It surprises me when people keep saying go and ask their governors and their senators for their money.
For your information the level of development in the Niger delta now was done by the people through their governors not through the federal government. If you have been to the niger delta before the advent of OBJ civillian regime and then you go there now, then you would know that the governors in those region have tried, would you talk about akwaibom, cross river, rivers state, edo state,Ondo and even bayelsa that had no road after years of fending for the nation.
I am not saying they have done superbly but they have brought life to their people at least when you start counting fast developing states in nigeria before you count one single state in the north you would have counted at least 3 from the niger delta

The best governors in the nation have consistently come from the south - CRS and AKS in particular.

And if they don't care about oil then why is this man not agitating for fiscal federalism?

The Federal government is more wasteful than any entity in Nigeria and needs to be trimmed down. Let the states and local governments take responsibility.

How much is the yam, cattle or tomato contributing to the federation account?

And how much is oil contributing to the same account?

You run your cattle, tomato, yam, other agricultural businesses and mining yourselves. Let the Niger Deltans run their oil businesses themselves and pay taxes to the federal government where applicable.

Is that too difficult to understand?

May be you need to start using your brain.

China, Japan, Britain, Germany...nearly all world powers dont have oil.

So why have they not gone extinct?

If not for the destruction of farmland due to oil exploration, who will look northwards for food?

We can produce virtually everything we need to survive even without oil.

We never bought food from the north even before the oil was discovered but we survived. The oil is just a plus.

The same people who invaded our land through military rule, came in and destroyed our farmland so we can depend on them for food.

If an annual revenue from crude oil sales is invested in different sector in the Niger Delta, do you think we'll remain the same?

Calm down, I am pro- fiscal federalism. You guys should be given your oyel.

JKN Waku is wrong by assuming that the SS will die of starvation if the North withholds food supply, just as many of the chestbeaters on NL(and sadly many more offline) believe that other sections of the country will perish if they are deprived of SS oil.
Like I said earlier, we need to get this phase over with ASAP so the rest of the country can focus on other sectors as we are so abundantly blessed.
Last I googled, even less endowed Sudan is still thriving.

See? I'm on your side.

And that includes the FERTILITY of the northern soil that makes yam grow there.

Britain and China do have oil.

China no longer has enough for its needs and Britain's output is on the downswing but their oil allowed them to build other industries.

the bolded is what y'all use in consoling yourselves. Global oil prices fluctuate all the time, its no news. It is worthless but still our major source of revenue that would be used to fund the budget.

NB: Oil will never be as worthless as yam!! [/b]

Really?? After driving away all the oil companies, investors, ruining your farms and rivers, who will come to ur aid? Take it from me, u will beg for back of yam to eat, u no go see!

Those militants u are supporting are super rich already, they can afford to flee. But who will come to your aid when u can no longer fish or farm, who will fix ur roads, schools and hospitals when u contribute zero to national economy. Now u will feel what it is to really live in squalor. Somalia go resemble paradise compared to niger delta

dont mind the tribal bigot.. Fulani herdsmen are killing and raping your women for fun, the hegoat is there claiming arewa...

Last time i check yams, tomatoes contributed only 4% of Nigeria's GDP.. So if oil is out that means the budget will look ridiculously low...

For the love of humanity the Niger delta should continue feeding Nigeria until the other zones have common sense of investing their share of the crude oil proceeds into Agriculture and Technology..

To be sincere, these biafrans were not favoured enough, they didn't deserve the situation there in now, but it's still within them deteriorating condition in which they are. i fault them for not been wise and not developing good clues to fight or agitate their need and desires, instead they end up taking arms to fight government and destroying pipelines which still have negative impact on their environment. They can never get what they wanted if its to go like this. They should revisit their brain nt just d head.
