oduastates:I agree with on the rail issue. Lagos needs alternative form of transportation. That traffic jam pple go through daily is insane. |

oduastates: Guy you are wrong on this, trust me, The 4th mainland bridge is not connecting to the Island, Ikoyi or VI but between IKORODU and IBEJU/AJAH.... Which is meant to spur on the development of Eastern Lagos state. presently, most of the Lagos metropolis is concentrated on the Western flank of the state, this new bridge will help make development circular and accessible to most. See for yourself how the bridge will help round up the city's road network system. The city will thus have Western and Eastern neighborhoods from Ojodu to Ikorodu (North) down the lagoon to Ibeju-Lekki (East) to Eti Osa LGA to VI/IKOYI/Island (South) to Mainland, Ojo and on to Lagos West. (West) 12 Likes 1 Share |

If this issue is debated Time and time again, 4th mainland bridge is an urgent project which needs to swerve traffic from Island to Ketu/Ikeja/mainland axis. People saying that is a waste project don't know what we lagosian go through at 3rd mainland bridge; morning and evening. We need to remind ourselves that the rail project is ongoing from CMS to OJO LGA which will reduce traffic in this axis. Also more plans are being laid to construct more overheads and expand existing roads on the mainland. With all these transportation network, traffic will drastically reduce in lagos. 6 Likes 1 Share |

oduastates: I think i understand what you are driving at, You mean instead of creating a bridge (an expensive one) that would link different largely populated area to a small/tiny island (which a very populated business district) that would soon become extinct, the government should build and encourage business districts in places like surulere, ketu and the rest you mentioned so that people would not need to go this island (which will thereby reduce inflow traffic) and the government should invest the rest of the money in reasonable transport system such as a good subway system. ? 1 Like |

naptu2:If that's the case, it's indeed a nice concept. From the shops, the state can generate more income. But, how do people get to their shops? I'm thinking there may be some stairs on the vehicles portion of the bridge to take them to the pedestrian path, correct? Cos I don't think anyone would want to walk from one end of the bridge to the other to do some shopping . |

Anything to ease the traffic congestion in lagos state is fine and welcome by all lagosians.but my fear is the cost and souce of fund for this project, also the duration to complete it, so it won't be that we are just starting projects without completion in lagos. Esp with the light train and the badagry 8lanes road yet to be completed for how many years now and still gulping so much fund. Itesiwaju eko lo je wa logun |

deolu2000:The bridge will cost no less than $1.4bn. Already, LASG have been saying that it will be built on a PPP model in order to alleviate the huge financial burden on the state if it solely funded the project. |

oduastates: There's no guarantee that Lekki axis will be submerged in 100 years, and even a 60 year lifespan of the bridge is acceptable. Going by your logic, you may well condemn the building of refineries since the world may likely run out of oil in 50 years 11 Likes 1 Share |

oduastates: I agree with your submission. More business districts and infrastructural development on the mainland will make more sense. With the 4th Mainland bridge, there's bound to be backlash in the 'not so later future' due to complete attention to the already dearth infrastructure on Island, coupled with limited space and environmental peril. |

oduastates: Koolking: Everything that you guys are talking about is already in the masterplan (I'm surprised that you guys don't know this). With respect to more business districts, Lagos State is working with the private sector to develop: 1) Badagry Energy City and port: This will be in the western part of the state. It will include the Oanda Refinery, Badagry Deep Sea Port and will be served by the expanded Badagry Expressway and the Blue Line rail system. Lekki Free Trade Zone: This is a development that has been proposed since the 1980s and is only being developed now. It is in Ibeju Lekki (note: Ibeju Lekki is different from Lekki) to the east of the state. The development will include the Dangote Refinery, Lekki Airport, Lekki Deep Sea Port, etc. The free trade zone will be served by the Green Line railway system and the Fourth Mainland Bridge. Eko Atlantic City: This will be on reclaimed land to the south of the city. It will also have its own tram system. There are also developments in Ikorodu, to the north of the city. Note also that LAMATA has proposed 7 rail lines for Lagos. One of them, the Blue Line, is already being built. It will run from Okokomaiko to Marina. Construction of the Blue Line was delayed because the Federal Government delayed issuing the necessary guarantee for the funding of the project. The Red Line will run from Ogun State, through Murtala Muhammed Airport, Yaba, Iddo to Marina. One of the agreements reached when President Buhari went to China was a loan agreement between a chinese bank and a chinese company that will build, operate and hand over the Red Line project. 6 Likes 2 Shares |
