vans ready to recieve offerings. To their supprise, no offerings were collected. Meanwhile, it cost over 50 million niara to hold that meeting.

When you carpet all of God's servants as theives, be careful because the God before whom they stand is listening.

Just like its mainly women who don't suffer from spousal abuse who are the main ones who do advocacy work in that area.

Those who suffer seem to be the most quiet. For many, they don't think it is wrong. There is nothing new about that.

A lot of Pentecostal churches are 'one man shows' usually with a very charismatic leader. The influence they have over their members is such that you might as well call them by their real name; cults

By the way Donnie, i noticed you mentioned christ embassy in an earlier post, so i assume thats the church you attend. My younger sister attends this church as well. She's a student here in London and works part time, she's always broke because she has spent most of her money on tithe and church pledges.
Now this 'poor' student has to bother 'non tithe paying' me for money all the time. I did tell her to ask her church for money since she gave it all to them but apparently they don't provide loans to members as most of them don't pay it back.
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by allonym: 2:18am On Jan 18, 2006
i thought in the bible, if you did not make up to a certain amount, you did not pay tithes?

This is one reason I don't think most churches have the tithes thing right. If you are going to tell me that the tithing part of the old testament still applies though you would say that Jesus' coming frees us from the "Law" then why not tithe exactly the way the bible says we should. If I cannot afford to tithe, according to the old testament, I shouldn't be tithing.

2. sympathetic: feeling or expressing sympathy or empathy, especially because of something that has happened
//I felt sorry it had to end that way.
Don't start feeling sorry for yourself.

3. pitiful: pitifully bad or neglected

4. very bad: pathetically or contemptibly unsatisfactory

Is good you are sorry for misleading people on tithe I have accepted your apology. Rise up now and do good stop collecting tithe. Okay

1. used as apology: used as an apology for hurting, interrupting, or inconveniencing somebody

SAY you're sorry to apologize to tithe payers and Nairaland community

Hnd-holder, what is the meaning of this "nonsense" preaching to a 21st century task master.

It's like asking someone to give up his/her paycheck simply because the collection of that work is not according to God's true command.

People will continue to enforce tithe payment as long as some people fail to wake up from the mentality that they can bribe God. To them God is just the normal human being that need money for His existence. To them God is a Face2Face Pool service (the amount you play (oh tithe) with determine your winnings (sorry i mean blessing))
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Hndholder(m): 10:47am On Jan 18, 2006
Thank you. The taskforce master on tithe did not know what to say again, he just admitted that he is sorry. for fooling people with simple interpolation. God is never mocked
Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by donnie(m): 12:17pm On Jan 18, 2006
What makes you guys think i collect tithes.

Are you amazed at how convinvced one can be about the truth of God's word? Must i stand for the Word only when i have some material gain? I believe the Word of God ...not only that part that is easy to obey or that suits my sense knowledge.

I cannot imagine not paying my tithes because i know what i have gained over the years as a result of walking in obedience.

I am no longer in control of my life or finances...God is. And as such, i can never be broke or disadvantaged in my life!
