Mr Mogu raised his hands, utterly stunned at how events had played out. "Surprised, right?" Detective Arinze said as he pushed Mr Mogu before cuffing his hands and getting his team to ransack the area. Five minutes later, both Detective Arinze and Mr Mogu entered a Green Mercedes E10 series, with the rest of his team opting for the regular Police vans before driving swiftly away from the scene. "Yusuf, how the road na?" Detective Arinze asked his driver, who was a police officer like him. "Its clear sir. Nothing on the road." "Mustapha, how close are we from traffic?" "About five minutes away from any traffic, sir. I will advise that you move Mr Mogu to the EFCC's Headquarters not far from here for safety." "I can't do that, Mustapha and you know why." "Ok sir, just saying................ Sir, there are three white Jeeps with the Volvo sign on your tail". "Volvo Jeeps? I never heard of that. " "Me neither. But I.........." "Screeech!SSHHHHHHH!" The noise from the broken mouthpiece obviously gave Detective Arinze an idea of what is happening. "Mustapha! Turn Left quickly and then right. Drive towards the EFCC's Headquarters!" "Why, sir?" "We are under attack!" ############################################################################ "That's what Principal Matthews said?" Ada asked as she shook on disbelief. "Yes. He even showed me a text that was sent five minutes before I came in." "So, Principal Matthews is out of the way. Mr Bamidele said, scratching his head. Who can we call on?" "I don't know oo...." Ada said. "This is bad for Ebuka. Mr Sanyaolu said, shaking his head. We may been able to dent Mr Francis' testimony but Madam's death still hangs on him. Calistus, can you go to the police station and see Ebuka?" "Ok sir." "I will see Barr. Osaze and enquire about witness protection. Mr Sanyaolu said. Lets end this meeting here." "What if the person that wants him dead is among us and is thwarting our plans to save him?" "What are you trying to say, Adaobi?" Mr Sanyaolu said, looking stunned. "Shh! I don't want anyone to think that what we are discussing is significant." Mr Sanyaolu calmed down. "But why the thought?" "Detective Arinze feels that someone close is after him and with Principal Matthews statement, its clear that the person who is responsible for this is someone close to us." Not to talk of Mr Mogu's disappearance. Mr Sanyaolu thought. "If that's the case, then its the worst thing that can happen to us." ############################################################################### Detective Arinze looked out from his window, worried about what could turn to a botched attempt at arresting a wanted criminal. in fact with the way the situation is turning, it could turn to a bloodbath for him and those around him, especially those police officers in the police van. "Yusuf, have we heard anything from Mustapha?" He asked his driver, who he gave the intercom to while he took over the driving. "No sir." "What about the Police Headquarters in Abuja?" "Nothing from them sir." Detective Arinze grinded his teeth, knowing that the only positive in this situation was the absence of the three whitee Jeeps. That was to change soon. "Sir, that's the Headquarters! The EFCC's Hadquarters, sir!" "I know!" Detective Arinze said. "Kee....................." Bam! the car was rammed by one of the white Jeeps. Before the officers in the police van could say jack, their van was also rammed. Consequently, five masked men came out from the Jeep closeat to Detective Arinze, carried Mr Mogu and escaped quickly as police vans showed up on the horizon. 3 Likes |

As soon as Adaobi entered the house, she walked straight to Mr Bamidele and Calistus. I believe that we should not give up on Ebuka. Who said something like that? Calistus asked in mock anger. We are doing everything we can and you are just opening your mouth to say nonsense. I am sorry, Nna. Ada said, partial mockery. The talk we just had drained me mentally. Then go and rest. Mr Bamidele said. Leave.this to Calistus and me. Ada walked away while Mr Bamidele left the house. As soon as he was alone, Calistus switched on his phone. Beep! A message flew in from a certain unknown number. The package has been retrieved. The message read. A small smile played on Calistus' lips. What are you smiling at? He turned to see Ada staring at him. Trouble is rising. A container I have been expecting just arrived, so I have to see it now. Now? Won't you eat first? Don't worry about that. I will eat outside. Detective Arinze looked startled for a moment, then his eyes lit up. Mr Mogu! We were bringing him to the EF......... He was taken, that is if you got him at all. However, its clear that you had something or someone of import, considering how battered your vehicles were. Sir, did Yusuf and Mustapha make it? Mustapha is fine. Its was from him that we learnt of the attack. Yusuf is on the other side of the ward, recuperating. D.P.O sir, I am sorr..... Don't apologize. Its not your fault that you were ambushed. I believe that we have insiders in our midst. Where is Kolade? I don't know, sir. I never heard