or saved more data on your pc?

what OS and RAM do you have

i forcefully shutdown my sys only to b asking me for username n passwrd wen restarted for repairing d OS. but i dnt know d username registered wit d sys. Is der any other way 2repair it cos i dnt ve d Software wit me? It is Vista

2 how many users are there on the pc and who is adminstrator

Deji n co, u're doing great! Pls help me. My toshiba sattelite pro A12O laptop (widows xp) does not boot. After presing on, it starts with "initializing and establishing link, " then to safe mode screen. If I choose to start windows using safe mode or normaly, it tells me that ", the following file is missing or corrupt: /windows/system32/config/system". Any key I press after this takes me to 1st screen and the trouble begins again. Pls help cos i dont want to format my laptop as. I hav vital files.

do you have the xp installation disk ?

if you do just change the boot sequence to boot from CD

that will repair the problem

@ Zim Drill. Thanks 4ur prompt reply. But I dont have an xp instalatn cd. Even if I find one, how do I use it such dat I dont cause more damage as I've not used xp cd b4. A step by step tutorial would help. Also wat do'u mean by ", change the boot sequence to boot from cd"

get the CD first we will give step by step guide to sort the problem

did you download anything prior to the problem?

you can go on hp site and download the driver for the keyboard

try to enter the safe mode and see if you can log on from there

I got the xp intallation cd as u directed and trying reparing my system with it. After accepting the windows licencing agreement, i did not see thr repair option that should promt me to press R. Pls where can I go from this stage?
