I have made it easy for you and I have connected as easily as you can ever get.

Possession heavy football is Guardiola's gift to modern day football. Anyone you see doing it today studied him and Drew from him.

In a nutshell, with possession heavy football gaining popularity, tiki taka is not dying.

I have clarified enough. The only thing you can do now is go through my post and tell me if there are points that are wrong.

I have given a good summary to bring you up to speed.
What's Cryuff's philosophy sir? I thought he was the one who started all this tikitaka stuff

This possession stuff is ages before Cruyff. Cruyff's boss, coached him in the national team, Ajax and Barcelona, Rinus Michels made lots of breakthrough.

If you check out Cruyff's team, they were amazing. Just amazing. Neeskens and co.

However, it is with respect to today's game and the modern football era.

Also, Hungary played some good possession based football in the 50s.

However, where Guardiola comes in is centering his game on keeping the possession stats heavily tilted to his philosophy.

He who controls the ball, controls the game.

Alright. But a simple search from my end here shows Johan Cruyff invented tikitaka.

That is why Ten Hag referred to Pep as the pioneer. Note, Ten Hag is a huge Rinus Michels fan.

What Guardiola did was to break it down into a working formula.

I wonder how. Rinus Michels was even awarded as the coach of the century. He did the magic.

Cruyff was his disciple.

Just found an interesting read on Quora. I get excited when I read people that share similar understanding to mine. I must say, he is far more elaborate but notice the similarities in ideas.

Did Pep Guardiola really invent Tiki-Taka football when he was at FC Barcelona?

Yes, he did. To make it even more perfect, he combined some previous used tactics with it.

Most wrong themselves by thinking that Tiki-Taka was invented by Cryuff… Cryuff way of playing was Total Football:

TOTAL FOOTBALL: This was invented by Cryuff and Dutch National Team, the idea behind this is that players are constantly moving and creating space and when a player moves and leaves space another player rushes their to fill the vacant space, it’s idea was not to retain ball possession! the example for this tactic is: Spurs, Real Madrid and Roma … if you look to their play, the players move to create space and slowly they'll work their way up to opponents box and there's no such final third restriction and they don't keep the ball for up to 80%…

Tiki-Taka: This was invented by Pep Guardiola, the main idea behind this to dominate the play so you dominate your opponent and starve them out of the ball to death. He uses to have up to 85% ball possession. The other thing about tiki-taka is that it's build around a Conductor, in Barcelona it was S. Busquets (Not Xavi) and in city mostly its Fernandinho. Now the secondary ideas that he used to enhance his system and idea are: Gegen Press, False No 9, False fullbacks and the recent False No 8. Out of these he uses the Gegen Press as a catalyst to his system; to quickly recover the ball as soon as lost.

So yeah, Tiki-Taka is his truly invention.

Iwobi is that guy... If Etebo was technically good like maybe Kante, then we won't have much problem..

Ndidi at DM.. Etebo playing B2B and Iwobi at AM...
But Etebo is mostly all pace, energy and little technicality...

Right now, i hope we get the best out of this peak mode of Iwobi. Etebo kon be like he no get 2nd true true. But we go dey alright as we got more technical guys around.

Olise and Eze are also options but I didn't mention them because I'm concerned about their defensive aspect and also because they're not our players.
Alhassan is also an option but I've not watched him.

Those two aren't good defensively. But an impressionable manager will make them do such. One player i want to see play in GWG this year is Alhassan. Let's see what he can offer.

Where did I state otherwise? This is exactly what I have been singing @bolded. The Options are there but we ignore them.

The Midfield options we have combining, both capped and uncapped lads, gives us a chance to ACTUALLY pick the most tactically/technically balanced midfield but reality is WE WON'T.

The biggest problem of the Super Eagles lie in midfield followed by the CB pairing. If we fix these 2 areas, then our transition game both in offensive and defensive phases will massively improve.

