I think Guardiola gave Lyon too much respect in his setup. We need more creativity and risk to break their setup.

Yea his workrate is what he uses to fraud all over Man city, we don't need a defensive striker we need a striker that can actually finish

A defensive striker is a big part of the game because we commit a lot of players while attacking.

Haha you know we have to actually score to win a game, don't tell me the fraud has gotten to you

Without Aguero I'm not confident going into any game

Manchester city taking over tactically. Expect a tilt in the second half.

So far Rudi Garcia's Lyon is matching us tactically. I hope Guardiola finds a way to tilt the balance in our favour. From what I see, Lyon is even ahead in play.

I thot yall said french league is farmer's league.

Without Aguero, we have been superb. Scoring and winning with ease. Gabriel Jesus has put in some massive shifts for us. We have to score but need to keep control of the game. It has a lot to do with the system.

Have I ever said so? I have never used farmer's league on this thread. I am one who tries to encourage respect of all teams.

Onyekuru was not really Impressive in the first half same as the other 9 outfield players but he was the only one taken off at half time

Monaco weren't impressive, Onyekuru also wasn't. But his replacement Nacer Chadli was awful.

Onyekuru did assist Golovin's goal but he made the pass 30m from goal and Golovin did all the work. Was a very scrappy game of few chances and by the looks of it, Monaco would struggle this season.

You cannot start off a game of this nature coming all out at your opponent. This is not Norwich or Bournemouth they are playing.

This is a one leg game and it is vital you don't concede early.

Not playing down the role of attacking and creativity in a game of this nature but it is a game you really need to get your around tactics right from defense to midfield and attack.

Now that they are a goal down, they have to try to push further, taking a little more risk while also ensuring they don't let in another.

Even at 1:0 I still feel the chance of either team winning is 50:50.

Guardiola should kill the fear and go all out. The respect is too much and suffocating the team.

More updates: Onyekuru was the one that asked Monaco to reject Gala's offer.

Onyekuru: "I am very happy to be back in Monaco. I hope we will continue to work well and get the best point. I'm in a great team. I have no intention of living."

What a turnaround.

Why is Pep still playing a 3-5-2?

Pep has a single style of play, he does not know how to adjust tatics, that's why he cannot go to teams without the players he needed for his system. The only exception was Madrid away, where he went for counter-attack and won.

While also being careful not to commit too much to avoid a second goal.

At 1:0 they are still in the game while also trying to maximize their opportunities created. But if they commit too much and go 2:0 down it is game over.

It was a very boring game, I stopped watching when they took him off

They were having a hard time getting out of their half way line cause AZ were sitting back and after the goal they weren't interested in scoring anymore

I did notice that their defenders made an habit of passing the ball out of trouble instead of clearing and they were successful most of the time

Gelson Martins was a stand out player in the first half

This setup was the worst i have seen of Guardiola. I think Rodri should give way for Bernardo Silva.

Would have said Golovin who was involved in both goals.

This was Onyekuru's assist, the pass took out two players but Golovin still had lot of work to do.
