With so much happening in our world daily, destabilization and uncertainty in our environment, work, leadership, security, Trump, Brexit and many other morden day disruptions, it’s become almost impossible for us to try and predict accurately the twist or turns that our life might take at any given time as we continue in this journey of life. Most of these uncertainties has ended up giving several people a false sense of stability, safety and security, yet while we all seem to struggle daily, and strive to provide for our families in the mist of all this earthly chaos, some people seem to always thrive within the confounds of all this uncertainty and adversity and some people don’t. So, I ask, what is it that those people who thrive do different from those that don’t, or what distinguishes the people that perform exceptionally well in this environment from those that don’t. How do did they thrive from the position of vulnerability, adversity and uncertainty, weathering all the same storms we all faced, yet, don’t just mainly survive like others, but prevail in their chosen fields, neither do they simply succeed, but excel within the same chaotic environment that we all find ourselves living within. One answer is that they are aware that they face all this adversity and uncertainty they cannot control and will continue to do so, but in the same vein, they reject or disagree with the fact that forces outside their control or chance events will determine their outcome in life or their destiny. The other answer, I believe we can easily find in the word “Consistency”. Consistency could be defined as the quality of achieving a level of performance which does not vary greatly in quality over time. The consistency we put into our chosen task or goals is what I believe differentiates us from one another, and ultimately separates the high achievers from lower level performers. Few examples, two students being thought over a semester at university, both must attended lectures and tutorials the same number of times, both live in the student accommodation on campus, both travel the same amount of distance to lectures, yet one decides to study a module regularly even when there’s no test or assignment due, while one waits for the date of the exams or test to be announced before he dare takes a look at his lecture notes. The result of which student will do better is quite clear that it would be the first. Or two guys who decided to embark on a 500 miles walk to a destination, they were to travel through all sorts of weather conditions and rough terrains to arrive at their destination, with both guys setting off from the same starting point, the first guy decides to pace himself and walks only 25 miles every single day, in the sun, cold, rain, felling sick or strong, wind in front or wind behind him, whatever the condition or situation he walks his 25 miles then sets up camp wherever that 25 miles ends in preparation for the next day’s walk till he arrived at the final destination. The second guy, equally excited about the adventure starts off from the same camp location and in his excitement walks for 50 miles on the first day, 50 miles the second day, but when the weather became unfavourable on the third and fourth day, he remained inside his tent, then on a few other days he only managed to do 20 miles due to a split in his toe, and sometimes when he just didn’t feel up to it he’ll walk for 15, 30 or 10 miles respectively , so his entire pattern of walk was disjointed and not consistent…I shouldn’t t need to ask who you think would arrive at the destination first, and correctly so, by a far stretch of margin too. With the mindset that practice things in a consistent manner, we’ll develop a clear-cut view of the goal we want to achieve which inevitably keeps us on track, it also provides us with the power to overcome the discomfort of committing to a level of performance regardless of the conditions we face and incidentally keeps us on the same level of performance even when things are favourable and good. Confidence in our ability to perform well and remain on top of our field doesn’t come from motivational speeches or blind hope. It comes from being consist in everything we do through all situations and circumstances. #OurDailyDose www.Facebook.com/Tonywilliamms:

For me to even attempt to define Love correctly, I’ll have to try and find several words that will include all the components of love which is quite difficult with the use of English language. Other languages use at least three to four words to describe the different kinds of Love that people feel and experience. In Greek (eros, philia, agape), In Latin (amor, delictio, caritas) etc. However, most people have the tendency to over stress only the sexual or erotic aspect of Love, which often clouds their judgement of Love and how it should be expressed in the context of a relationship and to others. Having said that, in all fairness to them, the pleasure of the eyes kick starts the beginning of love in their minds, as nobody loves if they haven’t first been delighted by something seen, however I believe that once one has a reasonable understanding of your commitment in love to your spouse, there should be no other justifiable reason, why one’s eyes should find pleasure or delight in anything sexual or erotic towards somebody else other than your partner. And yes, I understand love is a matter of feelings, and yes, we all might have the tendency to develop loving feelings towards someone else other than our spouse or partner, but we ought to also ensure that our feelings don’t end up becoming a violation of the trust in the relationship or marriage. There is quite a lot of distance between the first sighting and the first “banging” lol (for those in a committed relationship), a lot of lies and covering up must be strategically or cleverly put in place, and even while we do all that, one is presented with numerous opportunities to say NO or have a change of heart from his/her actions. Therefore, In exhibiting love, it’s one’s duty to do good to others as within the powers available to us, and yes, we will find differences in love from time to time in respect to the feelings we have towards those who we love, in comparison to how we love ourselves, the truth is, when we choose to love our partners less than we love ourselves, all we develop is a pattern of affection towards them, when we love them just like we love ourselves, we develop a friendship with them, but when we love them more than we love ourselves, we are fully devoted and committed to them and can never wish or cause them any harm. #OurDailyDose Like my Facebook page: http://www.Facebook.com/Tonywilliamms/ You Tube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/c/Tonywilliamss

