Story for the gods

I still wonder what confidence Yobo is giving you guys

I like his character and personality. He is tailored for this job. He is completely happy not being the center of attention. He is still a younger old guy who can relate to our young boys and also be a big brother. I am very big on this hire.

but you said he will improve them na. so this excellent defensive ability would have shown up during his playing days. plus as tbaba rightly said being a good defender doesn't mean you will be an excellent coach.

for example steve bould was appointed to assist wenger to 'imrove' arsenal's defence. well we all know how that turned out

which excellent defensive ability is he talking about? Having longetivity in the national team doesnt mean he is the finest ever to come out of 9ja. Yobo is not even in my top 3 of our best ever CBs. He was committed and loyal but not that he was the best.

Yobo is nowhere near the likes of okechukwu, nwanu, west, keshi and chukwu in terms of talent and expertise in the cb position

Oga his new job has nothing to do with personality and character but what he has to bring to the team tactically. Stop this ur painting of words and reasoning just to justify ur ignorance.

er bros it's ok to think Joseph Yobo will do well with the SE but please don't overhype his appointment.

sorry but which players look up to Yobo? Yes they might respect him as an ex-super eagles players but it's not like he's some living legend that the boys would adore. Mikel like you mentioned already would fit the role.

Yobo improve our defenders Really!? Really!!!? same Yobo that controlled our defence in 2010 world cup that conceded against almighty Greece and South Korea? same Yobo Keshi had to bench most of the time before we won 2013 AFCON?

Oga i respect Yobo for his longevity and sacrifice for the national team but please don't call a dog a cat just to sell him to us

please you don't have to bring his playing abilities into disrepute, peak Yobo is better than all the CB we parade now

He can definitely serve as a motivator but so can other ex internationals. Kanu pops into the camp regularly to motivate the players.

Yobo does not have to be an assistant to act as a big brother and motivator to the boys. He can speak to most of them personally and even visit the camp.

But he was assistant to Ancelotti in 2013 when they won the champions league na
He already had a UEFA B license in order to be assistant.
Not only that, he had already served as sporting director and advisor to both Perez and Mourinho.

The reaction to Yobo’s appointment from the public and media go dey pain NFF. They really thought everybody will be happy about it.

My only issue with the appointment is that from what I have read and researched, Yobo has no coaching license. Most ex players have licenses wether it is C, B or A License. The likes of Zidane, Arteta, Henry, Terry etc all had B or A license before they even became assistants or Gerrard before he became U18 coach with Liverpool so a comparison with them and Yobo can’t be made. Lampard had A Licence before he got the job at Derby County

In my opinion, I dont believe that Yobo was thinking about becoming a coach anytime soon otherwise he would have studied for or be studying for a license. So why NFF decided to talk to him about super eagles coaching role is really baffling to me. All in all, good luck to him.

in this context, Yobo is not a lawyer

An assistant coach, at best, would be more of a paralegal or even an intern. Nobody is looking to him, to make critical decisions. He is just carrying bags, standing by, taking notes

He has enough experience on the pitch to do that.

BTW, isn't this part of the recruitment NFF outsourced?

Don’t mind NFF, they didn’t outsource shit to anybody, they just said that to deceive us. Since December they said they outsourced junior team recruitments to pwc, we are now in mid february no shortlist or announcements made except this suspicious Yobo one

” I don’t know why Imama has been removed. I worked very well with him. He did a very good job with me. I regret his departure. But since the NFF have the right to take this decision, there is nothing that I can do about it.

” I have the responsibility to develop coaches from Nigeria as agreed with the NFF. I am more than happy to do that. Yobo is welcome to the team of course. I have heard that he has no coaching diplomas, so I will talk to him about this if what I have heard is correct, I will tell Yobo that he needs to do the training required to grow as a coach”,

-Rohr

Source: Owngoalnigeria

Rohr confirms what i said earlier about Yobo, He has no coaching certificate.

He is using the super eagles for apprenticeship.

See as Rohr use style to finish NFF. Without doubt, this guy’s contract is not getting renewed. Infact they can sack him after the next set of international matches

Lool at Ekong and Omeruo. For one, Peak Yobo was MUCH better at reading the game than those two.
Two, he was also better on the ball than both. He matches them on physicality as well.

What’s your point with this ?

How does this justify Yobo to be our assistant coach ?

You are now asking if anyone in our team has done that

Now please when last do we even have a cb playing in the epl that you want any of our cb to play all the 38 epl games ??

Sir you are no making any sense

You are just trying to justify mediocrity by all means
