That still doesn't change the fact that we produce far less than we actually need. Duh! asEdeyHOT: Lol. I'm still waiting for you to counter the claim of how much electricity we generate. DropShot: I wonder what people like you use to think, who unbundled power holding, who put the current structures on ground. Has this administration done any jack on power sector apart from increasing tariff with increased epileptic power supply. Congratulations you have learnt a new world INEFFECTUAL BUFFOON. scofieldsimba: My brother, you are not alone o. They took our light on 1st Feb. 2016 to commence with the tarrif increment and the light has not blink up till this moment. Unfortunately, we don't have prepaid meter. Meaning that we will still pay for the darkness which started since the beginning of the month. So I don't know what to really say. 1 Like |

Ephemmm: I commend him for his honesty though he didn't achieve it. Not like this blatant lies set before us when it's obvious that I spend more money buying petrol for my generators these days. Plss stick to the topic. Don't digress. Talk about the present. You guys have voted for change and we want to see it. |

abbey621: At the bolded, do you really mean this I mean a supposed adult in Nigeria is saying this What comes 1st generation or consumption How can you say the basis of comparison is consumption Can you consume what you don't generate Besides, if you add up all the electricity generated through generators in Nigeria then you will know 5000mw is just scratching the surface. They really need to do better cos 5000 is nothing to be proud of for a population of over 170million. |

This thread is swarming with zombies. Buhari has not invested a single kobo in the power sector. He has not commissioned even a generating set not to talk of a power plant and people are all over the place shouting Sai dullard. |

Nigerians are definitely getting wiser now after playing the fool at the most critical period ,they are now waking up to the consequences of their follies in 2015,hopefully they will not repeat the same mistake in 2019 |
Re: Nigeria Hits 5,000MW Power Generation Mark by abbey621(m): 9:03pm On Feb 04, 2016 |
uzolexis: If you believe generation weighs more than consumption when it comes to electricity then you are deeply misguided. As much as we like to think that we consume a lot of electricity in this country, it's just a fraction compared to countries like Brazil, China, USA, Canada and so on. For example, Americans consumes 3 times more energy than they were in the 1970s in response the government pursued alternative forms of energy and increased the amount they generate. This is how advanced countries work, no country generates electricity without factoring in the average amount of electricity consumed. A country like Brazil can afford to generate 60 to 90,000kwh due to the consumption in the country and the supply to neighboring countries. Demand and supply my friend! Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying 5000MW is enough for Nigeria, I'm just saying the government is responding to more demands and with time they'll surely generate more. |
Re: Nigeria Hits 5,000MW Power Generation Mark by cuteboy2: 9:39pm On Feb 04, 2016 |
Propaganda megawatts. All in the pages of newspaper. Tomorrow, Lie Mohammed will multiply the figure by 2, and claim they have "technically achieved 10,000 MW". See picture of monthly power generation from NNPC's official report just published in today's papers including Business Day. We never achieved up to 3,500MW in 2015. In January major gas pipelines which supply gas to Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) was blown up by militants, which mean very limited gas supply, hence very low generation. Many parts of the country have been experiencing drastically reduced hours they see light. Some areas are in constant darkness. yet they are announcing higher megawatts while generators fueled with government money is providing light for them in their govt offices and official quarters. why can't Fashola switch off the generators in Federal Ministry of Power including his office in Abuja if those megawatts truly exist? Kwuantinu with the lies. God is watching all of you

ayindejimmy:my frd ur situation is understandable. For ur light to be rationallized (I.e 2 days On 1 days Off) definitely you are using a lower capacity xformer. Even if 10MW is generated u will still be having d same issue, your prob is not generation is rather a distribbution.though 5MW is far from worthy. But this is the first in the history of Nigeria despite the drop in the hydro power level (dry season). I think this is a good sign. |