TGIF.. yaaaayh, it's Friday and we've all travelled 4 working days since the start of the week to bring us to today, but just like the journey of life, I figured that most of us get to a point or stage in life when we are suddenly awakened by our consciousness or are faced with a daunting feeling as if we had dozed off during the first and halfway through the second quarter of our lifespan, only to wake up in the late end of the second half trying to find meaning to our lives, why we are the way we are and act the way we do. Being at that stage leaves us in great difficulties to get any form of clarity or understanding to our present position or situations without proper self searching, because assuming we did hypothetically doze off during the early quarters of our lives it's therefore almost impossible to remember what happened, when and where on the journey which led us to where we are. While some will ask deep self searching questions when going through such situations and find answers, many simply don't, and end up becoming baffled and irritated by the inability to make any kind of sense of there life and why they're docked at this unpleasant terminal of life. Such people turn to all sorts of self destructive activities to find social comforts (alcohol, drugs, illicit sex, gambling etc) or as a form of defence for their situations or wondering mind. The truth is, each of us is the star character in the story of our own life, and any possibility of finding out how we got to where we are can only be found in rewinding the movie of our life to the beginning, if we're brave and courageous enough to do this in spite of what we know we might find and expect to find, then we'll be at a perfect point to start putting the broken pieces of our lives back together again. Failure to acknowledge and take these steps simply means our life will be a reenactment of what we are and always have been, as humans have the tendency to reenact past attitudes, especially those we've developed from early stages. #OurDailyDose

Don’t we all get to that place when we begin to doubt ourselves and fall short of the courage and tenacity needed to fulfil our goals and desires. In most cases, after we’ve dreamt those big and beautiful dreams, visualise ourselves at that well established place or position of our wishes fulfilled, we suddenly develop an anxiety rush that undermines any mental courage we need to take the first step towards our desires or persist towaRds our goals. Anxiety is not a bad thing to feel, if felt it in the right way, it could keep us out of harm’s way and cause us to be more careful and purposeful in our undertakings. But the moment we begin to let that part of our brain that cause anxiety totally override the courage centre of our brain it becomes easy for us to begin retreating from every mission and goal we set ahead of ourselves once we feel an element of fear, risk, pain or uncertainty. The truth is, although everyone probably might suffer some form of anxiety good or bad, courage is the total opposite, some people have it, and some people simply don’t. But does that mean I’ll let you off here? NO, Absolutely NOT!! ….this is the point where the saying “Practice makes perfect” comes into play, as humans we have the mental capacity to perfect our skills at almost anything we do, once we put our mind to it.. Sportsmen and women at the top of their games practice constantly day and night to remain at the top of their fields, Lawyers, Doctors and many other Professional all operate a “PRACTICE” of their respective professions to keep them fresh, eliminate anxiety and on top of their fields, I’m sure you could think of many more examples yourself …Practice eliminates fear and anxiety and gives us the courage that allows us to take the very first steps through and towards those things we may be afraid of …Start today, you'll never know how easy it might turn out to be unless you nurture the courage to take the very first step, you’ll be surprise, what you terms as boundaries might just begin to fall in pleasant places for you #OurDailyDose

Studying any form of marketing modules, one will often come across the use of many marketing abbrieviations, theories or acronyms, like the 4Ps (Price Product Promotion and Place), CTA (Call to action), KPI (Key performance indicator) ROI (Return on investment) and so many other marketing jargon like that..referred to as the marketing mix. So today I’m using a marketing mix with my own twist called the 5Ps (Prior Planing Prevents Poor performance). Need I really say anymore? the 5Ps speaks for itself, even the writers of the marketing mix and theories, put them in place to created a way for us to maximise our effectiveness in all areas of our chosen fields. The 5Ps (Prior Planing Prevents Poor performance) therefore not only applies to marketing, but the concept can be applied to all areas of our daily lives. Ever so often we hear the saying “if we fail to plan, we plan to fail”, but planning in itself doesn’t have to be some looooooooong drawn out process of some complicated blueprints for our lives, I seriously believe its simply should be about applying an adequate level of thoughts to the next step, action, process or words were about to utter, bearing strictly in mind the action were taking at that particular time and its consequences. Period!! A daily practice of having a quiet thinking time for a few minutes to clearly outline and visualise our tasks, targets and activities for the day will undoubtedly prevent poor performances, and and allow us to put necessary things into the right order of priority. #OurDaily Dose if it blesses you in any way Please share www.tonywilliamss.com www.Facebook.com/Tonywilliamms/

Today's is Monday !! The days, weeks and second month of February 2017 is rolling along, Not waiting, not stopping and not taking time to find out whose sleeping or slumbering.. It reminds me of the days when we use to run to catch a bus to schools in the streets of Lagos. The Bus stops were always soooooo packed full of commuters in the mornings, and with so much traffic on the roads, the bus drivers would always refuse to pull into the bus stop in order to keep his spot in the moving traffic, at the same time his conductor would be shouting at the top of his voice the destination where the bus was going .. "Ceeeee Mmmm Ssss" "CMS, CMS" "Costain no enter ooo" "enter with your change ooo" suddenly there will be a whole surge by commuters heading in that direction all running after the bus and struggling to get on at the same time, this all would be happening whilst the bus continued in motion, several times you'll see people drop on the road side as they tried to hop on the bus with the wrong foot and get trampled over by others, some getting seriously injured in the process. This is exactly how we should look at the days, weeks and months as they roll by us in 2017. A lot of those people who easily got on the bus were always those who were alert, prepared and always in anticipation of what the next call out would be, even when they couldn't get on one bus, they went back again to prepare for the rush for the next bus coming.. One could also say that those who hopped on with the wrong foot and fell at times hadn't normally calculate their steps properly or anticipated the call or level of people surge around, it's the same with the rush for success and achievement... There are 100s of people trying to become what you want to become, 1000 of men looking for wife materials and women looking for suitable life partners, people looking for the same job, same car, same house and same amount of money you want.. but some prepare themselves for the race to their goals while some don't .. which one are you? We all have a destination, TIME is the bus we need to hop on to take us there, and how we decide to use time, determines how we will get there, when we will get there or if we will get there at all...