The bookies never gave us a chance... They predicted a very tough encounter.
Infact the odds we were given goes a long way to show how much we have regressed as a team. Though we are just coming up now... Remember we missed the last edition...
Football isn't played on paper, the best team won today and that was us.. Your team qualified for the round of 16 with a game to spare and you are not happy..?
The first team to do so??

Zimbabwe had what I will tag the miss of the Afcon so far.

Uganda had something similar but at least a Zim player was in the way unlike in Zimbabwe's case.

It's not a big deal if he doesn't.

Bakayoko didn't warm-up on the pitch throughout the tournament, yet he won the World Cup.

Stop making it look like its one helluva big deal. 23 players go for tourneys, not all of them get to play.

Let's leave Rohr to do his job. We don't know his players better than he does. He has his reasons for not playing them yet, if at all he will.

Ha! Oga o

Please tell me which bakayoko won the World Cup ?

There have been no bakayoko in the last 4 FIFA World Cup ,so which World Cup are you talking about ?

Please educate me

Nothing went past him. Awaziem was very solid on the right and also did decently going forward. He has good vision too. Really loves hus ability to pass out from the back and also locate his AM or striker.

Moses Simon also helped out Awaziem today and there is no way Chukwueze would have offered us the crazy workrate Simon offered today up and down that right flank. Dude attacked at decent intervals, battled hard, tucked into the midfield at times on the sides and defended resolutely. That right flank was no go area for Guinea and reduced Kamano's influence all game although the bad ass kamano still made one or two mazy runs but nothing that troubled akpeyi as our defence led him to a less dangerous outlet.

Moses Simon is the only winger that allows the fullback to play ball.

with Nigeria now through, there’s every chance Gernot Rohr will rest his
star players with the knockout rounds in mind.. So we need those who will come in to be on top of their game...

Kenneth Omeruo is registered as a Chelsea player but has had seven loan spells away from the club, including two with Middlesbrough

Nigeria dropped captain John Mikel Obi, who played for Middlesbrough in 2018-19, but their side did include Brighton defender Leon Balogun, Stoke midfielder Peter Etebo, Leicester midfielder Wilfried Ndidi and Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi.

Na true o.

BBC will always relate to England. Ken that hasn't worn a Chelsea shirt before, they are reminding us he is a London player.

Watching Awaziem today I saw why the young man got all the high praise he did last season in Turkey. Was very calm in defence and to think he was even playing out of position. Nice one.

Analysis

BBC World Service's John Bennett

They say it is a sign of a good team if you win without playing at your best. That is twice now that Nigeria have got the job done despite not hitting the heights.

There is plenty more to come from the Super Eagles and some real quality on the bench.

Guinea huffed and puffed but it's tough for them at this tournament with their star man Naby Keita half-fit. He was running on empty today at times but showed glimpses of what he can do towards the end of the first half.

Now the next challenge for Nigeria is finally sorting the bonus row. The players are expecting to receive the money on Friday. Then it would be all resolved and they can fully focus on the football.

With that kind of miss from Ighalo the man will continue to get the sticks from the fans.. He had all the time, all the space and even an option to the right in the person of Musa. Yet he plays it out, off target, c'mon!

Not like that. I am talking in the final third. Simon gets his fullbacks involved more than any one of our forwards.

Awaziem did just fine. Aina did okay. The 2 center backs were on top of the game. Ndidi : wow! Musa hustled.
