Hi all,
While travelling to the UK on a visitor visa from Nigeria, is a transit visa still required flying from France with AirFrance? Anyone did this recently?

Restaurant92:
Really? They requested they drop passport? Is it for a visit visa? I went with a family member last week and didnt drop passport. The process was extremely fast. Spent less than 10mins.

They tried to solicit to carry out the E-Visa online registration for the person but we declined and stated we'll do it ourselves.
Oh no they haven’t gone yet. Last time they had to drop their passport so when they told me that they did not pay for courier this time. I was worried and tried checking how I could do that quickly. Glad to know it’s no more needed.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by 27autumn: 7:47am On Apr 13
Restaurant92:
Nope. Your passport is not retained. You take it back with you.
No more courier. Visa is electronic and assessed online.

2 Value Added services VFS has been making money yanked off. I hope they wont start playing games with appointment slots to nudge people to be paying for their flexi and premium lounge appointments.
Thank you so much

Hi,
Did your MIL submit her passport though she got evisa? Mine has got appointment later today and I was just told they hadn’t paid for courier services for return.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by 27autumn: 7:18am On Apr 13
Hi all,

Are people still requested to drop passports at VFS even with the evisa switch?
If yes, how do one pay for courier services?

Regards

Good morning
My spouse's student visa is expiring in 2 weeks and we applied for him to switch to be a dependant on my student visa yesterday.
How many days does it take for the visa to be approved? We didn't see any where to pay for priority when applying.
What happens if his visa expires before the new one is out? Can he still stay without working until he gets it?

Good morning, please assist.

MA has gotten her visa. For the husband and child to go for biometrics together at TLS VI
1. do they pick flexi while booking their respective appointments?
2. If yes, do they need to pick flexi on both applications or just one and then the other can be any regular date
3. Or do they pick regular dates and then take the child along on one of those days and pay for walk in with their card there?

I have a relative in the UK on student visa. While filling my form, I was asked what type of visa it is. Is student visa temporary or permanent?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by 27autumn: 2:25am On Apr 30, 2023
How many months maintenance fees do you need if your course is for 2 years? Also do you mean I should have double of that for my POF or just for my living expenses.
MatrixReloaded:
Better safe than rejected. You can liquidate funds but ensure you apply after 28 days and also if you are studying within London it's 1300 gbp and its advisable to have double of it per month. While outside London is 1050gpb and its advisable to have double of it. For 9 months if your studies is 12months and also check your balance fees outstanding, aside your ihs, and visa fee payment.

When you have meet your own Pof, also make sure you have same equivalent amount for any dependent that may wish to accompany you
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by 27autumn: 2:18am On Apr 30, 2023
Thank you so much

1. If he's applying after I've landed, what do I put in the application when asked If I'm applying with any dependents?
2. if he has stayed in the UK for 12 months already, does he need to show POF when applying?

duchess90:
Hello

1.Your husband should switch when you have gotten your visa and arrived the UK

2. No 1 answers that

3. It depends 3weeks standard,it could be shorter

4. He must have applied before his current visa expires

Cheers

Yeah, thank you.
He's completing his BSc, so couldn't join him on his visa route
Plus if he still has the chance to go back for his MSc if sponsorship doesn't work, I think.

Bourne007:
Just out of curiosity...

How come you don't come in as a dependant? I ask because couples tend to switch to a study visa as a last resort if sponsorship doesn't work out before a Graduate visa ends.

Also, hope you are aware that if he switches to a dependant visa, he will no longer be qualified to apply for a Graduate visa.

Good evening, please advise

My husband is currently a student in UK, I'm in Nigeria. I'm resuming School in UK this August as well and we wish for my husband to switch to a dependent visa. How do we go about that?
1. Do we apply at the same time, I in Nigeria, He in UK?
2. Do I apply first, get my visa then he applies?
3. How long does it take to switch from student to dependent visa take in the UK?
4. Must he have switched to dependent before his current BRP ends in September, or he only needs to have applied for his new visa even if his new visa is not out yet?

Thank you

Thank you so much.
If he is going to apply later, what would be his proof of home ties by then?
Do we say he's coming to visit? Won't they say he should apply for visit visa instead?

I'm trying to prepare ahead while waiting on responses from schools. Would be glad if anyone can help with these.

How many months bank statement is used for the US student visa?
If the planned money is currently in both my account and my Husband's pounds account, who do I write as sponsor and do I need to show both for I20 and visa?
I'm the student, will.my husband be given F2 visa if his employer in nigeria is allowing him work remotely and he's also running his Dad's company by the side as home ties. I'll be adding my own home ties. Just concerned about his, since we want to travel together

Hi,
Do you know if I can pay to upgrade my checked in baggage to 32kg at the airport? That's paying for extra weight.