from him, sir. What do you mean? where you not to rendevouz with him? Sir, Detective Kolade never picked up his calls, nor was he present throughout the mission. Even when we went to the address he gave us, he was absent. Hmnn......... Get some rest. We will speak tomorrow. While Calistus was scheming, Adaobi was busy pacing around her mother's room. It was the first time since her death that Ada entered her room. She had no idea what brought her there, until she saw her mother's silver coloured laptop. She quickly carried it and headed to her room. Maybe mom hid some information here. She opened the system and started it up, only to find out that unlike normal systems that just need a password, her mom's system was encrypted. God, what is this? She exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. Why will mother's laptop have so much security? A thought suddenly found its way to her head. What if there was something REALLY important there? What if the answer to her death was hidden in there? Ada is usually cool headed but with her knowledge of American movies, she knew that anything could be hidden in a system, especially if its encrypted. She picked her phone. George, cab you come to my house? Why do you need to search your mother's files and folders? Adaobi sat on the sofa, looking at her dark skinned,nerdy looking friend called George. Its not really your business. It is. How do you want me to ignore this? You just need to enter any of your mum's companies and ask for the financial files and you have all you need. So why doing this? Moreover if I am caught, I could be looking at a prison sentence. Unlike you, I am just hustling and know nobody to fight for me or money to bribe judges. Please George, don't bother about the consequences. Just get her files from this system. OK oh. But I hope that I would be in trouble for this. They were both quiet and soon enough, the laptop was unlocked. So, what are we looking for here? Ada refused to answer the question, rather she was unusually focused on a word document on the system. This was the second day in a new week and he is just showing up. Arinze was wondering what sort of lie he was about to tell. Detective Kolade, explain to me why you went contrary to your mission here in Abuja? Kolade looked at the IPO with a straight face. I am deeply sorry for not arresting Mr Mogu Sir. Immediately I came into Abuja, a severe fever got to me. I was rushed to Luke Carringtion International Hospital in Garki, Abuja. I was there throughout the duration of my stay here. I was just dismissed last week. Okay, why did you not contact us? Sir, the fever was so serious that my mind did not go to that direction. Even the doctor said that I am lucky to survive. Indeed. I will check out your story. The IPO said. I guess you have been updated on how things have gone so far? Yes sir. Mr Mogu would have escaped Abuja. That makes our work more difficult. I need you to work with Arinze here to achieve results in the fastest possible time. Yes Sir! And no excuses. Yes Sir. The IPO stood up. Kolade, this job is squarely in your hands for now. Na babe hold me up. Guy, shey you dey serious about this matter, abi na play e be? Wetin you think? Guy, I almost lost my life over this case and you..... Calm down and don't judge me yet. I am taking it serious, just that I am not jumping the gun like you. I have been obsevibg Mr Mogu for weeks. If I had known your plans, I would have warned you against it. He has people following him always. They don't make themselves obvious but if anyone got too close to him without explanation, the group that attacked you will launch an attack on them. I was planning to make a move on them this week and then take Mr Mogu into custody next week, but your interference disrupted that plan. Sorry oh! But when I did not........ I understand. Ebuka, why would mom make that kind of will? On her second visit, Ada was in a no nonsense mood. You are looking more like mom each day. Ebuka, answer the question. If I may ask, how did you get to know about the will? I am sure that it has not been read in my absence. I hacked into mom's laptop. Ada! Stop shouting. I don't think that its your concern now. But what's in that will can put you in trouble. I know. So tell me why? If Calistus sees this, he will be ,....... More importantly, how are the efforts that you guys are taking on my case going? Ada sighed. To be frank with you,there is no improvement. All those we wanted to use as witness have either been threatened or have disappeared. Even your school's principal has been threatened with the lives of his workers. What? Mr Matthews? Yes. The other day that I went looking around for evidence, I was chased by some hoodlums on a car. I managed to escape but since then I have been told to stay out of this case by our lawyer for my safety. Searching mom's laptop was my last foray into looking to find something to help you. I did not expect to see the will. The will is a long story, Ada. I can't tell you about it. But I know that it has nothing to do with the case. It has everything to do with the case.
