phillips19: Hello, Background story: i have a sister in US and she works in the same city as the school i want to attend. Honestly it was not planned. She just recently finished school and got her first job there. My first application: i lied that i had no relatives. Should i say the truth in my second DS160 or stick with my lie? Also i was denied on Tuesday. Will going for another interview after 2 weeks be a red flag?
Please this is my transcript i have planned for my second interview. What do you think? And what other question should i prepare for?
VO: Why are you going to US or tell me about your program Me: i want to purse a Masters degree in Information Communication Technology at University of Kentucky.
VO: why University of Kentucky? Me: University of Kentucky has a good ranking for the ICT program. Their curriculum includes different library science courses which for me as a library scientist is a big plus because I would get to gain ICT and advanced Library science knowledge. Also they were sent my an email encouraging me to complete my application which me feel welcome
VO: what would you do after your program or your future plans Me: i would come back to take up an employment at the University of Ibadan Library and Information Science department. I have always wanted to lecture and in the long run i plan to be a consultant to provide longlasting solution to the problems in business, communities and government technological loopholes in Nigeria. Also, to take over my parents business as i am the only son.
VO: who is your sponsor Me; My parents
VO: what do they do? Me: they are into business. They own various hotels in various cities on Nigeria and own a construction company.
VO: what course will you be taking? Me: ICT in society, information architecture, knowledge management, cybercrime and digital law enforcement.
VO: why were you denied your first time Me: i think because i did not give enough ties back home
You might have just damaged your applications irretrievably, it is always emphasized on this thread DO NOT LIE many peeps had families working in the same city/state they are going and still get approved ,you failing to mention a sister in the city you wish to school is a dangerous oversight, i'll tell you what is more dangerous - adding your sister to your application at this point, ride it out without her 1 Like |

Pelaiye2703: Hello beautiful people, I'm not going to bother you much, I'm just going to hit the nail on the head with my questions. I've read much about this particular thread, but am yet to clarified based on my personal findings. I just want to know can i process the whole application on my own without getting an agent involved? I'm not selfish, i just think the only area their more useful to us is the sponsorship aspect cos they always know how to provide a profitable sponsor. Please can someone buttress my point cos you are gonna help a brother for real...thank you and God bless.. How on earth do agents know how to provide a profitable sponsor? |

What more can I say? It has pleased the Good Lord to favour me today.
Lemme spare you all the stories from start till date. God has been faithful. I told God this year, I wasn't going to labour in vain or to sow where I wont reap.... I sowed all the seeds I had from the beginning, It looked like I was foolish. I made my plans and only involved the people concerned with the process.
Back to today, June 10, 2016. 6:30 Appointment. Window 3 I had all the necessary docs I had all my fears too
The interview VO: Good morning and how are you? ME: Good morning, I'm fine thank you.
VO: What's you study plan? ME: I'm going to pursue a Post-Graduate studies in Geological Engineering with a concentration in Geotechniques at the University of North Dakota.
VO: Who is paying for your trip? ME: My Uncle
VO: What does he do? ME: he is the MD of ####### and they are into ######
VO: You have your Bachelors? ME: Yes.
VO: In what area? ME: Geological Sciences.
VO: What's your plan after you graduate? ME: I plan to come back to the company where I work now, in their Geotechniques department.
VO: typing ..... ME: praying..... FATHER FAVOUR ME TODAY
VO: I will be granting your visa ....(the rest I didn't hear) issues white paper.
I was out before I could open my eyes...I pinched myself just to be sure I wasn't dreaming. In all of this, It was just GOD. I prepared for lots of questions and I got just little.

Here is with an example of reason for denial .... this is from a Lagos NIV VO (a good insider info ) so there you have it. I have always said you need to be accurate and consistent because you never know when what you thought was little non issue or white lie pops up to become a problem.
Your friend can go for another interview but whatever is the problem is not going away easily and might be hard to correct. All the best to him bros it is not good to lie o. i will learn how to lie and they will not catch me sha....... DareFadi:
