chaircover: I am a late comerStill no reason as I type. She was remorseful initially, but suddenly becoming aggressive and incommunicado right now. |
texaco1: believe me some mother in laws will go to any length to destroy a son in law that wants to prove himself independent of them , once someone notices this , the best thing is to keep them at arms length and watch your wife carefully , whatever the op tells his wife believe me she will go straight to her mother to tell her . op is treading on dangerous grounds which i don't think he realizes . this is the sort of issues that has wrecked many men lives beyond repair. a word i think should be enough for any wise opMy brother, it is this lack of seriousness that has made them fall into my trap so far. Otherwise, the way the whole deal was packaged, I would have lived my entire life without ever knowing my wife owned the house. |
Why does your family know about it? Are they privy to things that happen in your home?
The issue is too weighty to be handled alone hence I notified my family. My mother-in-law, like someone rightly posted earlier, is too slippery to be handled with kid gloves because something strongly tells me my life is on the line here. |
The only thing I have no control over in this matter is the extent my family will take it as they have already contacted the Priest's superiors and are threatening to take it to the highest level possible. There may be some fireworks but at the end my final decision will be that I have forgiven her and will still remain married to her for the sake of my children. My mother-in-law is not going to find things funny too but unfortunately, I have no control over that either . |
babyosisi: Do you come from a polygamous home? No. My both parents are still alive and together. |
babyosisi: Biko let us hear somethingI no get children outside wedlock o. All my children in this life are from my present wife. God is my witness. She even broke down when I sked her if I have any wife or children aside her and our children last night. I may not be perfect but I know I am a good husband. It's just unfortunate that things are the way they are at the moment. |
gbanikiti: oga, in case your wife wants to build another one, this time with your approval,I have a plot of land for sale o! Na just shikili money. Contact me asap abeg!No wahala. We go build am together this time. All the evil third-parties are being exposed and will soon leave the way. I think I will just take things calmly. She just called me now to say she's on her way home from work still feeling remorseful. I have forgiven her but can never sleep with both eyes closed with her again. So sad. ![]() |
ballabriggs: So your judgement and conclusion is based on the man's story ikwa? Una go old, the man has not told us the background of this story but what I can get here is, the woman does not trust him.my bro, I no dey vex. I just dey wonder what her next game plan is. Trust me, I have a very good reason to stop for one or two bottles on my way home today. ![]() |
babyosisi: How many stories are talking about hereJust a couple of flats. |
What if she tells you that she was actually planning to surprise you with the house? Too bad you weren't patient enough to see what her end game is. Now she could up with a billion and one reasons why she didn't tell you.
We both have far bigger houses. This one is not even half the size of the one in the village and is not even in a commercially viable location. That is why I am wondering what she's up to. |
I am happy I'm able to take this lightly right now actually. Initially, I could really never imagined it but shit happens. I'm vigilant at the moment preparing for the worst and hoping for the best at the same time. |
babyosisi: How many stories are talking about hereU no get wetin to say abeg. You dey find picture for house wey me wey be the husband neva see the picture? You must be kidding me. ![]() |
It would possibly be the most stupid thing you could do. I get why you are mad but I have to say that other things crossed my mind as I read what you wrote. When you made all that money how did you act with it. Did you make her feel like she was at your mercy. People act this way when they believe that this is their chance to restore what they have been denied. I don't know the extent of your relationship with this priest but if he wedded you guys it could be that she has always gone to him for marital guidance and maybe just maybe there were things you did that made him support her move to build a house without your knowledge. I do not know what happened in your home and I am not saying the priest is right. If I had a friend whose husband was a serial cheater or beat her or was a bounder I would support her in building a house so God forbid he one day beats her and she decides that she has had enough she can move her children to a safe place and at least make it easier for them to restart their lives. So if you did none of these things and your wife built that house simply because now she makes enough to do so then I would say you have every right to be angry. BTW all those properties you guys had is it in both your names or just yours?