#OurDailyDose Have a fantastic week ahead If my post blesses you in any way... Thank God it's Friday, When Friday comes, some folks are truly grateful it's the beginning of the weekend, and nothing beats the fact that they could get a few precious days off work to recoup and refresh themselves from all the hustle and tussle of the last five working days, the early morning waking up, and going to bed late at night, the rush to get the kids ready in time for school, the struggle to get to work on time, pressure of meeting targets and deadlines at work and many others daily chores. To others TGIF is probably a cliche, because every weekday is a Friday to them, not that their super rich and comfortable, neither that they're out of work and actively seeking employment, but simply because they've categorically refuse to do anything about their own circumstance, they wake up each morning awaiting the fairy to wave its magic wand and make things happen for them, or always awaiting lady luck to drop at their doors, they await change, instead of making the change, these folks are simply comfortable in their own mess .. .. To them I say this .. Whatever the amount of effort one puts into anything in life, the least thing that will happen is that we'll get the corresponding amount of reward in return... put in average and get average reward, put in hard work and get hard work reward ..put in nothing and you'll get absolutely nothing in rewards.. it's not rocket science it's the law of seedtime and harvest ... #OurDailyDose

Today's post will perhaps be one of the easiest to script, because the analogy I’ll be using to conceptualise the topic and how it could compare to our daily life is one that i’m quite familiar with. Some of the reason I mentioned it will be easy is because Football, soccer, sets, the beautiful game or whatever you choose to call it, has been a way of life for as far back as i could remember, from the humble playing streets of Lagos, Nigeria were we played barefoot on uneven sandy/stoney grounds, using plied up stones as goal posts, to the yearly “Associations Competitions” held around well known playing fields in Suru-Lere, Lagos. I actually played through the ranks of mosquitoes, babies, intermediates etc, and into the teenage days of the Principals Cup competition in secondary school, then on to NUGA games at University, before years of service doing justice to the Sunday league and semi-pro game in the U.K. fielding for the likes of Fisher Athletic , Dulwich Hamlets, Tooting and Mitcham, Croydon Athletic etc, and still religiously playing competitive footie every Saturday. Having produce my healthy playing resume, lol, it might be somehow obvious that I’m going write about the Player and the Game, but not only that, I want to also try and conceptualise the relationship between some key elements of the game of football and its winning teams, to the similarity it could bear to our quest for success in life. i.e. the field, rules, teams, team managers, goals, players, individual or star players, and training etc. Its fair to say there are a number of reasons why we either play, watch or become a devoted team supporter, and needless to say, each opinion differs depending on what end of the game you look at it from, but whatever end or angle one choses to look at it from, Football ultimately is about the game on the field and the player of that game on the field. Once I could get you to understand that, then the analogy and comparison will start to make sense. So how does Football relate to my personal success you ask? well it doesn’t unless your actually involved in the the game as a source of living, but certain elements of the game could paint a picture of life to us in general, how we live, challenges we face, our success and our goals and many more. In as much as there are so many aspects of Football that I could use to conceptualise this comparison, these few I think work best; The Rules: There are various rules that apply to the game of Football, from the amount of time the game is played for, the number of players and substitutes allowed on and off the pitch during game times, to the intricacies of the correct interpretations of the offside rule or what the referees considers as a penalty or free kick. My point is, this is exactly true to us as humans also, rules are put in place for us in life by our, parents, our teachers, organisations, employers, places of authority to some how create a level playing field for us all, the same rules apply to the rich and poor , (depending what country one lives in). Rules tend to be carefully scripted so as to seem non bias, not to say they always aren’t, but within the confines of those widely accepted rules, some people will choose to follow and flourish, while some will also follow and still not meet up to standard, never the less, its till a blanket rule, and was never made specifically to make any one particular team or individual prosper more than the other. The Field: A football pitch size varies at all levels of the game, hence it’s one will different size at grassroots and a different size at the semi-pro or English premier league levels, its a common misconception that Football pitch’s all across board should be the same size, the truth is they are about as random in size as Donald Trumps tantrums. Having said that, the acceptable size of pitch’s for senior players ranges between 100-130 yards in length to between 50-100 yards in width. Amidst all of that, two things are unchanging for senior pitch’s, (A) They must be level playing fields (B)They all have a standard goal post size. This is also almost exactly true of the human quest and search for success, we all have the same amount of time in a day to be productive, which makes each day on earth a level playing field for us all, regardless of the time we chose to wake up or start our day, we all have the same 24hrs given to us by God, how we chose to use those hours is also a free gift of choice given to us by God, but be rest assured, each day we spend on earth has visible or invisible goals posts attached to it, for us to hit a target, miss a target or simply not even attempt the target at all. The Team: The team is normally carefully selected by the Team manager, he decides who plays, what position he wants them to play, and is also charged with the responsibility to field or bench players at will. We tend to believe that players are selected to the team based on their performance, yes to an extent in some cases, but far from reality in others, the manager tends to have a set of favourite, trusted or reliable players he fields in each game and implements his winning strategy around them, regardless of whether it works for him and the team or not. Its well known that some players that are made to warm the bench in various clubs are far better than some players regularly fielded, however, with the onus of team selection resting mostly and solely on the manager, all the players on the bench could do even with all their ability, is to simply hope and pray. Similarly, as individuals, life might not necessarily be fair to us, or might regularly deal us a harsh hand, perhaps we might even feel we’re very qualified to be hired for the job, like some of those benched players, yet never given the real opportunity to prove ourselves, my advise is, don’t despair, keep at it, keep going, keep training and preparing yourselves, keep equipping yourself, you’ll never know when you might suddenly be called or given the nudge to get off the bench and perform, and when that call comes, you have to be ready to perform. The Goal Post: This literally is the most important fixed structure on the field of play, its where the attacking team must try and kick the ball into in spite of hard defence lines in order to score as many points or goals as possible within the regulated time, to be classed as winners of the game. Without the goals post the game will be baseless, as one will simply have players running around the pitch for no particular reasons, neither will winners or losers be able to be identified or separated. In the same vein, its almost totally impossible to measure, identify or succeed in life if we don’t set ourselves goals and targets for ourselves. We would simply be like a player on the pitch having a kick around with no goal post to kick the ball into, making our existence on earth near enough to just unnecessary as we can’t identify if were winning or losing. The Star Player: Most teams have a star player, the star players are those who make a huge difference to their teams and teammates, they’re normally talented, strong, reliable, insightful and have a good understanding of the game, they give their fans a breath of hope when they’re in possession of the ball, they are the game changers and command a ridiculous amount of money in wages, endorsements and even during the transfer markets. The bit thats not normally mentioned very often about the individual star players, is the work and training they put into conditioning their body off the pitch. Most star players train exceptionally hard to remain in shape, and practice regularly beyond whats required of them to remain on top of their games, they are the ones that run the extra mile, practice their free kicks and dribbling skills long after every other team mate has headed off into the dressing rooms and a lot more. That in itself should speak volumes to us as as we strive to get to the top of our field, we need to understand that nothing is promised and nothing is free, where skills and talent will get us to, only hard work and tenacity is capable of keeping us there. So never live life from the perspective that everything will fall at your doorstep because you think your qualified for it. Strive to turn yourself into a star player for your Family, your spouse, your children or even your future, they are your team, and frankly they are relying on you. The ultimate purpose of the game is to win and entertain, all sides benefit win or lose, the winners are rewarded with trophies in cup games or at the end of each season, while the loser or runners up gain experience of how to try harder and not to lose next time. Either way, top level teams and players understand the need for preparation and training before every game, the players get bruise and battered but still keep going, they train rigorously, eat healthy and restrict themselves from certain social activities, the results being wins wins and more wins. Translate this into your daily routine, to get to the top of your field, graft hard and harder, go hard or go home, practice, read or prepare yourself for those exams, interviews or presentations longer than your friends, surround yourself with the right people that share your visions and goals with you, sleep early, wake up early, eat healthy, restrict and discipline yourself, No, you don’t always have to be in the club or hanging out with friends at the cost of neglecting you priorities, remember winners are define by the goals they’ve scored and achieved. 4 Steps to determine our destination in 2017. Thank God, we’ve swiftly arrived at the the start of February of 2017, in retrospect it seems like only a few days ago when we were all celebrating the festivities of Christmas and New Year, but the truth is, those celebrations were a month ago, and the year 2017 is truly up and running and definitely on its way, the question is, are we up and running too? or are we still basking in the aftermath of all the fun we had in the holiday season?. No matter what the answer is, its never to late to get stated with our goals, plans and purposes for the year, the major crime is not to take steps to start at all, and simply wallow in our thoughts and desires, remember the scriptures that say, “A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber” This will not be our portion in 2017 in Jesus Name. Consider these 4 simply steps to gain traction and sustain the climb towards your goals this year 2017: 1.Define your passion: We need to figure out exactly what we love doing this year, something that if we even had to do for less pay or free, we’ll still go ahead and do it happily.. whatever that is, it might turn out to be our passion, and if it is, why don’t we try and monetise it?. There are several ways to turn our passions into profits in this day and age, through the internet, social media and various other platforms. We simply need to start by picking an entry point into our field or niche, it doesn’t have to be a big bang start as we might think, just start, and grow as we go. 2. Be Deliberate: On the road to achieving our goals, so many things will struggle for our attention, bills, finance, security of our job, families, social circles and even haters, the idea is to be deliberate about the mission we have chosen for ourselves and the outcome we want to achieve from it, set priorities that are measurable and achievable and pen out a daily, weekly or even monthly plan and checker on how to get there, incidentally that also helps us with the knowledge of how far we’ve gone, and how long we have left to go at each point. 3. Be Consistent: Consistency really means “to act or do something in the same way over time, especially so as to be fair or accurate” consistency therefore is key, don’t be distracted don’t loose focus, keep at it even when it gets harder, remember, we said it was our passion and we would have even done it for free, so keep going so that we could achieve a desired and fulfilled outcome and perhaps even get paid for it eventually, nothing was ever promised to be easy in this struggle, so don’t give up. 4. There are always alternatives ways: Sometimes these ways might be harder, longer and requiring us to start the climb all over again, but one thing we could be sure of, is that, if we fall and fail and learn from our mistakes at the point of every fall, we’ve not simply failed, but failed forward and have once again discovered another route that we now know will not get us to our desired destination or to the wish we want fulfilled. Have a fantastic February #OurDailyDose Like our Facebook Page:https://www.Facebook.com/Tonywilliamms/ Subscribe to our You Tube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/c/Tonywilliamss

