Deji, thanks. I tried it but it didn't work. Just like before, after d windows logo n song comes on when booting d next thing it displays is a blackscreen instead of my desktop. How can i change my dvd drive or how do i get a usb dvd drive but isn't it possible to change system dvd drive cos mine is d external lens type. Pls any info on d cost of a new or fairly used one. @Kevdee4reel The only thing you need to concentrate on is getting your laptop to boot into windows before thinking anything else

Have you try getting to the Bios where you off it back on pressing F2, if bios dont boot up then your laptop needs repairing. if it does

boot into bios load default settings and try booting windows. if no bios then you"re stuck really. I see no way how you going to get

cd drive sorted if not booting bios. i wont advice you to replace the drive because is not a mechanical problem. like is software

problem and we need to troubleshoot that e.g. detected in the bios etc

turn it off disconnect pheripherals e.g. charger , printer , speaker and the battery which can be found underneath the laptop etc

I know this weired but does work. after the battery is out

hold your finger down on the laptop power button(30secs) this would discharge any static build up

connect just the charger back on again please repeatedly dont wait for anything else

keep pressing f8 on the kb

prompted with advanced boot option

select start windows normally

should now see the microsoft logo

@Jide oye. There are probably too much viruses on your system. Most people who download a lot also download viruses a lot and its pretty much likely you have a bunch of them in your PC. I expect it also takes a very long time to boot right??

Ok, I"ll take is windows vista? if that is the case click start 2cm below that there is a start search

box type in there battery at the top of that you see battery check utility click on it for me please

not all models came with this utility if you cant find it then,

Then turn off the laptop please back on again and keep hitting F10 until you come to Bios setup utiliyuse the arrow to navigate to diagnostics then hard disk self long test then press enter.

I"ll suggest you run a virus scan,if no threat found then you need to do a HDD and Memory self test.

Is a known issue with Nortons. have come across this so many times so am not suprise. I'm not trying to damage norton reputation, but as a technical adviser having heared so many complaints and trouble from people have come in contact with. I wouldnt advice norton as a product to install

1. slow down pc

2. errors

3. block internet connection e.g. wireless and wired connection

But one thing is for sure, norton is highly authenticated as a result of this, it will gives much problem. Good luck
