Is it just me or does Awaziem improve every team he plays for.

Boavista became a force with him in the squad. And now lowly Alanyaspor have kept a clean sheet against Gala.

I've not watched him at club level, so I can't tell.
Boavista barely escaped relegation last season, so what you talking about?

Nigerian players who shone across Europe this weekend: September 17-18 (Friday & Saturday)

1. Umar "Sadika" Sadiq (CF) Brace (UD Almeria): Played 90mins+

AD Alcorcón 0-4 UD Almeria (La Liga Smartbank)

*Could have been a hattrick but he missed his penalty kick, hitting it on to the crossbar before the ball rebounded in off Jimenez's back. So it was recorded eventually as an Owngoal. In all, A brilliant performance from the technically gifted and intelligently mobile Umar. "Sadika" now tops the La liga Smartbank scoring charts. Expecting another high scoring season from him and surely La Liga will be his destination.

*58% passing accuracy, 2 chances created, 3 shots on target, 5 shots off target, 2 shots hit woodwork, 1 penalty miss, 2 big chances missed, 100% accurate long balls (1/1), 4/6 ground duels won, 4/6 aerial duels won, 3 tackles, 1 interception, 2 clearances, caught offside five times, was fouled once.

*4 goals, 1 assist in 6 league games (6 starts)

2. Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure (FW - Played LW) Goal (Watford): Played 73mins

Norwich City 1-3 Watford FC (EPL)

*56% passing accuracy, 2 shots on target, 1/7 ground duels won, 100% aerial duels won (3/3), 2 fouls committed, 1 tackle

*1 EFL Carabao Cup game (Zero start)

3. Oviemuno Ejaria (CM - Played LW) Brace (Reading FC): Played 90mins+

Fulham FC 1-2 Reading FC (Skybet/EFL English Championship)

*Beautifully taken goals. Showing what he can do when he plays closer to the box. His LW role has afforded him some bit of freedom to shoot at will when the opportunity presents itself. The second goal is my pick of the two. Brilliant first touch and show of strength to hold off the pressure from Tosin Adarabioyo before slotting in. Aside his goals, Ejaria is another Midfield option that would add something from the creative front. Has fine tendency to give throughballs. He, Alhassan, and Nwakali are Midfielders who can show their quality and make an instant impact if given the kind of chance Kingsley Michael (who hasn't played a competitive club game in a long while before being named on the NT list) and Bonke were given. With Kingsley, we saw a hard working Midfield grafter who did really well on his NT debut but we suffered Zero creativity from deep. We created nothing through the middle. Not even one single lines-breaking Midfield delivery. But I believe with the aforementioned 3 options, we can address it. The latter two look more adept at it though (i.e. Lines-breaking passing that disrupts a team's defensive shape in seconds). TDB is yet another option.

*76% passing accuracy, 1 chance created, 2 shots on target, 2/4 successful dribbles, 7/12 ground duels won, 6/8 aerial duels won, 2 interceptions, 1 tackle, 2 clearances, 2 fouls committed, was fouled 4 times

Nigerian players who shone across Europe this weekend: September 19 (Sunday)

1. Cyriel Kolawole Dessers (CF - ST) Goal and Assist (Feyenoord): Played 7mins + 5mins added time off the bench
PSV Eindhoven 0-4 Feyenoord (Dutch Eredivisie)

*Dessers delivered what is perhaps the best Cameo performance of the weekend across Europe. What a way to mark your return to the Eredivisie and your Feyenoord league debut. And doing so against a tough rival. Dessers was surely in Cloud 9. Splendid showing in just 12mins.

*1 chance created, 75% passing accuracy, 1 shot on target, 1 shot off target, 100% dribbling success (1/1), 1/2 ground duels won

*2 games (Zero starts) for NT in 21/22

3. Moses Simon (LW) Double Assists (FC Nantes): Played 66mins

SCO Angers 1-4 FC Nantes (Ligue 1)

*Another Crossing Clinic (one from a cornerkick, the other from a low ball sent into the box) from Moses Simon saw him bag a brace of assists helping his side to a huge win on the road. His Crossing ability is a weapon when it does click. One of The Leading Assist makers in the European leagues currently.

*3 chances created, 2 big chances created, 2/7 accurate crosses, 1 shot off target, 3/7 ground duels won, 1/3 successful dribbles, 2 tackles, 1 foul committed.

*5 assists in 6 league games (6 starts)

*2 games (2 starts) for NT in 21/22

4. 23 y/o Stephen Odey (FW - CF) Brace (Randers): Played 88mins

*1 UECL game (Zero start)

5. Joe Aribo (CM) Assist and Masterclass Midfield Performance (Rangers): Played 90mins+

Glasgow Rangers 1-1 Motherwell (SPFL)

*What a Commanding performance from Joe Aribo. What a display. This is the sort of showing you drop that should see your team bagging all 3 points but his teammates let him down several times in the game. Aribo balled like a man possessed. Creating 8 chances in one game, 2 of which were huge chances squandered by his teammates. Must be disappointed at his team's result but he can be proud of his performance. This is the Aribo we ask for consistently. An Aribo who is bold, asserts his authority and steps up to the plate when needed. On his day, A Top player and Correct Baller.

*2 big chances created, 6 chances created, 76% passing accuracy, 100% dribbling success (3/3), 6/9 ground duels won, 2/3 aerial duels won, 100% accurate long balls (1/1), 1 tackle, 1 interception, 1 foul committed, was fouled twice, 2 shots off target, 3 shots blocked.

