Are you minding them? Anything the corrupt thieves who stole their Crude Oil wells, reduced their allocation and fought Amaechi's Superb Government spat at them, they lapped it without reasoning.

That was one of the best projects in the history of Nigeria but GEJ and his husband Patience were bent in keeping Rivers State Bound.

They support GEJ who diverted their Oil wells and hate Amaechi for fighting to get it back.
We have done this before and folks like u lost. Amaechi in 8yrs, amassed about $24bn and had little or nothing to show for it. He ran an annual budget of $3bn same budget with a country like Rwanda.. Now compare Rivers with Rwanda in terms of infrastructural development.. Mind you that Rwanda pays for its defence, intl obligations and some other things.

You are talking of totally different factors. Tell me the Governor in Nigeria you want to compare with Governor Amaechi and let us compare. Then tell me he is not one of the best in the history of Nigeria and not the best in the history of Rivers State.

We are talking of a man who created thousands of jobs with teachers training project and Timariv.

Or tell me Amaechi was not amazing when you compare the Rivers State he took over to the one he left.

It is only Amaechi that took allocations. Others that took, what did they do with it.

I cannot be reeling out factual numbers and you are rebutting with emotions and nothing.. No other govts except Lagos had the type of huge budget he had. But Lagos is a multi-city state while Rivers is a one-city state and infrastructurally challenged unlike Lagos.
Back to the question- how much was spent on the uncompleted monorail project?

Urban development/Renewal

The administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi has strived to return Port Harcourt back to its Garden City Status and has worked towards eradicating slums in the city. The government has in line with this commenced enforcement of urban development laws and regulations, establishing building lines, height, size and mode of fences in specific areas, processing and approval of building plans; regulation and control of outdoor advertising; and beautification of the environment with the development of parks, gardens, fields and lawns.

In fulfillment of this, the government has embarked on:

Demolition of illegal structures, shanties and slums in Port Harcourt.
Demolition of fences and walls higher than 6 metres.
Development of Recreational Parks in various areas of the city like the Port Harcourt Peace Park along the Port Harcourt/Aba Road between Bori Camp and Airforce Base, Elekahia by the Housing Estate and several others..
Beautification of Roads and Flyovers with greenery.
Reclaiming of 7 recreational fields that were unlawfully built on.
Construction of Silverbird Cinemas in partnership with the Silverbird Group at the site of the former Obi Wali Cultural centre.
Demolition of Port Harcourt Waterfronts and Proposed Redevelopment for the Waterfronts into standard residential and industrial districts.

Agriculture

The Agriculture initiative of Governor Amaechi is part of plans to provide employment and empowerment of Rivers people through agriculture. The initiatives amongst others are, the Songhai Farm, Banana plantation, Cassava initiative, Fish Farm in Buguma…

Transport

The ban on commercial motorcycles from Port Harcourt and three other Local government areas in a bid to check accident rate in the State as well as put a stop to the then rampant armed robbery with the use of motorbikes.
The provision of Mass transit buses and taxis in collaboration with Skye bank.
The building of 57 modern service Bus Stops along the major Aba, Ikwerre expressway in Port Harcourt.
Enforcement of the State’s traffic law.
Inauguration of a vibrant Road Traffic Management Agency, TIMA-RIV.

Primary Health Care Centres

160 new Model Health Centres are currently scattered across the State, meeting the Governor’s vision of bringing quality health care closer to the people. Almost 100 of these health centres have been completed, fully equipped and functional, while work is still ongoing at other sites.

Hospitals

4 New Hospitals: The Ultra Modern Rivers State Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital, Aba Road by Garrison Junction, Port Harcourt (Completed);

The 150-bed Kesley Harrison (New Niger) Hospital, Emenike Street, Diobu, Port Harcourt (Completed); General Hospital at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (completed); and

The Justice Karibi Whyte Mega Specialist Hospital (Under construction)

Rivers Songhai Farm
DSC_0755

Songhai is a center for training, agricultural production, research and development of sustainable agricultural practices.

The programme was conceived when Governor Chibuike Amaechi visited the Songhai Centre in Porto Novo and was impressed with the model and decided it would work well in Rivers State.

Work began at the Rivers Songhai farm in 2010, before then a group of 105 young men and women drawn from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state had been sent to Songhai International Centre in Benin Republic for 18-month training in various specialized Agric and Agro based areas as well as develop entrepreneurial culture.

The farm project sits on a 314-hectare land in Bunu-Tai, an agrarian community in Tai Local Government Area of the state. It is about 20 times the size of the Songhai model — an integrated farm which combines livestock, arable farming, fisheries, snail farming and poultry.

Peter obi developed all strata of Anambra state simultaneously with the meagre resources he gets from the federal government and the state IGR.....he came tops in education, road networks, agriculture, even bequeathed a brand new teaching hospital complete with all modern equipment and personnel.

