Exactly what they want to do..

Small time now it will backfire.. West Africa has always been the backbone of Africa football outside the continent..

I saw where it was said that this U17 Zoning was to give opportunity to young players from East and Southern African sub-region the opportunity to get the necessary exposure.

I will see where this will take them to

At bolded. A good one, worthy of emulation by other clubs. And the boys really look U17 and U15 respectively.

That guy with captain arm band in the U15 pix is really a promising talent (forgotten his name now). He looks bigger now. cheesy

Modified: The last pix seems like the Lagos state team, with the Lagos state emblem on their chests.

The last picture is the Lagos U15 team
This is the Remo U17 team (from their twitter handle)

I don't think Ola Aina is injured though Torino have two wingback on injury so they have to do something to keep Aina fresh for next week i doubt ekong injury also seeing the way he walked into udinesse line up

Hmm... impressive but I would recon that 40-60 percentage of those lads in that pix will easily fail the MRI.
Good step in the right direction all the same.

I agree with you for the U17 team but like you said it's a good step in the right direction.

If my memory serves me right the owner of remo stars is KUNLE SONAME. 9jabet supermo. And a club owner in porturga

DrLikita12:
Remo Stars (NNL) player, Sodiq, transfers to Danish side Fremad Amager (first and second pictures). They seem to have a good set up.
Their U17s will be participating in the third division (NLO) and their U15s recently lost a game to Lagos U15s (third and fourth pictures; U17 team not pictured).
If most teams are able to emulate this and verify the ages of their age grade players it will provide a continuous supply of genuine, quality talent regardless of whether we are able to win age grade competitions or not. At least on the senior level we will see a lot of improvement.
I'm sure a few people can recognize the young man on the far left in the red jersey.
All the pictures are from Remo Stars twitter handle.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think Ola Aina is injured, maybe he is still pained about the world cup miss who knows.

I think Troost pulled out because of his family.

According to Torino, Ola Aina has a small muscle trouble that they do not want him to aggravate. That is very understandable.

Ekong has been a very loyal player so i have no reason to doubt his injury.

Torino put out a statement on Aina's injury. It is precautionary especially as they have players in his position out. I understand their position. It has nothing to do with the world cup.

Good initiative. All league teams should have standard under 15 and under 17 sides.

Some of the boys in this picture do not look the age though.

It is good strong step forward...european format... I would like NFF to take it up from there....compulsory for all clubs...then establish zonal MRI centres for clubs u15 and u17 to go through before registration...then have their subsequent leagues....it will be BOOOOOOM......talent everywhere...very soon we become better than Brazil football factories.

If that our keeper was really bad, the Bournemouth keeper should be given a chance against CIV. I see no reason why we can’t qualify from this group and become the eventual champs. If we don’t qualify, I would t blame it in the zoning. I will blame it on our failing to screen our players thoroughly. We know our problem. We should take these things seriously

Well I would still put bigger blame on the zoning. cos if we get the right players and still don't qualify, it's still the new process that caused it.

Anyways, I believe they should scale thru.

Say what?

West Africa has 7! Nigeria 5 and Ghana 2.

West Africa has won the last 7 CAF U17 editions:

Gambia 2005
Nigeria 2007
Gambia 2009
Burkina Faso 2011
CIV 2013
Mali 2015
Mali 2017.

Only South Africa, from outside the WA subregion have ever played as losing finalists.

At the World stage in the last 5 editions:

Nigeria 1st 2007
Nigeria 2nd 2009
Nigeria 1st 2013
Nigeria 1st, Mali 2nd 2015
Mali 4th 2017
Plus other West African teams making Q/Finals on several occasions.

I still do not understand why WAFU accepted this devilish arrangement.

A mistake. corrected!! Gracias!

uh. see you. Na dis kine deals person dey sign to be relevant now. At least it gave us a stronghold in CAF politics. Something we need no doubt as the most successful footballing country from African at allllll levels since Amos Adamu was felled. Politically minded, I would take such a deal, esp if it's the only option on the table. But realistically, it looks stupid. But sacrifices gats be paid.

I have been preaching this gospel for long. The U20 is the main thing and not U17.

We have achieved what no other country in the world has achieved at U17. 5 Gold, 3 Silver. Nothing even the Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Germany, France of this world has that record.

But what have we achieved at the age grade directly after that? 2 Silver.

There is definitely a disconnect. And if we fail to address it squarely we will continue to fail.

And yes, you are very right at stating that the U20 is the main key to producing players for the national teams.

The difference between Nigeria and the teams you are mentioning above is that they have well developed structure outside the U17. They have outstanding leagues which adopts and help groom/promote these players.

The U17 is the fairest, balanced system we have to identify and nurture stars. However, developing a host of quality players will take factors like improving our home League, developing academies and encouraging our home League teams to recruit these youngsters. Then we can nurture a top U20 team. Until then, we continue using what we have.

Hum..China 85 covered our eyes...Osondu blinded us..... Iheanacho and co took us to the the unreal world...look at the academies...all claiming u17....all because of our success at that level...there is no u19 team anywhere....no u23 team anywhere.....there is even u23 league in England...or Development Leaugue...at least but here it is just academies...they go through a long process before coming to the national team...Ndidi,Iheanancho,Success,etc playing the national team. But look at their other TALENTED MATES Musa Yahaya for one....still learning the ropes so to say...may be i feel this way because we have won u17 so much that it does not thrill any more winning it..perhaps but the truth is...we must shift focus to u21 in other to make more impact at senior level...Noe Enogela is going to Olympic Donesk since 2015...it takes long to mature..
