I consider myself to be an introvert, and there seems to be a misconception that we dislike people and socialising but I'd like to say that's totally untrue. I enjoy meeting new people and going out, but I also really need alone time to recharge my batteries. If I don't get it I feel drained, tired and irritable. I dislike big parties and tend to blend into the background in a large group, however I do enjoy meeting up with people in smaller groups. If you were to meet me you'd probably not even realise I'm introverted, I'm not shy, I'm chatty and good at small talk etc. all of the things that extroverts think we are not.
I feel that we introverts are discriminated against a bit. People make the assumption that we are rude and anti social when it's far from the truth, we may blend into the background and get drowned out by the loud extroverts at parties but we also notice things that they don't. I've lost count of the amount of times I've noticed subtle behaviours and looks that my more extroverted friends and family have completely missed.
Also why is it that so many jobs now have personality tests which are quite obviously designed to screen out introverts? Surely a happy work place would have a balance of extroverts and introverts? Too many of the same personality type would surely cause clashes? Is it because we wouldn't throw ourselves into the more social side of things? Because that's not true of me, sure I'd have problems if we had socials and team building exercises every single day of the week, but every now and then would be no problems and I'd happily get involved. We didn't create ourselves to be introverts, God did
Are there any other introverts on here who feel the same way that I do?

Really ?

The stereotypical view of an introvert I would have is that they are usually very intelligent and shy. And when you get to know them it's almost like you "unlock" the most amazing personality.