Habakkuk 2:2 ..Writing down our visions and goals daily, short term or long term does 3 things. 1. scripts us a blue print: Theres no major buildings, projects or business around the globe that are ever built or started before the architectural drawings, business plans or blueprint are produced. 2. Makes it measurable: When our visions, goals and objectives are penned down on paper, it becomes more orderly, and provides us with an order of importance of what task needs to be completed first, plus we begin to see clearly the steps we’ve already taken towards achieving our goals, plans and purpose as were able to cross off even the smallest things we’ve done on the list. 3. Gives us a sense of achievement: Most people abandon their dreams simply because they find it difficult to comprehend meaningfully or visualise the little steps they’ve already taken towards achieving their goals. When we write our goals down, and cross them off a list once they are achieved, we can celebrate ourselves at each benchmark, this also encourages us, and gives us a new burst of life to go after the next goal on the list. In doing so, everything we’ve penned down leaves us feeling optimistic of signs of things to come. If you haven’t already started, then let’s start today, penned down your next move, visions, dreams goals and objectives, it would make a huge difference to your day and success race #OurDailyBread. First it was the Matharoo's for owning a website that was allegedly use for extortion.. now it's Pretty Mike for allegedly dehumanising women by putting dog chains on them .... Erm, for a Country that heartily embraces people having servants, house boys and house girls from minimal ages who they treat worse than slaves, should dehumanising be the right reason given for his arrest? And in the case of the Matharoo's .. is the state government flexing its muscles to much and on a mission to clamp down on people's social liberties? #Justasking? Please note the asking of these questions is no representation of my opinion or opinion on the matters at hand... just food for thought.. and trying to identify if their any double standards in operation here ? |
Don’t attempt to kick start your year off fully before reading this; 2016 is far gone, and steadily being forgotten, memories of the year are gradually being deleted off our mental hard drives, while for some, those memories are memories of boundaries falling for them in pleasant places and having a delightful year, for others, 2016 might just be full of memories they’ll rather not recall forever, it’s just the way life is. Well, the good news is, if you’re as much as reading this post; then you’ve made it into the new year 2017. Which simply means we are numbered once again amongst the living beings at this precise moment, which could translate to having the privileged of staring down the race track of 2017, and if each month left ahead this year are each compared to 10 metres of a 110 metres hurdles race, it then gives a good indication of how hard and how fast we’ll have to work to gain a price and complete the race in what will be record time. The beauty of the start of each year is that almost the entire world tries to mentally reposition itself to do new things, bigger and better than they did the previous year, people make new year’s resolutions, governments do cabinet reshuffles, even football clubs get a new transfer window opened to buy new players at the start of each year; so basically, the start of the year literally gives everyone a chance to start afresh or to refresh ourselves, clear our caches and go at it again, go at our failures again, go at our goals not attained, our wishes not fulfilled and our dreams that didn’t manifest in the previous year. Needless to say, there are probably 101 reasons or external factors why many of us fail to reach our targets or our goals we set for ourselves in the space of a year, or possibly why we make new year’s resolutions and find ourselves not following through, or only following through half way before we quit. What I’ve discovered vividly in this noisy world we live in, is that, the number one hurdle we need to jump over each time we set a new year’s resolution, a goal or a target, is the hurdle of our very own mind, and most importantly, the hurdle of paying ATTENTION to what’s important, which will enable us achieve our set desires and build some form of traction for our resolution at the start of each year. I say this, because in retrospect the world we live in today consist of hundreds of things that seek for our attention each moment of the day, things which systematically creep in our face to unconsciously grab our attention, or things we ourselves do habitually which side tracks our attention span for an average of at least 5-10 minutes at any giving time. Even when we’ll consider ourselves at our busiest, we still get caught unaware by the secret entry of distraction, which in many ways simply disguises itself as an important element of our time of day. Amazingly, unknown to many, most of the reasons why we fail to meet our goals, hit our targets or follow through with our resolutions and plans we set out with at the beginning of each year are not simply because we lack the will power, tenacity or mental capability, the major reason is because were often DISTRACTED. Hence in this quick post I’m going to present a list of 5 things that can be major distractions to us in this attention seeking 21st century, and which could potentially prevent us from sticking to our resolutions, achieving our goals or hitting our targets for the year 2017. Distractions can present itself in form of social media, communication devices, misplaced priorities to mention but a few Often, distractions not only prevent us from focusing on the task at hand, but it comfortably captures our attention in a way that before we know, has bitten deep into the core of our daily activities pushing everything else which is important to our goals and achievements aside. Hence the aim of this article is to help identify some of the common forms of modern day distractions that have the capacity to cloud our focus, and outline how we can manage them properly or even do away with them completely in our endeavour to meet our set goals and abide by our resolutions for the year 2017. 