Vox AFRICA have been added to infinity channels but with no audio on my str. 9x

Same on my 4910, but am still working on it cos the audio is AAC and fom my last count 4910 is able to decode AAC. Same thing happen to SWICTH but fter doing some MAGIC the sound came out. Don't know much about 9x format but after manually adding the channel the VOX audio will come. Will do that 2day and let you know how far.

thanks, but out of in-patience i tweak my LNB yestanite to the 10 o'clock spot sombody recommended for me with the 9x sometimes and which i never get to do. I rotate the LNB to that spot and it worked. I can NOW recieve ALL the channels. I just noticed that at a particular spot i'll recieve Multi tv and not others and at another spot i'll recieve infinity with no video on multitv and gradually i was rotating the LNB untill i got to the spot where i recieve ALL, and i realised that it was that PARTICULAR 10 o' CLOCK SPOT dat was recommended when i have viewing problem with my former 9x.

This FTA stuff one cant just stop learning new things each and everyday. So challenging

Pls can you put me through the use of the 2 CAM/CAS in the 4910 and how i can make maximum use of it?

What is Card Sharing and/or Ccccam? Is it available in the 4910? if so, how can i go about the usage in it?

Is there any code applicable to the 4910? if any, abeg pass it on.

The reason for the above questions is that i just got a new 4910 and am trying to get acquainted with it.

My new 4910 is not showing MULTITV, CRTV, GTV & LTM TV But only INFINITY TV. What can i do about it? Am using the same setup i use for my 9x which is showing ALL, The signal strength is at 93% or thereabout but the 9x is picking it fine, while the 4910 is not.

Am afraid that if i tweak the LNB "AGAIN" (as i did for the 9x b4 it picked the channels), the 4910 might show them while the 9x will not pick it.

What should i do in this case cos am using both stb (with 1 dish and a dual LNB) in different location of the house?

Just got back from church and decided to check out my new 4910, i follow-up what u saisd about the SWITCH AUDIO process and voila it came out crystal audibly clear.

from strong's official website, check the technical specs for 4910 and 4900 you will find out that HE-AAC compliance is listed for 49100. It is not listed under 4900. However, I'm not convinced that 4900 will not do AAC. update the S/W, go to Menu, Channels, Add Channels, choose the sat & freq. for switch, input the APID, VPID and PPID, select the video format for switch then, go to Audio and check the various audio formats. you can repeat this for other audio formats.
u know, i could not get audio from Smart-Tv when i laid hands on 4910. at that time, they were transmitting audio in HE-AAC, after updating with 224p i went through the above procedure , entered APID, PPID,VPID tried all the various audio formats and was lucky with MPEG4.
Do u see the point, when i scanned for the channels and pressed audio the format was HE-ACC and I was not getting sound, but when i went through the manual procedure i got sound with MPEG4.
now i am getting sound without having to go through all the above, the audio comes with the default format which is aac.

i foresee a time when providers will adapt to acc format for their audio x'missions, so all prospective dxer buyers should take note.

i just got a new 4910 but am also not recieving any audio on SWITCH even after updating with 227p 200810, though av not taken time to troubleshoot cos the time is not there. Pls can u run down the process again COMPREHENSIVELY my email is olakunlekan@gmail.com

i am not sure if someone has laid hand on the infinity decoder, to give us updates whether it can blindscan or not,

I think something should be wrong somewhere if the 4900 is not decypher the AAC audio format cos according to its manual in the strong website it has encoding capacity to decypher the AAC audio format. Again, one can also try to blind scan cos attimes this people switch from VERTICAL to HORIZONTAL hence, making some slight changes in their brodcast maybe its part of the test process.

Go for Strong 4900/4910 it is readily available and very good for FTA.

4900 - satellite tuner only
4910 - satellite and terrestrial tuner (i.e. If you have this STB and startimes allow their cards to be used with another STB apart from their own then you make use of only one box instead of one for satellite and another for terrestrial)

Nicely said, my dear brother. For a fist timer like me on this thread, I think it will do us all (Nairalanders) lots of good if we stop beefing each other and 1 or 2 corrections are ok and if such person continues just kind of IGNORE cos all those "ANGER" can be channel to address issues of people like us who are genuinely interested in FTA knowledge.

When u check from your audio menu via your remote control, u will find out that the Infinity Switch channel's audio language is in AAC format. 69x can't decode this format. I also understand 4900/10 can decode it only with an appropriate upgrade. It's the same reason why sometime back we couldn't get audio for Top TV's test transmission on Sirius 4.

I USE 9X THERE IS NO AUDIO ON SWITCH ALSO, BUT 1 CANNOT UNDERESTIMATE OTHER DECODERS SINCE WE HAVE DIFFERENT AUDIO FORMATS. IT JUST A MATTER OF A PARTICULAR DECODER BEEN ABLE TO DECRYPT A CERTAIN AUDIO SYSTEM. PROBABLY THEY'RE TESTING SWITCH ON A DIFFERENT AUDIO SYSTEM (SAY AAC) AND MAYBE THE 9X CANNOT DECRYPT IT WHILE OTHERS such as DAARSAT CAN. ONE CANNOT JUST UNDERESTIMATE IT.

Fellow Niaralanders, i do appreciate all your efforts cos you guys are doing us NOVICE out here a lot of GOOD. Please, with all these talk about OPTICUM, SPIDERBOX, STRONG 4900/4910, DREAMBOX and TOPFIELD. Can you please narrow down your recommendation based on ONE/TWO IMPORTANT THING thats COMMON to us ALL, i mean FTA. If that is so, kindly recommend a GOOD, NICE HD STB that is good for FTA viz-a-viz BLINDSCAN, EXCELLENT ZAPPING SPEED, AVAILABILITY OF PATCHES/SOFTWARES and PRICE.

