How about showing her some love as a sister? grin

I think it's clear now that she created the thread innocently (even though she shouldn't have) without any predjudice to Igbos in general. She has already been critisized enough.

So now that she has taken down the OP I think you should show her sone love to prove that your criticism was not a personal attack. I realize that she called you a derogatory name in igbo first. But I beg you to overlook that and understand that even before you got here someone had already harrased her extremely. So I still insist you take the first step to make up with her as a sister. cheesy

Please don't say no. Ada oma. wink

I thought I asked you to ignore all the further provocations on this matter?

But to answer your question, Afonja is actuaally a historic figure in in Yoruba culture.

I am not a Yoruba person, but while I had never ascribed the name to anyone, I actually don't think the name in itself is derogatory.

It's just like someone calling you Ojukwu or any other historic figure from igbo extraction.

Plus I think her calling you by that name is a valid proof that she did not believe that an igbo person can actually create this type of thread here.

But please note that the above is sure not to justify the idea of tagging crude and derogatory names to anyone (irespective of their tribes).

I want you both to realize that younger igbo girls and boys are seeing what you are doing here. The shameless banter is also getting indexed on Google. While you're both anonymous here, I hope your consciences will be proud tomorrow when you are to guide your own kids on how to respond to internet dissagrements and trolling.

I guess this will be my last comment on this thread. Both of you are full adults and are fully responsible for you actions and inactions.

As far as I am concerned, afonja has always been used in a derogatory manner in this forum. Secondly, she called me an I.diot even after deleting the post which most people will not. That I deleted the post is not an act of cowardice but to satisfy whoever felt bad about my post. And for people to take turns to insult me in whatever guise is totally unacceptable. We are all entitled to our opinions and in doing that, we must consider other people's feelings. I deleted the post not because am a push about but to let peace reign, not that what I posted was falsehood in any form.

She is not the only person that posted in that thread but her choice of words leave little to be imagined.

Peace.

On what basis are you postig this nonsense here?

What do you take Nairaland for? A village square?

How old are you by the way?

Was your husband aware that you were going to post this crap here?

Have you ever taken any time to study how Nairaland works before bringing your family matter here for discusion (with specific mentions)?

Do you realize that this is an archive of some sort with a GLOBAL audience?

Are you even aware that this is internet?

What exactly were you thinking when you created this thread?

Don't you have a family or friends to gossip your issues or discuss your concerns with?

Do you realize how embarrassing this thread is as per the context of the ongoings on this platform?

Please I beg you to delete this post right now before it gets archived.

So so onye nzuzu na asa akwa imeya na etiti ahia.