*1 goal, 1 assist in 6 league games (6 starts)

*1 assist in 1 league Cup game (1 start)

*2 assists, 2 cleansheets in 7 league games (7 starts) & in 8 games (8 starts) in all comps.

*2 games (2 starts) for NT in 21/22

7. Kelechi Nwakali (CM - Played predominantly on the right of Central Midfield) Solid Midfield Performance (SD Huesca): Played 72mins

SD Huesca 0-0 CF Fuenlabrada (La Liga Smartbank)

*Delivered close to 3 lines-breaking passes from deep as part of his midfield acts before making way in the 72nd min. The sort of deeplying playmaking qualities that stands him out among the midfield options we are considering for the Super Eagles.
This Midfield trait is missing in our Eagles' Midfield due to lack of bonafide Midfield conductors/dictators. Deeplying ball playing MFs who can pick a pass from anywhere and through any angle. Another player with this quality is Alhassan Yusuf of Antwerp. Ejaria is another who may come close but is likelier to do a job more effectively as an AM even though he does have the lungs for the CM role as well and improvise in the role. Hopefully, Kelechi continues to keep things up. He shouldn't play for a NT call-up. He should just keep playing to enjoy his football and get into real super consistent groove again and the rest will follow with time.

*84% passing accuracy, 6/8 accurate long balls, 100% dribbling success (2/2), 5/9 ground duels won, 2 tackles, 4 recoveries, 1 foul committed, was fouled once.

Opinion: Three Reasons Why Super Eagles Could Emerge As AFCON 2021 Champions
kabiyesi

As you set your foot on the majestic Cairo international Airport at El Nozha, Governorate, you're welcome by stern looking custom officers who ensure that you get a clear passage into the country without much ado.

Walking through the arrival Hall, pictures of Hassan brothers, Aboutreka and other Egyptian's football heroes with AFCON medals hanging on their necks adorned the walls.

But from Heliopolis to Tahir Square, football is being worshiped in Cairo, and every single Pharaoh fan believe Nigeria Super Eagles is Egypt's major threat in the African Cup of Nations.

Both countries will again rekindle their rivalry in Group D opener when AFCON 2021 get underway in Cameroon next January, and all eyes will be on Nigeria and Egypt to make an easy passage to the next round considering the strength and pedigree of Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.

While host Cameroon will be looking forward to avenging their second round defeat to Nigeria at the last edition in Egypt, other teams like Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Algeria, and Senegal are expected to parade a crack side that is capable of sweeping their way to the podium.

While the big boys are always tipped to win the competition, below are three major reasons why Nigeria could emerge 2021 AFCON champions.

1. Rohr Now Understand The Terrain Better.

Super Eagles gaffer seems to understand African football terrain better after three appearances at the AFCON with Burkina Faso, Gabon, and Nigeria.

He now understands all that he needs to put together to win Africa most prestigious competition: a near perfect goalkeeper, water tight defense, a well knitted midfield that is powered by goal hungry strikers that are armed to the teeth, and of course, a strong bench.

Rohr now understands how to be wary of injuries in the group stage and above all, keep his best for the last. These and many other factors would be a defining factor in his quest to win his first AFCON diadem.

2. Nigeria Is Blessed With The Right Talents.

Barring any injuries, Nigeria seems to parade the most talented and youngest squad at the moment with some its players playing their trade is some big European clubs. Besides, the experience gained in Egypt will be useful for most of the players that will fly the green and white flag in Cameroon.

3 Everything Is Under Control

Yet qualifications aside, Rohr seems to have everything under control, and he is strictly sticking to his program. He is set to visit Super Eagles hotel and training pitch, while effort is in top gear to pick a training camp in Europe. These are good steps in the right direction.

Did you guys noticed how those Psv supporters reacted when Dessers celebrated in front of them?

That made my day seriously. Thanks for the video boss. grin grin cheesy

That guy would have beaten up Dessers if given the chance. See PASSION.

I was quite shocked grin grin. Not only at PSV taking such a whopping, but the incandescent reaction from the Dutch fans grin. I only this kind of reaction from Turkish, Slavic or Central European crowds.

Nice write up! However, I still have a reservation. Unfortunately I am not completely sold with this Okoye guy as our goalkeeper. His conceded goals appear really soft ( Please rewatch the highlights of his conceded goals to appreciate my concern). I literally shake in fear whenever our opponents are close to our goal post in any match. Any bad day by our defense and you see exactly what I mean ( the Sierra leonian game comes to mind).

There is a saying that goes thus "if it is not broken, don't fix it." Why would Rohr replace Uzoho who was doing a very good job and improving with every match with this Okoye guy ( Please rewatch the Ukraine and Brazil friendly game to see what I mean).

In conclusion, going back to your article, no mater how good a team is, you cannot win any laurel with an inept goalkeeper guarding your goalpost.

TheSuperNerd:

7. Toluwalase Arokodare (CF) Goal - Late Equaliser (Amiens SC): Played 20mins + 5mins added time off the bench

Please dont mention the stadia because Ejuke and Henry played in same stadium the last time i checked

He might have had a bad game in our last 2 qualifiers doesn’t meant he hasn’t been good for the Eagles

You need to stop lying bro ,the ejuke you praised una go still insult am soon

Simon Moses has been good for the eagles ,he has not been most of you guys favorite that’s why

Really epic. Dessers has already walked his way into the Hearts of Feyenoord fans just for triggering the PSV fanbase. Lol

Gives them enough weaponry in their banters with PSV fans for the rest of the season. Hahaha.. all parts of the beautiful game.