No worries
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by 27autumn: 6:11am On Feb 01, 2023
Okay, thank you.
Have you flown them from lagos before or do you know someone who has?
Aliyu40:
BA does not weigh hand luggage at all. It can any kg but the dimensions of the bag has to be suitable for the cabin

dduchess90:
Hello

You can't do a 23kg in cabin.

Please go for 7kg

Cheers
Thank you. Will reduce it just to be on the safer side
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by 27autumn: 7:27am On Jan 31, 2023
Thank you. Does a small box work? It's smaller than the size indicated on their website and weighs just 12kg. I'm already carrying a school bag with my laptops in it.
jorez:
it's 23kg but it must fit into a small space like regular backpack will be ok
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by 27autumn: 7:21am On Jan 31, 2023
Thank you.
I don't intend to carry up to 15kg sef. Just wanted to be certain my 12kg small box wasn't too much. Before i reach there and they tell me it's 7kg capacity in Nigeria.
semmyk:
Na cabin Dem call am now, no bi storage. E supposed be hand luggage for cabin. Haba, why u wan do 23Kg. Mba.
Be it as it may, BA are generally liberal 😉. They are not too fuzzy on your cabin bag. Yet, don't overstuffed. Also, don't opt for large size bag. Don't put raw foods.
By the way, although not fail-proof (abi na fool-proof self, the English), print the page off the BA site from your PC /laptop, and screenshot on the phone as well. Make una start 'bind and cast' those airline workers from now till you lift off 😀😆😄

Has anyone flown/knows someone who has flown British Airways from Lagos to UK? I would like to know what the cabin luggage capacity is. The site says 23kg for cabin as well as 23kg for checked in but I haven't seen this before on any other airline. What I see most times is 7-12kg.
I don't want the Nigerian airline workers to bounce my hand luggage.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by 27autumn: 5:30am On Jan 31, 2023
Thank you.
Here says cabin bag is 23kg as well. I havent experienced this on any airline. Im worried that the Nigerian airline workers will disprove that and say i can't carry that.
Do you know anyone who has experience travelling on British Airways from Lagos?
dduchess90:
Hello

Here's a link to check baggage allowance on BA,put the destination Los(Lagos) and LHR(Heathrow) and the dates to confirm

I believe you are allowed 2 *23kg Max and a carry-on (cabin bag)

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by 27autumn: 9:20am On Jan 22, 2023
No, not as other income or savings. I only have one income source and I declare that. I only declared my savings account balance in my letter to show where my expense would be coming from.

AskGod07:
Autumn you mean you declared the balance on the savings account you intended to use for travel as your SAVINGS ? where they asked OTHER INCOME OR SAVINGS?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by 27autumn: 5:46am On Jan 20, 2023
No, i didn't declare my personal account as savings. I only declared the balance on the savings account i intended to use for travel.
Salary+allowances is 800ish, expense- 200 to 300
AskGod07:
Thanks, your info is really helpful. How much is your salary and how much you spend monthly? Sorry for too much questions? Lastly do you declared your total balance in your personal account as your saving on your application ?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by 27autumn: 10:33am On Jan 19, 2023
AskGod07:
Wow that sound great and luck for you, Is your total budget of 1.37M is within your 2 month disposable income ? How much do you allocated for your flight ticket 2 ways ?

Yes my budget was just about 2 months disposable income. My flight was about 700k. I'm not paying for accommodation since I'm staying with my husband.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by 27autumn: 7:51am On Jan 19, 2023
.
Total budget was 1.37M for 20 days trip. I did a daily itinerary as well, researched places to visit and did a budget breakdown as well. Opening and closing balance was about 200k each but I submitted my savings account as well, with more than enough in it.

Documents
Husband passport, BRP and school I'd
Letter of invitation from husband with consent to accommodate and his tenancy agreement
Employment letter and letter of intro from employer
Merged cover letter, renumeration statement, payslips, savings statement and salary statement together in that order
Then submitted cover letter separately again.

Note. My account was in chaos, so I had to explain alotttttt, basicly everything from how my salary and even expenses wasn't consistent, my lump sums and debits over 200k that are not expenses.

AskGod07:
Wow wow I’m very very happy for you autumn, pls if I may ask how much you stated as your travel cost? Do you draw a budget for your travel cost ? What’s your closing balance and opening balance ?

Pls can you list all the doc submitted autumn