1. Technology: Wherever the word technology pops up, we no longer think its predominantly applies to Nasa space missions, military aircrafts, war ships or submarines, nowadays technology has wiggled its way into almost everyone’s way of life, from the kindergarten who could operate a tablet or smartphone perfectly unaided, to the teenager or middle age individual whose an expert on all social media platforms, all the way up to multinational cooperation’s that leverage off the world-wide web to bring their products and services closer to the final consumers, frankly, there’s never been a time in history where man has been so dependent on technology and all our present day digital clutter for his proper earthly functional existence. [img][/img]However, Technology is not the distraction, it’s the lack of human digital responsibility and discipline that is the major cause of most distraction. Yes, I used the words “digital responsibility” as some of the major distractions from technology that affect us are all mainly digital. Our smartphones, the internet, social media, emails, TV and so on, with social media being the major culprit of all. Research shows in the UK that the average person in 2015 had about 5 social media accounts and spends around 1 hour 40 minutes per day browsing these accounts, to put this into perspective, that means in a week, if the average working week hours is capped at 40 hours per week, we find ourselves spending hours that amount to one whole work day of a working week browsing through our social media. It’s also said, that it takes around 15-25 minutes to get fully back to focus on what you were doing after being distracted by a social media prompt or notification, add that to the minutes and hours already burnt up during the day browsing and we can easily arrive at a day ending unproductively, with failure to complete our set tasks and targets. If we were to do that on a weekly basis for a period of a month, we’ll would easily identify how easy it is to deprived ourselves from attaining our full potential during the month, ultimately creating pressure and stress on our part. Therefore, it’s advisable to create a mindset that thinks digital responsibility always, Set specific times exactly that you want to browse, check for updates on your social media, reply post, return emails or have baseless conversations on the phone with non-productive friends. Importantly set those times to times when your less busy, if it’s not important leave it till late, while you give more meaningful and important things priority in your life. 2. Procrastination: Although not a member of the digital family of distraction, this non-technological form of distraction I would say is closely related to the digital form of distractions, and might as well be call a relative to them. Why? Simply because procrastination could be defined as the “avoidance of doing a task that needs to be done or accomplished by the practice of doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones” (sounds like a form of mental social media to me). Another definition of procrastination, which I think highlights the power of its destruction once it’s got a reserved seat in the fore-front of our mind, is the conclusion that describes procrastination as a “voluntarily delay to an intended course of action, despite expecting to be worse off by the delay”. In saying that, we all must personally identify what we consider as pleasurable substitutes for our less pleasurable ones, i.e. going to a club till the early hours of the morning, when you clearly know you have an important morning appointment and struggle to get out of bed early, or deciding to constantly put off important payments and bills even when you have the funds to pay it off, in favour of fashionable trends or fake flossing. Many times, people who procrastinate tend to believe that their procrastinating behaviour is not actually procrastinating, but that whatever they are doing is more important than the avoided one, they mostly tend to engage in pleasurable distractions or activities to prevent awareness and thoughts of the most important ones. Whichever category we find ourselves falling into, the idea is to manage our procrastination well enough to prevent it developing a deep and persistent root in our lives, and becoming a major form of distraction to our daily and ultimately future goals. To also combat procrastination, it’s important to set goals and resolutions that are measurable and achievable, as one of the major reasons why people tend to procrastinate is because they suddenly realise the size of their goals as so huge, it scares them off from taking any constructive actions towards it. We also need to discipline ourselves to do the priorities we set at all cost, and finally, we should never stop evaluating and revaluating our goals and priorities, plus our strengths and weakness until the set goals are attained. 3. Self-Doubt: The tragedy of self-doubters is not the fact that they’re in doubt about their own ability to achieve their goals, it’s the fact that they allow majority of their self-doubts to be bewitched and enchanted upon them by friends and haters alike, causing them to disbelieve in their own abilities, breeding skepticism in their self-belief and eventually causing them loose focus. Self-doubt basically says, we are incapable by ourselves of opening the door that leads to change in circumstances. These kinds of self-doubters tend to be fickle minded and believe everything they see and hear, they have a weak mindset to the extent that once their opinions or form of judgement is challenged, they become intimidated and curl back into their shells. Although they initially had a master-plan in place to achieve their goals, not guarding their hearts and minds with all diligence, and allowing all sorts of commentaries and advice from the wrong people into their situation, gets them distracted from the important things they need to focus upon. And if the only view or vision we have of ourselves comes from others, their opinions, their commentaries or perceptions, then the view of ourselves would be like the reflection we’ll get back of ourselves from looking into a crazy mirror at a carnival street party ….. all over the place!! One good way of conquering self-doubt is to understand the knowledge of these 3 things 1) That we are (2) Know and believe that we are (3) Delight in our being. The reasons are simple, because in these 3 things there is no true seeming illusions that will disturb us, as we don’t come into contact with these 3 things by our five senses of seeing, touching, tasting, smelling and hearing, and I’ll like to think that without any delusive representations of other people’s words or thoughts ringing in or head, I’m almost certain that “I am” or “we are” whatever we say we are, that we know, and can be delighted about. Therefore, keeping these 3 things in the fore front of our mind regularly keeps us in a constant state of self-awareness and creates room for our thoughts and mind to embrace its limitless potentials and bench any form of self-doubt or disbelief our 5 senses might be nurturing. Self-doubt can be deemed as ignorance, ignorance of not knowing the potential ability of greatness that lies within us, or knowing it and not believing in it…. Either way, ignorance that knows itself, judges itself and condemns itself, is not complete ignorance; to be that, it must be ignorant of itself also. 4. Social Circles: In anyway we decide to look at it, via