You have your points and I have mine. Nigeria might be a hell hole but it is still better than some countries. A Nigerian that does not invest in Nigeria either financially, physically or emotionally is not worthy of being called a Nigerian. I know many abroad that claim to be Nigerian yet when they do their taxes or fill any application and it asks for their nationality they quickly write down the country they are living. People like that are nothing short of foreigners. So this leads to my question, how can you claim to be a Nigerian when you have no vested interest in Nigeria? I guess most people do not understand the difference between having Nigerian ancestry and being a Nigerian. Seal and Sade clearly identify more with their foreign heritage than their Nigerian hence their investment in foreign land!

Financially: business/investment is about profit making and how conducive the environment is. As a businessman, if you can't maximise ya profits in an environment, why would you make a bad business decision and invest there? Would you those flagship American companies all over China, Indonesia, Philippines et al seeking cheap labour are anti-America for denying unemployed yanks jobs by giving them to Asians? How about IT companies in the West outsourcing jobs to Indian companies? Or Ford and other automobile companies that left Detroit in ruins for other cities?

And when you look at the field they're into - their talents won't be appreciated in a country like Nigeria where bang bang music reigns supreme. Fela Kuti lived in Nigeria...but how many Nigerians really appreciate his genius? But outside Nigeria, he's an iconic figure and a legend. And if he had lived in the UK/US - he would've been one of the most celebrated/richest musicians ever. He ought to be mentioned alongside The Beatles, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie et al. But living in Nigeria denied him that and most people caught on his music quite late. Now you want a Sade Adu who's an icon with one of the most loyal fan base on the planet to take her talent to naij and let it die there, no?

Physically/Emotionally: how more Nigerian can you get apart from ya looks? The last I checked they have Nigerian parents/phenotype/DNA and the emotional stress of being in the world as a black Nigerian is all you need. Ethnic Brits don't have black skin, broad nose, thick lips, and go through the stress the average black person goes through on the planet. What else do you want?

I believe you want them to go to Nigeria. Err, even if they were to move to Nigeria, what problems are they going to solve out there? John Fashanu left everything he was doing out here and moved to Nigeria, how many problems has he solved by being there physically and investing in the country financially?

Sade needs to drop an album and go on a world tour ASAP. I can't wait to see her on tour again. kiss kiss kiss

I still thought about her few days ago. She's been away from the music scene for too long.

Adele is copying Sade Adu's style which is release a number one album, go into hiatus for a few years, reappear suddenly by dropping a new number one album, go on tour and then into hiatus and keep repeating the cycle.

I hope as soon as Adele finishes her world tour and goes back to baby making/raising, Sade will drop another chart topping album.

For bearing Sade Adu and not changing it to some other funny name and even visiting her ancestral home in Ibadan speaks volumes.

She is of Nigerian descent same as Obama is of Kenyan descent, but I would not really call her Nigerian same we would not really call Obama Kenyan.

BTW based on that definition of a Nigerian, Seal who is also of Nigerian descent has won 4 grammy's.

You're even more silly than your name suggests! If you knew anything about context you would know that I was referring to their fame and financial capabilities and using it to demonstrate their outright preference for Britain than Nigeria, both stars clearly identify more with Britain than Nigeria. Additionally, you do understand the difference between having a Nigerian ancestry and being a Nigerian? If you don't then educate yourself and get the f*ck out!
. You sounded more foolish with this. To you what's the difference between Ancestry and Nationality?

You are right.

Sade has never denied her Nigerian roots or a obvious high regard for her father. From whatever source from which you read about her - her background is consistently stated. No white washing ( pun unintended), no dodging her identity no name change. I Nigeria accepts dual nationality which it does, so what's weird about her being Nigerian and British?

If she is cool with Nigeria, what are people carping about? Op is right she is a Nigerian and she is also British. No sweat

She and Nas have the best genes ever. They're like the real Peter Pan cos they never age.

I just saw a picture of Nas on instagram with The Game and this guy still looks like he's 20. And he smokes and drink.

It must be HGH coupled with the fact that black doesn't crack.