Education: What Wike Needs To Learn From Ameachi

by Buzzj17:

3:12pm On Aug 03, 2015

Nigerians will not forget in a hurry how former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Ameachi, changed the face of education in the state for the better. The future of every nation depends on qualitative education; hence the demand for quality education cannot be overemphasized.

Among the developmental strides of the Rotimi Ameachi-led administration, the turn-around in the education sector was key, due to its strategic importance in developing the future generation and creating better citizenry for the society.

Ameachi’s government was so passionate about the sector that the state was awarded the book capital of the world by UNESCO (the first of its kind in Nigeria).

Bangkok team, the 2013 holder of the title, UNESCO’s World Book Capital, formally handed over to the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt on April 23, 2014, making the hundred year old city, the first in Sub Saharan Africa, and the second in the entire Africa, after Alexandria, Egypt (2002).

Port Harcourt was chosen on account of the quality of its programme, in particular its focus on youth and the impact it will have on improving Nigeria’s culture of books reading, writing and publishing to improve literacy rates.

Rivers State, like some other states in the oil rich South-south region has its fair share of societal vices, ranging from militancy, armed robbery, kidnapping, prostitution etc.

Perhaps the then Ameachi-led administration realized the impending danger of negative civilisation for its immediate environment and the nation at large, and chose to address the latent problem through a strategic and sound educational policy.

The achievement of this objective was anchored on the construction of schools with provision of ICT Labs which are well stocked with computers, Libraries, auditoriums, well-landscaped and secured environments, equipped playgrounds, with a classroom not exceeding 30 pupils, for thorough supervision. The state’s education sector during the Rotimi Amaechi era witnessed an unprecedented revolution, the milestone recorded was anchored on the peoples’ ownership of the process that delivered quality and affordable education.

The former governor who acknowledged the importance of imbibing noble ideas in the minds of young people, placed more emphasis on Early Child Education (ECD) i.e primary and junior secondary education.

During Amaechi’s eight years reign, the state government commenced construction of 750 model primary schools to replace the collapsing structures he inherited, more than 500 of these schools have been completed and in use.

He also increased the ECDs from a little above 400 to 728, at the same time increased the number of Primary Schools from 700 to 947, a feat commended by the Universal Basic Education (UBE).

It is worthy of note that primary schools with ECDs recorded a significant increment from 360 to 710. There are 18 standalone ECD centers in Rivers state, giving it a far lead in the South-south zone - only Delta state achieved a similar feat with about four centers.

Ameachi did not stop at erecting structures and facilities to encourage more pupils enrollment in schools, his policy ensured that learning and examination ethics were inculcated into the psyche of the pupils.

This necessitated various skills development programmes for teachers in the state, the immediate up-skilling of teachers with the University of Cambridge teachers’ certification in collaboration with the British Council , renovation of schools staff quarters and Ministry of Education zonal offices, and taking over the responsibility of paying primary school teachers from the local governments were indeed laudable efforts.
Re: Amechi's AIT Interview On Focus Nigeria Was A Shame! by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:37am On Mar 12, 2016
No wonder, the Rivers State Examination Malpractice Index stood at 13.09% towards 2015, compared to the 34% as at 2007.

Establishment of Rivers State Education Quality Assurance Agency, inaugurated in 2013 with the mandate to monitor, supervise and evaluate standards for establishment and performance of both public and private schools in Rivers state was also an important dimension of the educational programme of the Amaechi-led administration.

The agency was as well saddled with the task to oversee the management of both public and private primary and secondary schools in the state, with a view to having it conform with minimum standards for better education in the state. Even an increase in total primary school enrolment and net enrolment of 269,059 and 235,978 respectively, amounting to over 35 per cent improvement couldn’t affect delivery.

During this period, the enrolment in ECD centers rose to 40,344 from total enrolment of less than 30,000 during the pre-Amaechi era. Furthermore, the state recoded commendable strides in Junior Secondary school enrolment, it increased to 125,294 from a pre Amaechi figure of less than 70%. Rivers received an award as the best UBE state.

Under Amaechi, at the Senior Secondary school level, the performances of students during WAEC exams was outstanding. The state repeatedly ranked between 3rd and 6th since 2010 nationwide, while in 2013, Rivers state recorded over 58 per cent pass rate compared to the national average of 25 per cent.

This could be the governments rewards for employing about 13,000 teachers in one day, and provision of school uniforms and learning materials to teachers and pupils, which are just normal responsibility of any purposeful government.

In addition, the Rivers State Sustainable development Agency (RSSDA) in partnership with United Nations Institute for Training and research (UNITAR) encouraged technical education at the tertiary level, both within the country and abroad. 309 Rivers students studied in Malaysia while 95 studied in Russia. 28 students attended a technical school in Germany and 8 out of the 28 were retained as instructors.