technology, work, associates, member’s clubs, circles of faith, when the words “social circle” is mentioned, were mainly referring to people we class as friends or have allowed into our inner circle knowingly or unknowingly. Needless to say, the type of friends we keep around us gets us distracted or keeps us focused. As mentioned above there are friends whose words are toxic and negative, friends who don’t even believe in themselves, so they find it extremely difficult to believe in somebody else. If these kinds of friends hang around you too often, it’s only be a matter of time before you begin to succumbed to their pear pressure, and start believing in what they say. They’re the sort of friends that will say certain things are impossible to attain, simply because they can’t attain it themselves. For us not to get distracted and lose focus by the type of friends we keep, it is important to identify and differentiate our associations with friends based on mutual pleasure and reciprocal gains from those relationships in which each person is truly concerned with the good of the other. Identify what I’ll call counterfeit friends, that are unlikely to increase you by their associations, all they bred is distractions to your focus and progress, be unapologetic to drop a friend whose course of action or progress doesn’t align with yours this year 2017. As the saying goes 20 friends cannot play together for 20 years, neither is that necessary. Having said that, it’s also important that we have a passion for good and true friends, who we can share or thoughts and desires with, in life we all need some form of friendships, genuine friendships, I believe with good friends around us, we tend to be happier, think happier and act happier. Therefore, I always say friendship should be a partnership, as you are to yourself, so should you be to your friend. 5. Blurred Vision: Taking all the four points above into perspective, this last point envelopes them all into one pack. When we have no perspective of the end result we desire, a blurred vision of our goal, or perhaps we simply just find it difficult to visualise the outcome we want for ourselves in life, then were susceptible to fall foul to the power of any of the 4 forms of distractions listed above, if not all. Henry Thoreau once said “I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by his conscious endeavour”. If we were asked to temporarily step outside ourselves for a few minutes, and look at ourselves just as someone else will see us, what would we see of our true self? Would we see ourselves as bad, good, kind, horrible, beautiful or handsome etc.….? the ability to do that, is also the same power and ability we possess to visualise our goals and end results we desire, or the wishes we want fulfilled in our life. Don’t let our emotions shaped us or our life, we are not our mood, our thoughts or our feelings, the fact that we can even discern how we feel about them when we feel them, simply means also that we can change the way we focus and feel about them in order not to get distracted by them. Psychologist say, self-paradigm is the most fundamental paradigm in personal effectiveness, it not only affects the way we see ourselves it’s a benchmark for how we choose to see others also. With the power of our imagination and visualisation we can exercise a magical touch of sensible reality, hence when we constantly visualise and imagine the outcome of the result we want in or mind, it will be difficult to get distracted from working towards them. In conclusion, I’m not saying all these points above are the only forms of distractions that exist and prevents us from reaching our set goals and desires, I’m simply saying they’re a major cause of distractions to our goals and resolutions, and also have the capacity to halt our personal effectiveness and keep us stagnant, not only that, I also believe all these points mentioned above are holistic, and altogether play a wholesome part of affecting our personal and interpersonal effectiveness as humans. Playing close attention to them will enable us to take responsibility for our actions, as well as, identify when we begin to drift off the course of our predetermine goals and desires. My prayers are that this year 2017 each one of us will develop the capacity to focus on those things that we consider important to elevate us to another level of success and that every form of distraction that keeps us from focusing on the right things in our strive for success, we will have the strength to lay aside. May all our work in 2017 be prosperous Tony Williams Twitter: @tonywilliamms www.tonywilliamss.com |
Most of us get caught up in the whole essence of Christmas, the giving, the eating, the loving and the partying, and in all of that totally alienate the real reason for the season (Christ, Jesus Christ) the whole essence of Christmas has been drained out of the real owner of the day, an has been turned into a celebration of ourselves, our kids and our loved ones. So in this post I want to talk of the power in the Name of Jesus. In the world we live in today, I believe seasons like Christmas, where almost the entire world comes together to celebrate the birthday of Christ would be a great time to let people know about the person of Jesus Christ, his history and His purpose. The word “Name” could be describe as a word or number of words given to a person, place or thing or could be describe as a way in which they are address by. Everything in heaven and on earth has a particular name by which they are know or addressed, the stars, the skies, the clouds and so forth, likewise on earth almost everything man-made has a name, Countries, towns cities, streets, cars, money in denominations of currency, and so forth. Humans are not left out either, all humans beings the minute they are conceive into this world are given a name, so it was no surprise that when Jesus Christ came to this world he was given a name as well. His name wasn’t just given to him by his parents like most of us name our children, it was foretold to them by an angel, as the scriptures states, the angel appeared to Mary and told her that the child in her womb should be named and called Jesus. The significance of the name Jesus could be seen further down in the new testament between Philippians 2:9-11 to be precise where it states that Jesus being God, didn’t consider himself equal with God, but was obedient onto God even onto death, whereby God gave him the highest honor in heaven and the Name that is above all names, that at the mention of the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Chris is Lord.