BERLIN -- Usain Bolt startled the world again.

The Jamaican sprinting great captured the 200-meter gold medal in 19.19 seconds Thursday with yet another world record. Gitting his teeth and pointing to the clock as soon as the time flashed, Bolt is now 5 for 5 in major sprint events. He has won a gold medal each time with a world mark.

His time in the 200 at these world championships slashed 0.11 seconds off the record he set last year, four days after breaking his 100 mark by the same margin.

Alonso Edward of Panama was second, a distant 0.62 seconds behind Bolt. Wallace Spearmon of the United States took bronze.

Let's do the math. 9.58 * 2 = 19.16 .

If this man can set the 200m world record, running 200m in ~ twice the speed he ran the 100m (only less > 0.03), I think he is capable of setting another world record in the 100m. Specially if he learns to leave the starting gates as quickly as the other guys.

his coach said he does not like the longer events. His coach actually wanted him to do the 200m/400m double but lightning bolt said he prefered the 100m/200m so an agreement was made that if he broke the jamaican long standing 200m record he would be allowed to do the 100m. He destroyed time and the rest as we say is history.

kai seun I don't mean he turned him into a mumu ooo. The 200m/400m double has always been seen as usain's best events since he burst unto the athletics scene @ the tender age of 15 in 2002 winning the world junior championship whilst running times michael johnson did not run until his early 20's. His coach suggested that he should try out the 100m just to improve on his start and speed. He ran the race and slashed his pb by a long shot and so he realised he was good @ it and could get even better. Bolt has always liked the 100m but never encouraged to run it because of his height and stride pattern which are more suited to the longer sprints. His coach was only trying to do what he thought was best for bolt. In other word he was never bossed around just encouraged and discouraged to do certain events. Finally,yep he broke the 100m record first cuz the 100m was easier to attain. Many people actually expected michael johnson's record to stand for over 20 years and it would have if not for this freak of nature.
