By the way, let's talk about Iwobi for a bit. Sentiments aside, that guy doesn't fill me with confidence at all.

His shooting is pathetic, ditto his long passing abilities, his goal sense below par, aerial ability is zero, ball control average at best....the only thing he has going for him is his one-two passes and once in a blue moon accurate defence splitting pass.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big Iwobi fan and I wish him the very best but if I were in Rohr's shoes right now, I'd play Etebo as 10 ahead of Iwobi.

Your thoughts?
Other than energy what else does Etebo give us?

For a team that was just protesting wages, Zimbabwe fared pretty well. Didn’t let emotions affect gameplay. Just gotta work on finishing

.....or maybe Egypt just isn’t that good.

The Zimbabwean goalkeeper - Sibanda - is one to watch out for in this tourney.

Great shot stopper!

It might be for his own personal gain...He needs to score enough and win the AFCON to boost his chance of winning the Balon d'or..

Wait till u see Mane.. He will play selfishly too grin

if Egypt weren't the host, they won't make my top 5 favorite team to win the tournament

Their petty selfishness cost us the league. If you can assist your team mates to score goals, that also counts for something

Etebo will be worse as a ten. I will rather play Mikel there.

Etebo will make Iwobi look like Pirlo at that position

After all the media report and gists from camp... I'm expecting the following change in the lineup tomorrow.

1) Akpeyi will start in goal

2) Shehu won't start.. its now obvious he has fallen down the pecking order..Aina will play RB or RWB..

3) Midfield combo will be Ndidi- Mikel- Iwobi....

4) If Rohr should rest Kalu, Chukwueze will most likely start.. But if its 3-5-2, it's Ighalo and Musa up front...

But then its not sure yet . Aside Kalu, we don't know yet if the players that fell sick in camp have fully recovered.

God help us o .

I heard Kalu was rushed to the hospital after a heart attack

Iwobi is definitely not starting. This nations cup will expose Iwobi

But he is better than most at that 8/10 position. We just have to make do for now

It might be his style of play etc....that turns the viewer off. Not everything is petty hatred

iwobi and mikel should be allowed in the midfield to make room for creativity.

You can imagine

We need creativity if we ever hope to score at least one goal against Burundi. That's the fact. Those people will tighten their defence like the blood-brain barrier and throw the key away into the Pacific. E no go easy at all

The two strongest teams in this edition of the AFCON (Doesn't equate to winning the tournament though) :

Egypt and Nigeria.

Hahaha. Our performance in the first two games should determine the prognosis for the Super Eagles. If not, everything is mere conjecture at this stage

Iwobi will gas out in this kind of weather. Etebo has a bigger engine. With a little finness in his game just like in Rio, he will lock down that position.

AFCON Low scoring continues. It will be very outstanding if we get two goals tomorrow...

With the Papi Rohr is saying his team is not 100 per cent fit. Lemme just enjoy this AFCON with open mind.

And let us expect an upset.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by soetanoreoluwa(m): 11:41pm On Jun 21, 2019
The heat won't be friendly at all. The likes Mikel, Musa, Etebo, ighalo will definitely cope with the heat, likes of Iwobi, Aina, colins , ekong , Balogun might definitely be affected by it...

Just hope they focus and they don't lose concentration... Breaking the defence line of Burundi national team is very paramount tomorrow.

The strength of a team is it's capacity to achieve the two primary tactical objectives in a game i.e to score goals against the opponent and to prevent the opponent from scoring.
