Over a Hundred caps? Over just a hundred? Let me break it down for you a bit more Sir Dan..

Afcon 2019 would have been Mikel's 8th Afcon tournament had we qualified for the 2012, 2015, and 2017 editions. This is only Mikel's fifth after playing in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013 and now in this beautiful ongoing tournament.

Each Afcon Nigeria almost always reaches the semis.... That's a minimum of six games to be played (third place or final included).

To be honest... Mikel would have been rivalling some Nigerian Greats in terms of Afcon appearances and Afcon tournaments appeared in. We could have been talking over 120 caps for Mikel pooling everything together(Afcon misses, WC misses, Friendly he dodged etc) but shaa.... Circumstances na wa.

Such is life sometimes. sad

If Nigeria comes second in the group, and Egypt and Senegal top their groups, we'll be in the path to meet them much sooner. I believe we can at least tie with Madagascar. Optimistic of a win!

Danielnino00:
So Nigeria and Madagascar will be fighting for the top spot on Sunday

We have got a big fight on our hand folks.

I doubt if Rohr will rest many players now. finishing top of d group means we meet a weaker opponent in R16.

22 yr old players are considered in euro u21 competitions. onomah didnt have a great time on loan last season so that was the reason why he was dropped

That's true indeed there are players who are 23 they peculiar rules of UEFA allow for some older players to come in

Nonetheless, they have to give way for younger and sometimes possibly better players as the means to progression of the team.

However, Tega had some injuries and did not really have a great season unlike Iorfa who was exceptional for Sheffield Wednesday.

Afcon Focus- Away from the Super Eagles

OPPONENTS WATCH-IN OTHER GROUPS

Senegal vs Algeria is up next. We know the big names on both sides. The likes of Mane, Mahrez, Koulibaly, Mandi, Keita Balde, Feghouli, Kouyate, Brahimi (benched) and more....

Both sides also boast exciting young talents in Ismaila Sarr, Wague and Krepin Diatta for Senegal AND Adam Ounas and Ismael Bennacer for Algeria.

BUT... watch out for the Algerian Right back,
Yousef Attal. That young lad is a "demon!!!"

A RB that defends well and attacks very very well. He dribbles even better than some wingers and is a genuine threat. This is a lad that banged in 6 goals in Ligue 1 as a RB oooo .. he also drew the foul that got Algeria their first goal at this Afcon. Lad is a threat going forward and would really love to see how he holds his own against a really talented Senegalese side.

Senegal vs Algeria... Hopes the game lives up to the hype.

My simple prediction is Madagascar 0-2 Nigeria. We won't draw that game even though a draw will see us stay top. Even with our bench, we will win. Sunday is not far.

I believe it will be the game we win with more than a 1-0 scoreline. But Madagascar is a good team shaa.

Southampton move for Spezia striker David Okereke.

The Daily Mail says Southampton are set to make an approach for €15m striker Okereke.

The Saints will pull the trigger on a move for the Spezia striker.

The 21-year-old Nigerian bagged 10 Serie B goals and has also been linked with West Ham and Crystal Palace among other European clubs.

Linford Christie won gold at 32 in the Olympics and competed at 38 in the 1994 Olympics.

Carl Lewis competed at 35.

So your proposition is without any substance.

How many footballers are in that shape at 35??

Football is not a 100 meters sprint..

Tega is too old he hit 22 in April so he is ready and willing to play for the SE.

In my opinion he is better than Eze although he needs an uninterrupted full season of competitive first team football. Either in the EPL or the Championship.

Onomah is still eligible but competition is crazy. The likes of Foden, Maddison, etc are all ahead of him at the moment.
Now would be the perfect time to get him.

I have asked this question before. Can't Etebo play on the left midfield? Sometimes, you do not need to make personnel changes to make tactical switches. During the game, move Etebo to the left wing, move Mikel to a deep lying role and move Iwobi to 10.
Said the same thing as well. The lineup that started would've scored before Ighalo and Musa came on. Player roles was where Rohr got it wrong.

I am all in for our next encounter with Madagascar. A gut-wrenching and competitive encounter will bring out the best in our guys. Madagascar will give it their all and will fire on all cylinders.

This is arguably our most important match of the group stage and indeed a good test for the knockout stages.

Too many fouls in the SEN ALG match. Senegal interplay is not top notch or maybe it's just this match. Belaili has been a handful for the young RB Wague, the lad can hardly keep up grin..

The North Africans not surprisingly, playing some nasty football: elbows, kicks and all..

Southgate! I am emphasizing it. These guys are Average!
Westham, Monaco, Galatasaray, Everton even Napoli are Average teams with Average players.