(paraphrased) In my attempt to break down this passage of Philippians “whereby God gave him the highest honor in heaven and the Name that is above all names, that at the mention of the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Chris is Lord.” I’ll be splitting the passage into three parts. And if we understand deeply what the writer of Philippians is saying here, then we will be able to understand the matchless power in the Name of Jesus, and that at the mention of that Name we are able to get, conquer or achieve anything we want in life. The first part: As I mentioned earlier, everything man-made on earth has got a name, people, job, careers, goals, material things all have specific names their known by or addressed by, hence what the scriptures is telling us here is that, as much as all these things we might desire on earth have a name that are given to them, there is a name that is above them all or that’s greater than them all, and not only that, the passage is also saying that all our desires whatever names we or the would may identify them with, are subjected to the authority of a bigger Name, the Name of Jesus, and that, at the mention of that Name Jesus they shall all bow to the authority in the greater Name. Why? simply because the creator of the earth gave Him (Jesus) a Name that is above ALL names, and in that name Jesus, He embedded power and authority into to it, whereby if you call upon that name with regards to any situation or circumstances which itself is known by an earthly name, title or addressed by, at the the mention of the Name of Jesus, that situation, circumstance or whatever its called will have to bow to the greater authority. So if its a job you want, subject the job name to the Name of Jesus, Money, subject it to the Name of Jesus, house, car, whatever it is you want, subject it to the name of Jesus, once you believe in the power of the Name Jesus, and what your asking for is aligned with God’s will for our life, it will surely come to past. The second part: I’ll like to address where the scripture states that “every knee shall bow” … my submission here is simply that for something to have a KNEE it has to be a living thing, a person, animal whatever you choose to call it, there has to be some form of life in that thing for it to be able physically bend its knee and bow it its head.. non living things, could be made with knees, i.e mannequins, statues, tables, chairs and so forth, but non of them actually have the ability to kneel, bend, or bow by themselves without any form of human intervention, hence what the writer is assuring us in this Philippians scripture is that, anything that has a name, that’s a living thing, that has a knee and that is able to comprehend or sense things of its own accord, at the mention of the Name of Jesus, a Name that is above all Names which has been given the the authority above all other Names, will have to bend its knee and bow to the power in the name of Jesus, what sort of things could these be? well, I’ll say, sickness, anxiety, fear, depression, habits, addiction etc, they all have some form of names, and reside in the bodies and minds of living humans being that are alive and have knees, hence they all can be subjected to the authority in the powerful Name of Jesus. The third part: The last part of the passage states that “and every tongue confess that Jesus Chris is Lord” ……this part I could say, applies to the beneficiary of the victory, (us) what its saying or trying to signify here is that, after we have called on the Name of Jesus upon your situation or circumstance and got the victory over that situation by seeing the intervention of God over that situation or circumstance, and knowing fore sure without a doubt that its been the hand and the power of the Almighty God that brought us victory, we would be able to confess with our tongue through our mouth that “Jesus Christ is Lord“. And as we already know, only living things have tongues, but only humans beings have tongues that allow them to speak, acknowledge, praise or confess the awesomeness of God. The world is a noisy place and in order to be heard in any noisy environment we always have to raise our voices, There's really no difference with that and the real world that we live in as humans today, with so many things seeking for our mind and attention its becomes literally impossible to be heard or remembered in this busy world we live. Hence in order to be heard, known or achieve a goal or attain any form of success we simply need to be specific about what we want and also step up things a notch, we can't keep doing the same things and expect different results, neither can we allow ourselves and destiny to be shaped or determine by our past or present circumstances, we need to understand ourselves fully, consistently have a deep discussion with ourselves about who we are, where we are in life and where we want to be?, only then could we paint a true and honest picture about our current situation and how we can improve on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6LEKpYsvDo Enjoy the video For more interesting videos visit anyof the following; website: http://www.tonywilliamss.com/ YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/c/Tonywilliamss (Please Subcribe) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Tonywilliamms/ (Please Like my page) |
Happy new month #worldchangers Wishing everyone a happy new month. Remember no matter where you are at the moment, good place or bad, it's most probably gonna change for the better or probably gonna get worse ... But one thing that will always remain constant throughout the length and breath of our life span is the knowledge of who we are... Therefore if you find yourself presently in a place where you don't want to be, the good thing about it, is that at least you've identified with yourself that you shouldn't be there, you've understood the knowledge of who you are, which is the first step towards changing your circumstances, because if your saying you shouldn't be in that present spot or state your currently in, then in your head there's a better place or picture you have in mind. Lock that picture of where you want to be or are supposed to be down with all your grit and strength, intentionally, religiously and decisively work towards it each and everyday, never loose sight of it nor let it out of you mind. Persistently follow after it like its the only thing that matters, even when you fall, fail or are stopped in your tracks or pace, the minute your back on your feet pick it up and chase it down again.... I could assure you that something will break and give way to your tenacity and persistence to bring you in tuned with the wish or wishes you want fulfilled in you life. https://www.facebook.com/toneywilliamss/videos/10154619595706147/ www.tonywilliamss.com Twitter: @tonywilliamms |
A bullet each was placed in the barrel of two 6 calibre 9mm pistols, and the barrel spun around till it came to a halt by itself, therefore not knowing where exactly each bullet in each pistol aligns itself with the hammer of that same pistol. If a pistol a piece was given to you and your enemy, both requested to point it at your head and asked to pull the trigger turn by turn, resulting in immediate death for the loser, who would you request to go first, and what’s the probability that you will live? |
Work on your personal relationship with God and pray for their salvation always, Simply let go and and let God take control ....bear in mind that your character may be the only Bible they ever get to read that might lead to their salvation and give them a change of heart. |
