It is their nature. igbos are adventurous in nature. they like to travel and conquer whatever new location they find themselves. that's the igbo man for you.

this however does not justify building in another man's land and not building in your own land.

No way in hell there is 3 million Igbo people living in Northern Nigeria; because if there were, it would be reflected during elections in the North. The only place outside of Igbo land where you find many Igbo people living is Lagos. Igbo people number in excess of 1.5 million there, which is still relatively small.

The only reason why Igbo people are visible in the North and anywhere else we inhabit, is because we're business people. Which puts us out there, in the faces of the people we live amongst.

Almost every member of my family owns a business, including all my aunties and uncles. How many members of your family are business owners?

That aside, most of the richest Nigerians, were able to mass such great amounts of wealth due to favourable government policies and not necessarily good business acumen. That’s why the wealthiest Nigerian is from Kano, despite the fact that Kano has the largest number of beggars in Nigeria, with a populace that are anything but entrepreneurial.

The Obasanjo administration made Dangote what he is today, that aside, have you ever heard of the saying “the exception is NOT the rule”. You can’t rebut my argument by bringing up 10 wealthy Nigerians that are not Igbo, and use that as proof that somehow Northern Nigerian’s are better at setting up businesses and making money. Everyone and your grandmother know that isn’t true.

As I said before, the fact that, the local shop owner down the way is an Igbo person is what makes us more visible, not the preposterous idea that 10s of millions of Igbo people live in the North, who…during elections time seem to suddenly disappear.

You are severely ignorant about your own country.

Google Sharada Industrial Estate to get a glimpse into the enterprise of the Kano man.

These are people that were making and selling tie and dye clothing to international businessmen while your kind were still roaming in the bushes.

Dangote is ONE man, so all his wealth goes towards the betterment of him and his family. Of course, a situation where the wealth of Dangote is spread across 10 million people would be so much better, as it would help alleviate poverty and create an overall higher standard of living.

That aside, Dangote is considerably richer than the wealthiest Dane despite Denmark having the highest standards of living on planet earth.

I don’t know how anyone could brag about having one wealthy man, in the mist of so much poverty.

Swedes and Danes were amongst the most primitive and savage people in the entire world, today they run the wealthiest and most serene nations on earth.

How you start is irrelevant, it’s how you finish that matters. That Northern Nigeria may have had a more advanced civilisation 150 years ago means very little, because Northern Nigeria today is amongst the most impoverished regions on planet earth.

Nigeria as a whole is one of the most impoverished regions in the world, and the North is just a subset of the whole, albeit a more pronounced one because of its greater population.

Remember Northern Nigeria also has the wealthiest band of citizens in Nigeria from business to politics, as confirmed by Forbes.

Well that simply isn’t true. Northern Nigeria is exceptionally poor, with the largest number of children outside of school (in the entire world), amongst the lowest literacy rates, with limited health care and job opportunities, all of these factors adversely contribute to the large number of beggars found in that region.

As I said before, the number of wealthy Northern Nigerian’s can be counted on two hands. Whereas the number of rich and/or successfully Igbo people numbers in the hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions.

What’s the point in having 10 wealthy billions in the mists of tens of millions of poor people? Having thousands or even millions of people that may have in excess of a hundred thousand in their bank accounts, illustrates a dramatically higher standard of living amongst said people; I don’t know how else to explain this to you – it really isn’t that complicated.

That report said HUNDREDS not millions, again if there were millions of Igbo people in Northern Nigeria, then logic denotes that it would be millions of people fleeing potential violence in one of the most backwards and volatile regions on earth.
