The sentence should read: "The members suggested that Emeka leaves them". In other words, they suggested that he leaves them.
Again, "leaves" adresses "Emeka" which is singular. If you say "The members suggested that Emeka and Uche leave them", then you are right because more than one person is being addressed. You will be right if you also say that "The members suggested that the people leave them" because "people" is a collective singular which can take either a singular or plural verb depending on the context .

Where did you learn your own grammar? The only error in that sentence is the hyphen beween "steps" and "down".The correct sentence should be "Lawyers Demand That Governor Suntai Steps Down".
"Steps" in the sentence addresses "Governor Suntai" (which is singular) and not "Lawyers". In the same vein, "demand" adresses "Lawyers" which is plural rather than "demands".

Suicide by anybody is unjustifiable for any reason whatsoever. I am with the police on this -if he obstructed traffic, he should be penalized within the ambits of the law. Since he felt taking his own life was better than answering to law enforcement agents, he should sort that out with his maker.

I overheard a female colleague of mine the other day telling a female friend of hers never to disclose her salary to her husband under any circumstances. Her reason was that the man could go "jealous" whenever she needed to send money across to her own relatives. This argument has somewhat gotten me confused especially going by the biblical injunction of husband and wife being one, and I seek honest opinions here on how issues about salary disclosure are best handled among couples.

Drove past that spot and actually witnessed this, was just some minutes behind the culprit and saw the whole shouting and resusitation effort, by the side of the road...thought the driver who did it would have parked in front and come back to pick him up And from what i saw, the man just jumped on the road and crossed, not minding that bus drivers parked half harzardly on that road and that most cars were driving really fast

Incidents like this are a daily occurence on Ikorodu road. You have pedestrian bridges at Onipanu and Fadeyi but you still find pedestrians sprinting across the 12 or 16-lane expressway in droves. A lot more enlighenment needs to be done on the dangers inherent in such practices by the Lagos State Govt and I hope the authorities concerned will be quick to remove the corpse before it poses a health hazard to the environment.
May the soul of the deceased rest in peace.

With less than six weeks to the 1st October deadline for the acquisition of the new plate numbers by motorists, over 70% of vehicles still adorn the old plates. The exhorbitant cost of the new plates (25-40k), coupled with the seeminlgy lack of benefit to motorists has made it difficult for me to personally dole out such a huge amount of money for nothing (so to speak) and I wonder if other motorists feel the same way too.