Reason for the above is that AM DESIROUS of having an HD Decoder and it will also do other novice like me out there a lot of good if we keep it SIMPLE.

I beg help me with the configuration diagram for your rs232 cable cos since I bought mine from oversea I have not been able to make use of it for once. It will do a lot good if you can post it here for others to learn from.

just like i said in my previous post, i didn't do anything special. All i did was to cut the cable in2 2 equal halves and join the pins as discuss in previous thread in NL by baba_egun which was re-posted in Nairaland FTA reference Library by twinstaiye. But it didn't work, so i use a multimeter to do the testing (https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-152871.0.html#msg3466408). It was in this process that i realised that my rs232 cable has different colour combination as i expected so, i made the switch, and bingo it worked like magic. In the post the connection for pin 5 to pin 5 which is green colour but in my own rs232 cable pin 5 is yellow and not green. So i made the switch and it worked.

But to tidy up the other pins and make it neater i went ahead to connect the other pins to make up what we called NULL MODEM WITH FULL HANDSHAKE (Though you only need the four pins as discuss earlier to make it work). check (http://www.lammertbies.nl/comm/info/RS-232_null_modem.html).

If you take your time and do it patiently you'll get it right at first trial. I guess you know that your DECODER has to be connected to the LNB, cos i didn't know and i have to carry it to where my PC is after several trial trials i later learnt from another source that it has to be connected to the LNB. Also, i tried several times uploading the same software with my FLASH DISK but my 9x says wrong file and it didtn't accept it not until, u know the rest

Thanks but it came after av given it a try. But one thing keeps bothering me though and its that i always get my solution different from other nairalanders. First, it was my LNB connection with ASTR2B, second the colour combination of my RS232 Cable and now the uploading of the software. It didn't work for me untill i connect the LNB to the reciever before the Loader start uploading. Anyway, Thanks.

2nite at 11.10pm Naija time. After much trial on how to use the rs232 cable i finally figured it out and i upload my STRONG SRT4669X with SRT4669ME_7111_ALL_109p_20100702 software. It loaded successfully and it removed the MyTV start-up screen and above all there was no discolouration problem.

My rs232 cable has diifferent configuration from the one posted on NL by Baba Egun. It took me lots of effort to finally figured out that my Pin 5 is not GREEN but rather it is YELLOW. This is the colour combination:

PIN 1-------BLACK PIN2------BROWN PIN 2------RED PIN4------ORANGE
PIN 5-------YELLOW PIN 6------GREEN PIN 7------BLUE PIN 8------PURPLE and
PIN 9------ASH.

So, my connection is:

PIN 2 (BROWN)-- to -- PIN 3 (RED)
PIN 3 (RED)-- to -- PIN 2 (BROWN)
PIN 5 (YELLOW) --to -- PIN 5 (YELLOW)
UNCLOTHED --to-- UNCLOTHED.

The MyTV start-up screen that was removed was replaced with STRONG, not just by name Start-up screen. My S/W VERSION now reads: 109p July 2 2010.

In using the rs232 cable to transfer firmware to my decoder. Will the LNB still has to be attached to the decoder? Also, the decoder suppose to be ON, which STATE of ON should it be, STANDBY or FINAL ON?

Now i know that A null modem cable is an RS-232 serial cable, but i have both. That means if i want to use the rs232 for file transfer from my PC to my decoder i still have to cut it and attached the pins as 2-3, 3-2, 5-5 and unclothed to unclothed?

Abeg, am getting fed up with dis issue of MULL MODEM, I bought one that is female-to-female (9-pins). Am i still going to cut it and attach the pins as described in 1 of your infos? If so, then what is called a NULL MODEM? cos what i believe is that the 9-pin female to female is already crossed inside and its what is called a null modem, which 1 is rs232

Pls for my sake and others kindly explain if it still needs to be cut and reconnected because i wan cut my own now. Since av bought it, it has not worked for me.

oga kenny, i know am on the wrong thread but its been HARD to get your attention on the whole NL, infact av been trying to track you down for some time now. Abeg pls do me this favour now that you're ONLINE.

What is the advantage of upgrading one's decoder software?

The reason i ask is that i use a 4669x and i have 2 dishes: 1 for FTA on ASTRA2B the other for FTA on W4 (DSTV). Initially am on MyTV but after been on NL i realised am just wasting my money.

Can some of the upgrades ACTUALLY open SOME ENCRYPTED CHANNELS?

Pls kindly enlightened me further on the use of the Null Modem cos av been trying to use mine since but no success. It seems the PC is not seeing the receiver. I tried it by putting on the receiver to the STANDBY MODE nothing happen, i tried again but this time i actually put the decoder in the ON MODE (i.e where it actually shows channel number) yet nothing happen. Can it be the loader cos am using the loader from the strong tech website. Also my PC only have 1 com port so i pick COM 1 in the setup procedure and with all these no file was transfered. Presently, am using my FLASH DRIVE to upload to the decoder but i'll be glad if i can have a solution to the usage of the NULL MODEM connection cos i literaly pass thru hell to purchase it.

Sorry 4 d unsuccessful attempt but am glad that u're able 2 resolve it. STBs have ways of behaving cos like i said mine didnt even accept d 109ME Patch it keeps saying "wrong file" but my neighbour that i gave the 107p MyTV Software to use on his Decoder, it accepted it straight away. I guess the reason must be from the version, the version i gave you is 107p Dec 8 2009 WHILE yours is 107 Nov 27 2009. All the same am glad u got d solution.
