Following the 25th February General Elections and subsequent announcement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner, the Labour Party (LP)/Peter Obi, Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s Atiku Abubakar have challenged both the conduct and outcome of the election.

The Petitioners collectively and individually through their Counsels have formulated their cases to rest on seven planks against Tinubu:

1. His alleged $460,000 'criminal' forfeiture in the US

2. Failure to get 25% votes in the FCT

3. an alleged Guinean citizenship which was not earlier declared in his Form CF001.

4. VP's Kashim Shettima's alleged double nomination

5. Placeholder status of Ibrahim Masari and alleged unlawful nomination of Shettima in two Constituencies.

6. His educational qualifications as it relates to his certificates/gender, etc.

7. INEC's inability to transmit election results real-time/suppression of votes/non-tally of results with BVAS accreditation.

Baring unforseen circumstances, the long-awaited verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPT) is expected to be delivered today, 6th September 2023.

The verdict rests on the shoulders of the Justice Haruna Tsammani-led panel and the country awaits on one of the most keenly contested, and fiercely disputed elections since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999.

Peter Obi & LP v. INEC & 3 Ors
Mr Peter Obi is disputing the results announced by INEC in 21 States including Rivers, Taraba, Benue, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna, Ekiti, Oyo, Ondo, Taraba, Osun, Kano, Katsina, Kwara, Gombe, Yobe, Niger.

Others are Lagos, Imo & Plateau States; three States which he won, but this time he is challenging the results returned for Bola Tinubu.

Mr Obi said โ€œthe votes recorded for the 2nd respondent (Mr Tinubu) did not comply with the legitimate process for computation of the result and disfavoured the petitionersโ€.

He said in the petition, which he filed alongside his party, that the poll was marred by various forms of corrupt practices, over-voting, votes suppression and non-compliance with the provision of the Electoral Act in various states.

According to Mr Obi and his party, โ€œwhen the scores unlawfully added to Tinubu are deducted, he (Obi) will have the highest number of votes in the election.

Mr Obi came third in the election with 6,101,533 votes, winning in 11 states and the FCT, Abuja.

APM v. INEC & 4 Ors
The Party's petition is largely hinged on the 'placeholder' status of Ibrahim Masari of the APC.

The party is seeking the disqualification of Tinubu on the grounds of unlawful nomination of the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

APM is praying the court to nullify the election of Tinubu on the ground that his running mate, Shettima unlawfully allowed himself to be nominated twice for the two different constituencies.

Atiku, PDP v. INEC & 2 Ors
Alh. Atiku Abubakar is contending that when properly collated, he won 21 States and should be declared winner.

The states are: Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Ekiti, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Osun, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, and Zamfara.

Amongst others, he claimed that INEC manipulated the technologies earlier put in place to ensure transparency, and wrongfully returned Tinubu as winner at about 4.00am on March 1, 2023, at a time the Commission admitted that substantial percentage of the results had not be transmitted to the collation system for verification as required by law.

"Under the cover of technical glitch, INEC deflated the votes of the Petitioner and inflated the votes of Tinubu," Atiku said.

The INEC declared Abubakar winner in Osun, Gombe, Yobe, Adamawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Bauchi, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Taraba and Bayelsa States, finishing second with 6,984,520 votes, winning in 12 States.

โ€œA government having forced itself into power in a similar way the putschist did in the Niger Republic, cannot be arrogating itself the honour to lead a puritan force against a sovereign nation.

The process leading to any electoral activity is a lot more important than its outcome. The processes that led to the 2023 general election were skewed, manipulated, and rigged.

A government that came into office through such illegal means does not have the moral justification to begin to query a similar process perpetrated outside the shores of this country. If the election is wantonly manipulated, a govt that emerged from such a process is similar to a military coup.

A coup is actually where people extend their limit beyond what is being provided by the constitution. When you rig yourself into election, it is also a coup..."

Why do few recognise and talk about the irreparable damage that Tinubuโ€™s emergence as Nigeriaโ€™s president and the impunity with which he formed a government void of integrity have done to the soul and moral bearings of this country? Tinubu is the most controversial president in Nigeriaโ€™s history, and his government is the most integrity-deficient. Why are those normal?

Take the man himself. For the first time in its history, Nigeria has a president whose name, age, early education, tertiary education, and ancestral roots are subjects of raging controversies; a president once entangled in a drug-trafficking case in America, who forfeited $460,000 to the US authority; a president whose source of stupendous wealth and the credibility of that source set tongues wagging.

Tinubu said he attended primary and secondary schools, but later said he didnโ€™t. He blamed โ€œneedless errorsโ€ for discrepancies in his INEC form in 1999, and now blames an unnamed clerk of Chicago State University for โ€œseveral errorsโ€ in his recently-issued certificate!

The president of Nigeria should never be associated with such a miasma of dubiety. Hereโ€™s another โ€œhard questionโ€. Whatโ€™s the message to aspiring future leaders of Nigeria?

That they can make the wrong choices in life, live a less-than-honest life, and still become president provided they have deep pockets and can manipulate the system?

No one who truly loves Nigeria can ignore the damaging precedent that Tinubuโ€™s emergence as president set for the moral bearings of this country.

I hope nigerians are aware that many of the pro-tinubu accounts here are paid agents and not casual users like you and I?

These people are a coordinated propaganda group paid to try and shape and manipulate public opinions.
Look at the "likes" on their posts, you see how it majorly corresponds with the likes on the "pro obi" posts. If on any topic, a pro obi commenter makes a post and it gets 20 likes, you see that the pro-apc posts will get that very same range. 15-25 likes.
Please more people should speak up about this seeing as Seun is not tackling this adequately.

Don't let yourself be manipulated.

The only people that will be disappointed today are people who still believes in Nigerian judiciary. As for me, I already know right from day one that nothing good will come of this pept. People should go about their normal business and forget whatever judgement that comes out of the tribunal today.
