That's why I thought it may be fatigue, Bassey, Aina all look tired

Negative football feels sweet when winning but with time you know you are not growing. The fact is that the team is not coached to play.

Many people including me never gave this team any chance of making it all the way to the finals, for that, in my estimation, this team has exceeded all expectations.

Congrats to CIV, they were obviously the better side in this game. I could go on and on about our tactics but for today, I sheathe my sword and in good conscience I believe it is reasonable to congratulate JP for a job well done.

Our approach in this second half is part of the reasons I don't rate Jose Peseiro as our coach. His attacking side is poor but I give him credit for taking some advice on and making some changes in our personnel selection.

Didn't expect him to get far with his 442 but his changes to 433 and then 343 saw me take notice of what he could be cooking. He went with what worked for him and gave a nation Joy.

I wouldn't mind him staying beyond the Afcon to continue the WCQs path but I also won't mind him leaving especially knowing that we need a proper coach who can come in, fix our midfield properly and fully utilise the powers in our attack.

We went 1-0 up and should have not let our foot off the gas in the second half. We should been doing a double over CIV today if we had taken the game to them for the first 25mins of that second half.

It is well. Well done to the lads. But I am not happy. Coming this far, taking the lead and losing it this way makes me sad.

We move.

Congrats Ivory Coast! The referee killed our momentum.

Nevertheless, Ivory Coast deserves their win.

We move!!

Ref doesn't kill momentum.

You players to build momentum..

Give Bielsa this team and you would see momentum.

Oga, the battle was lost in the midfield.

Dere was neva a midfield battle as far as I am concerned…. For larger part of d game, our middle was nonexistent till Dey scored d 2nd goal , to be sincere dis was our worst match today .we played poorly…Aina was cooked by that andriga guy…

We can attack them and play well if we want to. This is not an excuse.
Bro we don't have the midfield to attack any team.

Caf just dash CIV this trophy. The officiating most especially in the first half was something else

Na now caf dash dem
U nor see una coach dey play useless sitting ducks football for finals. . The boys tried no doubt but finals is a place to leave ur all on the pitch. This is why I am never in support of conceding possession to an opponent. We started game management from the moment we scored. I hate it with a passion. So we could actually peg ivorians into their half abi.

Give caf their flowers bro

Since that penalty miss, Aina has been so withdrawn. I just hope that didn’t affect him psychologically to the extent of making mistakes today trying to be too careful. He should free his mind and be his usual self in order to give us his best.

I like that boy so much I will love to see AFCON gold medal around his neck today.

Too bad! My boy’s morale was down

We lost deservedly
Couple of players were not in the match
Going forward, we need to ditch this pattern of play
Looks like it takes too much from the players
We need to invest in our midfield
We lost too many passes today
Aina, Iwobi, Chuks, even Lookman and Osimhen were not at their best today

I was cross with Nwabali for wasting time around 58th minute

We just were not in the game today
We must learn our lessons and create a clear plan to address our weaknesses..

Whether JPes stays or leaves, we need to get midfielders ASAP
We lack creativity, poor passes were the order of the day

All on all
Good tournament
We didn't give this team a chance but they got to the final and lost
Nothing to be ashamed about..

A stupid and sturbon coach, I know he will cost us this match.
What exactly is Iwobi doing on the pitch.
This is a 100% marking match and we have a natural defensive midfielder on the bench

Retaining the same set of players after all the pressure at 1:0 advantage was the undoing of the coach.
We can build on this achievement with a more tactical coach.
Congrats to CIV

I hate to do this at this time.. but I'm not a prophet. It just turns out that CIV picked up local coach at some point, and it was a fairy tale run from then on. They didn't play like they were under pressure. There were the more motivated, more hungry team. They deserved it.

Nigeria has the potential to be an even better team. Our strength lies in our attack. We didn't see that in this tourney.

My AFCON winner prediction:
1. The eventual winner will come from West Africa
2. The eventual winner is coached by a native of the country

An attacking mindset didn't get us this far. A defensive approach did. Why would Peseiro change his tactics all of a sudden? Why change something that got you to a final?

To some people it is going far. To me it is just fluke.

I never said Peseiro should change his tactics. I said the team is not growing in play. He can't even build a midfield.

It's gonna be a long night on Twitter, that's for sure 😂.

Ghana is going to get revenge on us.

I warned! Faith alone gives you nothing. Nothing!

Faith without work is dead. Our midfield was dead.

It's the same way we keep hoping Nigeria would get better when the system continues to reward Iwobi-esque public office holders and excuses away their many shortcomings.

The strength of an attack lies in a well coordinated and oil midfield. If we can't get a sound midfield set up, we can't flourish in attack.