Meet The Only Nigerian Musician That Have Won Grammy Awards Four Times(photos)

Brief history(her Nigerian origin): Four-time Grammy award winner, Sade Adu, pictured above being carried by her dad, Adebisi Adu in 1959. With them are Sade’s mum, Anne and older brother, Banji.

Helen Folasade Adu, known professionally as Sade Adu or simply Sade, was born on January 16, 1959 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Her parents, Adebisi Adu, a Nigerian lecturer in economics of Yoruba background, and Anne Hayes, an English district nurse, met in London, married in 1955 and later moved to Nigeria.

Her parents separated, however, and Anne Hayes returned to England, taking four-year-old Sade and older brother Banji with her to live with their grandparents outside of Colchester, Essex.

Brief music history: Helen Folasade Adu, OBE (born 16 January 1959), known professionally as Sade Adu or simply Sade is a Nigerian English singer-songwriter,composer,arranger and record producer. With members Paul S. Denman, Andrew Hale, and Stuart Matthewman, she gained worldwide fame as the lead vocalist of the English band Sade. Following a brief stint as a fashion designer of men's clothing and part-time model Adu began backup singing for the band Pride. Growing attention from record labels led her, along with other fellow band members, to separate from Pride and form the band Sade. Following a record deal with Epic Records the band released their debut album Diamond Life(1984). The album sold over six million copies, becoming one of the top-selling debut recordings of the 1980s, and the best-selling debut ever by a British female vocalist.

Following the release of the band's debut album they went on to release a string of multi-platinum selling albums. Their follow up Promise was released in 1985 and peaked at number-one in the UK Albums Chart, the US Billboard 200, and went on to sell four million copies in the US. Sade would later go on to make her acting debut in the British film, Absolute Beginners (1986), before the release of the band's albums,Stronger Than Pride (1988) and Love Deluxe (1992). After the release of the fifth album, Lovers Rock (2000), the band embarked on a ten-year hiatus in which Sade raised her daughter. Following the hiatus the band returned with their sixth album, Soldier of Love (2010) which became a commercial success and won a Grammy Award.

Grammy Awards: She won the award in 1986 for Best New Artist,1994 for her song 'No Ordinary Love',2002 for 'Lovers Rock' and in 2011 for 'Soldier of Love'.Apart from Grammy Award, she has won several other awards like BRIT,American Music Awards and nominated in several others like MTV Video Music Awards,MOBO Awards,Billboard Music Awards,BET Awards,American Music Awards and more

Looool.

You sound like a frustrated weirdo and I think I need to take a break from this forum cos the overwhelming majority of you are ignorant and crazy at the same time. grin

So folks with their fathers' last names don't identify with their fatherland in ya obtuse mind, no? Err, and you're one the ret.arded illiterates who voted an illiterate clown called "Goodluck Jonathan" to rule over you for four years. When you hear "Sade Adu" and "Goodluck Jonathan" - which of the two sounds more Nigerian and shows someone identifying with an African heritage?

Also, how many Nigerians bought her albums? But you expect her to take her talent to a country where folks neither know what great music is, nor understand talent, apart from jumping on bandwagon, no? Most Nigerians wouldn't even know what great music is even if you were to smack their faces with it - unless it's on international charts and it's in vogue, and they want to also sound cool and current.

And nah, naij killed Fela Kuti's talent and the world didn't really get to see how great he was until recently. Except folks with an ear for great music everywhere, especially hip-hop artists who sampled him a lot, thus making him the sampled African artist ever. Before the broadway show in America and later Europe - most people didn't even know how great Fela Kuti was. That's also the reason why he never won a grammy award. Jimi Hendrix had to come to the UK where folks appreciated his craft before he was accepted in the US, and subsequently became a superstar. Ditto Public Enemy. Even Youssou N'Dour had to move to France and that's the guy that stole all the accolades that should've been Fela Kuti's. It has nothing to do with politics. Naij killed the global recognition that's Fela Kuti's birthright for being a genius.

Ya post pissed me off and I'm out for a week or two...off on holiday to a beautiful place muthaphucka. grin
