It is not a true representation of the image of Jesus and it doesn't matter that it is not. Same people that criticise the concept will go to South Africa and take pictures under Mandela statue. Same people will take pictures of Luther in the USA. Same people graced the unveiling of GEJ statue in Bayelsa 1 Like |

Missmossy:don't just write it off give it a thought, read those scriptures he quoted again and again quietly than sincerely ask God for the truth... you will discover indeed God is spirit and should be worshiped in spirit not by referencing him through statues... peace |

Your reasoning tho. Does erecting a statue within the church premises mean that the congregants are worshiping it? If I may ask, the photographs and crucifixes of 'Jesus' inside the auditorium of some pentecostal churches nko? Is that Jesus? Nwannaa, leave trash for Lawma biko. 'Ubochi nta ka achua n'owere nchi'. Our people say that if you start probing for the maggots inside the belly of a fish, you won't eat your meal. 1 Like |

Nice write up. It's time to abolish all these imported religions. We need to develop our traditional religion, at least with the widespread Christianity and Islam all we have is chaos , anarchy and regression so what's d use? An average pastor or imam will still patronize the traditionalist but the traditionalist will never go to a pastor or imam so who is fooling who? 3 Likes |

did they announce in the ceremony that people should come and bow ton the statue to pray? though I do not agree with the face of the Jesus , I believe if the real face was used it would be good to have a statue of Jesus. |

The truth is that we do not know what Jesus looked like because He did not want us to know what He looked like. Jesus wanted us to worship the Spiritual God who is The Father and not a physical form.Honestly, You've said it all. No further need for more bickering |

What most of you don't know is that jesus is alive not dead and he appears to people from time to time which we call apparition and which are thoroughly verified by the church eg divine mercy and sacred heart devotions.so please stop displaying your ignorance by saying'who has ever seen jesus' 2 Likes |

Proud to be a catholic. You have any question about my faith? Come to my catechism class. I don't have energy to engage some fundamentalists here in an unproductive argument. For more than a thousand year these arguments have been going but thank God while those that put them forward keep changing, the Church remain the same one holy, catholic and apostolic. 5 Likes |

There is one thing every catholic family knows which others don't know. And it is deadly buried inside our hearts. Those, criticizing catholics, are you well learned more than we do. Do you read the bible more than our priests do, can you be more catholic than the pope for example. GOD works in a marvelous ways, isit not the same God who commanded Moses to hung a snake on a stick anybody who looks at the snake gets healed. Hypocrites! Trying to make points out of nothing ! Tell me more about that one. 4 Likes |

all these protestants self......... 1. the bible you are even quoting was compiled by the same catholic church you criticise...soo how will you have knowledge about the bible more than those that compiled it? 2. The catholic church you say "worship" statue have been in existence since 363 a.d bible figures like peter, john etc where alive and witnessed most of these practises...so do you know more than them? or do you think God will allow the same church to exist all through the centuries if they are "deceiving" people with their doctrines? 3. And i will say it like the 1 million time...CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP STATUES!!!! haba!! statues, images, relics of dead saints are things that help us to remember those people, what they meant to us...you watch movie you see people pick a picture of someone that died whom they love and weep are they worshiping the picture? and if you call it idol worshiping i believe some of your pastors go to some villages and burn down shrines and deities...why haven't they entered any catholic church and conduct "deliverance" by burning down those statues 4. in that same bible God himself ordered moses to put a serpent up on a pole so anyone who looks up to it can be healed, soo did God made his people worship the serpent?? 5. and is not rational thinking for christ to order people to make a statue of him when he was on earth, he preaches from place to place...we never hear that he had alot to feed those that followed him soo at that time how will you be making a statue of someone that you walk about the whole country with - preaching?.....when Ojukwu died people decided to make a statue as a make of reference for him and what he stood for...now imagine him when he was alive telling people to go and make a statue of him? what will people say about him? 5 Likes |

muhakeem:wow, it only means you don't know what your Islam really teaches....I am not in any away supporting the Catholic..because truly theit practice is not what Jesus taught and most of their beliefs does not have its root from the Bible ...but to be proud of Islam/Quran.....? and the known extremist issues.. well from your Heart call upon the creator of the universe to show the truth about himself and you'll be amazed what the truth is because it's only in Christ |
