[size=18pt]Buhari should ensure that the national maritime university and the EPZ Project is completed.

If this university is in the north he will have completed the project by now.

He should develop an action plan for the region and ensure there is a road map for development of the area. All this short term palliative solution is not the best.

Haha I like this style. The militants will be left with one another to finish off themselves. That's a smart one from the government.

Every policy pursued by this government has been a failure.

Only now do they see their error when rational people saw the issue clearly months ago.

Buhari is fit for cow herding and nothing else.

But the militants want the oil wells back for proper bidding process, no more oil wells in the hands of people who confiscated the oil wells as war booties.

Militants say they want true and fiscal federalism restored to Nigeria., or at least, greater increase in the percentage for derivation.

Some of the militants even want Niger delta republic.

Some want release of President Buhari's political prisoners, Nnamdi Kanu and Ibrahim Dasuki.

So it's palliative giving mere contract to protect oil facilities.

With this short term solution, new militants must surely spring up tomorrow to ask for their own deal

Buhari is a big illitrate.

It is obvious that GEJ has more sense than Buhari does.

No, Buhari used to think that they conquered the Niger delta area the same time Biafra surrendered.

He told his emir that they killed two million people to acquire and enjoy the crude oil in the Niger delta.

When the militants started bombings, Buhari in scare-mongering and name dropping mentioned the US and Europe as his allies to CRUSH the Niger delta militants.

He must have believed that the US and Europe are fools that support EVIL.

clueless government. You have made yourselves slaves to militants, giving them more money to arm themselves and blow up pipelines in future in case you decide to terminate them.

A proper government would take them out, irrespective of cost to economy or human rights noise. What they are doing amounts to treason. There is a reason why you don't negotiate or acquiesce to terrorists....you embolden and empower them and ensure their continuity and that you are always a slave to them.

NICE DEVELOPMENT. there is no gain taking up arms by the military against the militants, it will only destroy the economy in the long run. nice initiative by the government but why is that buhari has not visited the creeks or delta state, bayelsa, porthacourt since he came into office?

How many state has he visited? Visiting those places you mentioned is of no importance, rather he should stay focus and render the change he promised.

This is just a short term measure that doesn't address the underlying cause of youth restiveness in the region. This measure will only churn out another set of billionaires which will fuel further agitations in the region.
The government needs to seek advice from Niger Deltans like Annkio Briggs. I am sure she has a better idea of what should be done to stem the crisis. Throwing money at a crisis has never worked and it will never work.
Of course, many would not see things from this point u came from, they would support this move Granting request of some at the detriment of the others just as the case of under Yar'adua's/GEJ's government. This move solves nothing other than prevent pipeline vandalism while majority of the Niger Deltans are further impoverished just like as it has always being. Some billionaires are to be made, funny a people. After answering these set of people, another new set would surely agitate for theirs, yet the problem goes on...

Even when Cross River is no longer Oil Producing State was included while Imo and Abia States were not mentioned.

We call it systematic marginalizatiion and exclusion.

There's a difference between oil producing state and Niger Delta states. U can be a Niger Delta State without producing oil. Lagos is an oil producing state but cannot be called a Niger Delta State. Niger Delta is a geographic region

And some brain dead zombies critizised GEJ for securing oil and gas installations using militants in those states including OPC in southwest

How come una Baba is doing thesame thing? Shebi he theatened hail and brimestones? As if that has ever worked..

This government would critizise the last one yet they won't stop copying .

That's the fallout of giving in to the initial set of blackmailers by the previous government , more blackmailers saw how easy and effortless the "untaxable" billions were rolling in... Everyone will want to take advantage...

No one should not mistake recognizing the limitations of NOW to cowardice.... Nigerians are facing a tough time as it is, a hard line stance will make it tougher on the average man....

As for a long term measure, how will that be achieve when militants insist on taking more and more without any recourse to their communities, Governors squander their 13%, & NDDC/ND Ministry are beehives of corrupt practices.. ? My bro, it is a vicious cycle that has no ending in sight.. sad
The only solution is the immediate dismantling of the evil contraption put together by the British Colonial Imperialists. Anything short of that would amount to running round in circles.

Let every regions and every peoples go their separate ways and take charge of their individual destinies. Enough of managing the same bad situation since 1914. If Nigeria is not unbundled now, there would be an insurrection of genocidal proportions in no distant future. Mark my words.

So at the end the buhari government will finally zero in to what GEJ did. Yet they have the gut to compare.

Those of us who are reasonable, know that GEJ did everything possible to keep this country going. He did everything possible to end boko haram. If not that the forces behind boko haram were after his office, he really did what he had to do.

This government will do just exactly what GEJ did. They'll talk about sure P, we know they'll do the same thing. They talked about militants, we know they'll do the same thing. Etc etc

I've said quote me at the end of the day, this government may not be able to do more than GEJ or even up to what he did even with a hostile environment. They'll only say, They didn't steal money. But we know politicians in this administration will steal so what's all the noise for.

Check out all the big news of this government even on this forum. It's all about arrested looters. Nothing more.

Those of us who don't see anything big about arresting looters just keep wondering what else they're up to.

One of your colleagues in blood-letting to get oil proceeds from the Niger delta, a HoR member, spoke on the floor of the HoR a few years ago. He told the country that if Nigeria could kill 20,000,000 Niger deltans to have peace to tap crude oil, let Nigeria do that.

Buhari just boasted before the emir of Katsina that they killed 2,000,000 people to acquire and enjoy the crude oil they now enjoy.

PMB will be the best president nigeria will ever have if he leads this country into regionalism or true federalism. This is the only way to permanently stop this nonsense. This is what his supporters should be pushing him to do not defending him like lawyers that did not attend law school.
