Please, you people should call doctor, because CAF and their Twitter handler have started running mad.

Imagine asking people to vote for MOTM for a game that has not even started

Go on my brother. I Used to be a staunch Christian but I abandoned it five years now and I found peace. I'm not a traditionalist but I strongly believe - like the Igbo concept of Chi-that God is within everyone of us.
Though I would have loved to ask more questions, let me pause it here so I don't derail the thread.
I'd like to know why you abandoned it. But obviously not on this thread. Do you mind?

I am still not comfortable with him. I would still be more comfortable with a more tested Uzoho.
Not you alone. Maduka doesn't inspire confidence. Yours is even better, you prefer Uzoho. Me, none of them cos I've seen them all to know they are all on the same level except that Akpeyi transmits fear in such a visceral way that even you watching him, will start shaking as he is shaking.

Unless Bertrand Traoye is Neymar which he is not, there’s nothing they can do to this Cameroonian team, all their players are built like rugby players, so damn strong and physical. Sorry for whoever jam them.

God always answers, one way or another,
even when people don't recognize his presence. "In a dream, for instance, a vision at night, when men and women are deep in sleep, fast asleep in their beds— God opens their ears and impresses them with warnings
To turn them back from something bad they're planning, from some reckless choice
— Job 33:14-18 MSG

I'm glad others have in their sincerity giving you counsel. I'd just like to add this, given that even after this case you're still going to have to "find" a wife.
Colossians 3:15 admonishes that we let the peace of God be an umpire in our heart. In times like this (times of make or marr decision) I spend my time away from "other voices" (Media, other people etc) and search my heart, waiting and testing each opinions that come from it with the scriptures. The spirit of man is the candle of God, searching the depths of him (his soul)

Truly, counsel in the heart of man is like deep well but a man of understanding will draw it out. Wise opinions (even from hallowed people) may not be wisdom that is profitable to you. Let the peace of God be your referee even more than all the dreams, opinions and counsels you have received.

Here's my 2kobo. I hope it meets you well.

Please what version is this? I really like the wording.

This is a very controversial opinion, but the more I see some takes about some of our players, the more I believe that the 90's Super Eagles team is one of the worst things to have happened to the newer generation players and fans.

For a team that could not even make it past the Round of 16 at the World Cup, were they really that great? If you want to call Cameroon in the 90's, you can say they reached Quarters, Ghana in the 2010's also reached Quarters, the 90's Eagles at best, played scintillating football with mid results.

So, why do kids who were born years after this reign or were not even old enough to enjoy this reign, have to constantly live up to a reign that, to be honest, was not even so awesome when you look at results?

Which day, someone said calling up Dessers was an 'insult' to the Super Eagles because his stats were not 'good enough', and when I inquired on how it could be an insult when we have had the likes of Sani Keita and an aged Ameobi represent us at the World Cup, oga was replying me with, "I'm talking about Super Eagles in the 90's blah blah blah..."

Even me sef, I don't know anything about the 90's Eagles, I do not have any recollection of those days and a great number of Nigerian football fans today, don't know anything beyond stories and a few clips of that team, so, why do some people constantly rubbish the efforts of these younger players? Why can't we see them as new?

How do we foist the weight of Okocha on a young Mikel and even after Mikel has retired, we now want to foist the same weight on an Iwobi?

Why will some fans not allow that generation to rest and start citing moments more people can relate to, like the 2013 AFCON?

Please, the AFCON team of '94 will be clocking 28 years, the '98 World Cup team is as old as Maduka Okoye, managing our expectations also means changing the glasses we use in our judgement of players.
Let me answer you on this. The thing is that when you live within a particular moment, you will understand what it means.

The Brazilian team of 1982 was defeated by Italy at the WC in Spain. That team is touted to be the most complete national football team ever. In fact their defeat by Italy is widely regarded as the day football died.
In the 70s and 90s the Dutch too had a great team who did not go on to win anything.

Different countries can attest to moments where their team is sprinkled with stardust all round but then the team for one reason or the other does not fly or fly as high as expected (Cote D'Ivoire of Drogba's time, England of Terry, Lampard, Scholes, Beckham, Rooney and Gerard or look at what is presently happening to Belgium)

Fact is that the 94 set of SE embodied greatness. It was palpable. As fans we were in touch with it. They had a mentality that made fans believe in them. In fact go to YouTube and read comments from their videos and you will commonly find fans from all over the world talking about how they came to reckon with Nigerian football through that team.

Did they live up to their potential? No, but it is the memory of what we all saw as a great potential that makes them the template for reference. Even many people who had watched the Green Eagles or the various assemblage of our national teams before the 94 class knew something was tick about that team.

And they won tourneys - Nations cup and Olympics but they should and could have won more.

So it is good for the present Eagles to have that weight of comparison put on them. This is the purpose or the use of history. This is what pedigree means. Osimhen must surely have Yekini's record in his sight to outdo yet I'm sure Osimhen was not born when Rashidi was our henchman.

So you see at a deep psychological level, when a model of success is set before us, it is not to crush us but to inspire us to rise up to that same stature or better still, transcend it.

My doubt about religion was something I couldn't wish away because I have serious question regarding the legitimacy of the Bible and the role of God in our everyday life.

I had kept my mind open and continued to read , learn and understand and stumbled on an article authored by Thomas Paine , an English-American radical of 18th century , called "The Age of Reason," and after reading this swell of a text I was shaken.
Read the great agnostic Robert Ingersoll
He was a big fan of Thomas Paine the author of the age of reason. Check my profile for some of their quotes.