Fact is we would not be able to fully take advantage of the attacking firepower we have in the final third if our CB and Midfield areas remain the way they are. Those two areas are keys to the first and second buildup phases of our plays so if they stay wack, then don't expect our attack to flourish so much.

And ofcos Nwakali won't be called anytime soon because we have myopic coaches too.
And this, inspite of the fact that he is among the midfield options that has the exact attributes we need to uplift our middle game plays plus he is among our most inform midfielders in Europe today. He is top 4 easily.

Nwakali, Alhassan, Onyedika, Iwobi are the lads from whom we can easily put together a starting midfield 3 tactically sound and synced enough to give us control, workrate and smoothness in our middle game plays.

Ndidi is still needed but he has his limitations which affects our middle game plays.
Onyeka too can be a good squad player but doesn't have enough requisite attributes to improve our middle game plays. Exactly why he can't be considered a starter.

The team needs Midfielders with great understanding of space in the middle in relation to the ball and has the forward thinking passing trait and ball playing nous to truly bring our final third assasins into play. Defensively all 4 first MF options are also astute.

We have enough of defensive-thinking MFs who don't have the ball playing nous and high ball intelligence to elevate our middle game. What we need are MFs with a mix of both.

See ehn, Nwakali just needs to end the season on a high note and his agent should get him a better team... Eguavon gave him a call up cus he felt he needed him... Peseiro is behaving like Rohr by downsizing our midfield selections... It's very unlikely he would be called up.. Aside his creativity,he also offers good set piece taking abilities

Tiki Taka = Possession heavy football.

That excerpt clearly states that Kompany style is heavily possession based, almost like Manchester City.

That is Kompany style is Tiki taka based.

Nathan Tella strikes again!!!

The Inevitable scoring wing forward of the Championship. Beautiful goal it was too. How he attacks the Half spaces and the gap between CB and Fullback is just Beautiful to behold. Baller!

His goal brings Kompany's Burnley level vs West Bromwich Albion. Ajayi on the bench.

9 goals and 2 assists now in 25 League games (19 starts).

To be honest, IMO, it is not Juventus they should be worried about. AC Milan lurks and that is the main contender for Napoli this season. Inter too is another.

I expect a step-up move for Nwakali at the end of the season after his Ponferradina journey. He's been one of the best midfielders in the Spanish 2nd tier after 23 matchdays so far and I believe his showings will attract offers. He should just keep it up. Time will tell.

With that said, if I truly want to get a job done, I will go for the tools that will help me get it done perfectly. Perhaps, it is because Jpes seems too relaxed in this job. No true fiery desire to improve the team. It's just business as usual. Very sad.

I am watching Kompany's Burnley right now wrapping up a comeback win vs West Brom (game just ended) and my eyes have been as always on Tella. His improvement under Kompany is noticeable. A serious NT coach should be looking his way as another alternative for the Wing roles. Him being in the Championship should not erase the fact that the lad has got some quality.

To be honest Dan, JPes is not inspiring confidence especially in his selections. It is Lazy and business as usual. Even Rohr wasn't this relaxed in his 1st year on the job.

Are you afraid to say Kompany deploys tiki-taka? cheesy grin. What the hell does similar mean? The article says having seen Pep's methods for four years, Kompany employs a heavy possession system. No comments on whether it's tiki-taka or not. Again there are several systems that are possession-based but quite different from tiki-taka.
TheGoodJoe:

Just a simple Google search will answer your question.

The image below reveals something critical that J talked about earlier. Possession heavy which is a term I coined. You can see theanalyst using a similar term, Heavily possession based. That is a system Guardiola made famous and influenced it.

Kompany is a possession heavy football coach, which is pure Guardiola.

I wonder why wealthy and powerful people rape.

A person like Alves can easily pay just about any glamorous porn girl for hookup services and satiate his lust. He has the money.

Even without spending money. With his popularity alone, millions of beautiful ladies would throw themselves at him without a second thought.

So, why rape?