Furthermore, there was equipment of vocational schools - They were equipped to handle four departments/vocations.

The administration sustained the Rivers State Scholarship Board with 1039 Nigerians at the undergraduate in different universities across Nigeria, 301 beneficiaries at Master’s degree level and 209 at PhD level, while 154 candidates enjoyed scholarship overseas at the undergraduate level, 44 at Master’s degree level and 6 PhD candidates.

When Amaechi assumed power in 2007, he lamented that the educational infrastructures in the state were in extreme decay and begging for urgent attention. The then governor rolled his sleeves, brought on board men and women of supreme administrative qualities and immersed headlong into the muddied waters of education in the state. After eight years of unparalleled investment, the administration delivered to the people one of the most comprehensive, functional and qualitative educational system in the history of Nigeria.

It is however imperative that the current governor, Nyesom Wike, consolidates on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor. The governor should differentiate clearly between politics and governance and allow younger citizens of the state enjoy even better dividends of democracy during his administration.

Governor Wike will no doubt make an indelible mark if he ensured completion of uncompleted projects initiated by the last administration.

The then Rotimi Ameachi-led administration will be fondly remembered by the people for his determination to change the phase of education in the state, and the sustained legacies.

“If the current problem with Amaechi is that he is not performing, I will say Jonathan, congratulations. If the current problem with Amaechi is because he is corrupt, I will say Jonathan, I congratulate you 10 times. If the controversy is because security is down in Rivers, I will say Jonathan I congratulate you 100 times. Right now, Jonathan, I don’t congratulate you at all. I say shame on you because you are not doing what is expected of you as a President.”

“If we go by proportion, say Jonathan take what you have done in any area at the national level, and take what Amaechi has done as governor of Rivers in that area, Amaechi scored better in education, health, security; the governor scored one million times better. In Rivers before now, security was bad. In Port Harcourt, which is a garden city of joy, nobody was going out. Amaechi stopped all that. Now you can go out in Port Harcourt and stay till anytime.”....Prof. Tam David West.

Health centers built and furnished by the peter obi administration are currently uncountable.....we don't even count them.....we count mega projects.....the teaching hospital was built from the scratch...same with the heart hospital he built in osha.

For the records...rivers gets in a month what anambra gets in 3months...heck amaechi had so much he even bought a jet for the state..you can never neglect or leave out that fact....thats the best way to do a detailed comparison.....yet obi did all these good life saving projects and still didn't leave a single debt.....yet your Judas left mountainous debt for generation unborn and even owed salaries...heck dud even looted ordinary household items before leave...his aides even stole govt cars....ma brother leave matter.

Chief pls don't go there.....today is Saturday and urs sincerely have a lot of idle time on his hand to engage u squarely....

Pictures. I am waiting. I did not just talk, I showed pictures

Running with Cheap Propaganda. The cars were theirs according to the law. They were not stolen. The Government house was not looted when Amaechi left. That was a cheap propaganda by Wike to siphon funds in the name of furnishing the government house

Please, say the one you know. They did not steal the cars. Did you see how the car crushed when Wike's people picked it up with the mechanized vehicle. Was that Bulletproof in your eyes?

When Wike feeds people with lies, they lap it up without thinking.

What kind of car will the commissioner of Information in Rivers State use. Is a Range Rover Sport far?

Tell me another state that the government went retrieving cars from past state workers.

That was a process of thuggery and intimidation. When people stand against good performance, they end up supporting evil.

Did Peter Obi do well. Yes. Could he have done better with more funds yes. Fayemi can claim the same or other Governors.

I am not asking that. Did Amaechi have massive funds yes.

What matters is what I said, he was one of the best performing Governors in the history of the country. Best in Rivers State.

Building 500 top class schools. One of the best projects in the World when it comes to education. So saying someone could have done better does not change the fact that he out performed the lots.

Or tell me Amaechi was not amazing when you compare the Rivers State he took over to the one he left.

It is only Amaechi that took allocations. Others that took, what did they do with it.
Zombie,Did Ameachi work better than Peter Obi and Obiano, despite taking time 10 of their monthly allocations? I don't even want to compare him to Akpabio?

Abi, Peter Obi is the best thing since Palm Wine. Let me see his structures. Two structures. He would have, he would have. Let me see structures.
So you call pictures of buildings that a private individual can build with his money a Government project? You Apc guys are clowns!

You are very good at throwing figures around without backing your claims with evidence and with sources.

You claimed that Amaechi spent 1 billion on the monorail project and abandoned it

When a poster asked you to provide evidence , you became abusive and funny enough you requested that the poster provide evidence on your behalf. When you eventually came up with a source to support your claims, it turned out that you were wrong. Yet you kept on heaping insults

Where is the evidence of all these numbers you are quoting?