All other properties are in our name except this "strange" one. |
gbanikiti: there's a difference between telling her husband and seeking for permission from him. I still find it hard to believe she didn't tell him. As I said earlier, the story isn't complete without the other side of the story.I say she no tell me abi na you dey follow me live me with wife? Abeg talk another thing jor ![]() Even the Priest that should be in his early or mid-sixties was dombfounded when I confonted him over the phone and you are there saying I knew before hand. It was when I told him that my wife was by my side saying hi that he admitted he knew waht I was talking about. He denied initiially. |
texaco1: @op ,My father-in-law is late. |
texaco1: you are not getting the point , the man is not angry that his wife is rich or making progress in life , what is paining and hurting the man is that she betrayed his trust by doing what she did without informing him , if she had informed him and he refused but yet she went ahead that is another issue , but living , sleeping and eating with a woman that is building a house and yet she says nothing about it is LIKE SLEEPING WITH YOUR ENEMY , she can even kill the man if told to do so by the same people that told her not to inform her husband about the building projectThank you. |
smartchoice: Then you're finished...I mean seriously finishedNo, I think the Priest is finished rather cos my family has resolved to take the matter to his superiors. As for my mother-in-law, I wish her best of luck with other Priests and her other in-laws. As for me, God don open my eyes. |
@Ujujoan I have been very open to her from the beginning till date to the extent that I plan every single penny that I earn with her. And in those days when I was earning more than her, she was very open too. But the moment she got an upgrade, everything changed. As I type now, I do not know how much she earns again. The last time I stumbled on her payslip was 2 yrs ago. From my observation, the priest is only fleecing her and making money out of the whole project. Although I have not seen the documents, she told me they were prepared in her name contrary to the family tradition of Mr & Mrs in all our other properties. She's not acting out any revenge, I think she's being influenced by bad friends. Most of her friends are women who are yet to have children in their marriages and are having running battles with their husbands. I have tried to dissuade her from listening to advices from such friends but all to no avail. |
@Law-confessor Thanks. I have been very prayerful ever since I noticed some strange affilliations between my in-laws and Priests generally and after taking a closer look, I could see some wordly tendencies among the Priests which made me to be extra-vigilant. If I hadn't been strong spiritually, I would not have been able to confront the erring ones among them. Of course, I have informed my family who are bent on getting to the root of the whole matter. This is certainly far too much for me to handle alone. |
smartchoice: Forgive her..... but start your own plans don't change your attitude 2wards her....but deep inside plan well...include that priest in your plans too cos am sure he's screwing your woman! Meanwhile nothing is sorted until a medical test proves paternity...as regards the children.Sorry to say but I suspect the Priest is screwing my mother-in-law instead. |
smartchoice: Are they your biological children?!Yes, they are all my biological children. |
@Nasville You're very right. Her mother is her mentor and I later learnt after we got married that that was how she treated her husband when he was alive. She keeps a couple of bad friends which I have been able to put under check to some extent. And as for changing church, I did that sometime last year when my kids mentioned to me that their mother exchanged gifts with a certain Priest that was also very close to my family without my knowledge. That was the first major issue that shook my marriage to its foundation but somehow, God gave me the grace to handle that after I had banned the Priest from my home and changed Parish. |
I have confronted her already and she went down on her kneels begging for forgiveness immediately. But then, trust once lost is difficult to gain back in a relationship. So even though I have forgiven her, I really don't trust her any longer because I now have this strong feeling that she has some unterior motives. I have also confronted the Priest too and he was speechless and in shock as to how I manage to find out. As for the paternity issue, I have no doubt the children are mine as they are my carbon copies both the male and female ones. Besides, where I hail from, I would have been a dead man by now if I wasn't the biological father of my children. So, that's sorted. |
smartchoice: Send her outta your life immediately!I have thought about that but it doesn't seem a good option to me as I love my children so much. They love me too and are so fond of me. |
I have seen similar threads on this topic before but never imagined it could happen in my marriage. My wife and I have been married for about 10 years now and we have been blessed with both male and female children. For the first 7yrs of the marriage, I earned about 8x my wife's salary and everything was sweet and rosy. We were the envy of most families with houses and landed properties both in the village and the city where we live. But about 4yrs ago, my wife got a better job which made her salary slightly higher than mine. But more importantly, the new job gave her access to bulk money by way of loans, grants, etc and ever since, my family has never been the same again. My wife suddenly became unruly, she doesn't consult me on any issue concerning the family again. I have sat her down on countless occasions to know what the problem is but she refused to say what is responsible for her sudden change in attitude. Even when I seek her opinion on projects concerning the family, she shows indifference most times. I then resolved to continue to engage her and be as open as I can hoping that things would improve and indeed I really noticed some slight improvement. But when I was about to settle down and relax, I got the shocker of my life -my wife had built and completed a building without my knowledge! As if that was not shocking enough, I later found out that the man who has been fronting for her on the said project is the same Priest (Reverend Father) that joined us in holy matrimony!!! I am really confused right now, having mood swings between laughing and angry at the same time. I just don't know how to handle this. |
ileobatojo: For me, I knew nothing about what Buka and Debrief said. Didn't know your moniker till this thread. My responses have been based on your first post alone. It told the whole story as far as I'm concerned.Okay na, you people have won. I will not deal with him again but still will not take any nonsense from any wife or inlaw under any guise ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Happy Birthday Blessed Mother Mary. |
It's a shame that GEJ has given Nigerians the room to think that the worst Nigerian president of northern extraction till date has performed better than him. |
Fake news. |

Vonwolf: I wonder how people talk about men of God and things of God with so much disrespect, don't just comment because you intend to amuse people from your post, did d bible tell u that offerings and tithes should be lodged into any account? I'm not a member of the church but I was deeply moved by your scathing remarks,as u suggested what amount of tax do u tink can make him poor and make the body of christ flounder? Or has the tax collected by govt improve ur living condition? If u cannot respect him for who he is then respect him cos of God. NL has been flooded with kids.Typical brainwashed Nigerian Christian |

so please can someone fill me in on the reason the wife gave for building her house without letting her husband know.
but at the end my final decision will be that I have forgiven her and will still remain married to her for the sake of my children. My mother-in-law is not going to find things funny too but unfortunately, I have no control over that either
