It will happen in time. There is nothing special about that construction. The more an economy grows, the more structures like that you'll find. The Nigerian economy is Africa's largest, so it's only a matter of time. We even have stuff that resembles that already, but not with as many flyovers.
But it will happen, no doubt. If someone had dropped these images below of modern Lagos to folks in 1952, they would have said ''never in a million years''.

Broda we Dnt Hv such in Nigeria simple....

Does house u drop,go and ask Nigeria age mate,Dey Hv far better....Evn countries younger Dan Nigeria.....

Am Nt bias here,Cuz am a Nigerian..

Besides does pic u drop are Nt Lagos slum pics....

We will have it wen we all agreed that corruption is a crime and stop celebrating corrupt politician. When firing squard becomes judgement for corrupt politician and lawyers defending them. When FG stop sponsoring road contract and give it to private to build and collect tole from users for some years before handing it over on aggreement

Why would they ''envision'' it in 1952? This was Nigeria's busiest commercial street in 1952, Broad Street, Lagos:

Why would the people, then under colonial rule, envisage anything better? Do you think the colonialists were developing the country in any serious way?
that is only one side of the story. This is the same Lagos in the late 50s. Point is things had started developing fast since the 50s and I'm sure the people in mind had something great in mind. Last picture is OAU as far back as the late 60s. Is that not foresight?

lol...my sista, don't mind these people. Look at the same Broad Street today, 50 years later:

As you can see, levels don change. cool

Who knows how it will look in another 50 years?

Probably like a space ship!

So you can never say never, with regard to Naija.

you have hit the nail on the head about our deluded Nigerians. They think it is just by word of mouth and prayer that good things happen. They continue to say "why not?" "it will happen", "no more blackouts by....", "it is well" when everything around them is crumbling and we are fast falling into a failed state meanwhile they continue to protect the looters who have destroy the country. They put up pictures of Lagos and say "centre of excellence", maybe they have never travelled or have google to see what "excellence" looks like.

We take pride in foolishness "nigeria is the greatest country in Africa they say" excuse me, as compared to who, Togo, Benin, Congo, I'm bigger than the poor man nextt to me, are these our yardsticks? Nigeria is the curse of Africa because if Nigeria doesn't get it's act together, Africa can't.

Maybe with China's new Pac-man train

China has almost 2 billion people yet has had free and COMPULSORY education for all its children for several decades.
Awolowo's free and compulsory primary education lifted many of today's elites who foolishly cannot replicate and expand on their inheritance since they are PRODIGAL offsprings of the late sage.
We need urgently to ensure that ALL our children are in school for any meaningful and sustainable development.

The problem with Nigerians is that we appreciate other achievements of nations forgetting that it took many of these countries decades to achieve with every citizen playing a role in the development.. If only Nigerians can think positively about the country and pray for it, we will achieve peace and unity which will lead to faster growth. Weather you like it or not, God has made us citizens of this country for a purpose and it will be better to play a part. The fact is that we are Nigerians and will remain Nigerians.

All we are good at is ,sex food and corruption.
Go ahead, fear the earth quake you have not even experienced. I wonder what will happen if we do.

And those western countries will be waiting for you abi. By that time that current state 50 years will be outdated in Western countries by then.
The west are not gods. Their economies could collapse in the next 10 years, talk less of 50, or they could annihilate themselves in nuclear conflict. Nothing is assured. Go and study history. Even as we speak, Africa and Asia are growing faster economically than the west, so the shift is already occurring. No region or race ever holds permanent dominance on earth.

I know your antecedents, so am not going to join words with pan-afro sill.y confused head like you.
Asia is not a country, you ignorant dunce. It's a continent. And there is more poverty in Asia than in Africa. Google 'India poorer than Africa' and learn something for once in your life.

The fact is that Nigeria will always be lagging behind comparative to other world powers. This current picture you posted of the 'busiest' street in Lagos is even rustic compared to a busy street in a place like Johannesburg or New York. In 50 years time, other world powers will still be too far ahead of Nigeria, this country will still be trying to play catch up.

The OP posted a picture of Broad Street in the 1930s (not 1950s) as well as a contemporary picture of the same street. You should understand that the street is presently not the busiest as civilisation has moved to VI.

Nevertheless, Nigeria has great prospects if only we get things right.

Liar. The only picture from the 1950s you posted was of Carter bridge. The others are late 60s to early 70s.

How the hell do you know all this? Are you a psychic? Or a seer? You have ZERO clue what the world will look like in 50 years. Heck, the west could be a nuclear-blighted wasteland, with a wretched surviving population begging for visas to Africa and Asia. Or suffer economic collapse which can be caused by a multitude of factors. Nothing is assured, especially the way the world is going.

Come to think of it, the very people who kicked against the military every time are the so called politicians, yet the level of advancement we've gotten so far has the bulk of it credited to the military administration even the so called constitution we are using right now are fabrics of the same military decrees they kick against.

In the last 16 years of Democracy in Nigeria, these so called CIVILIAN rules has not forge a simple consensus of thought to come up with a constitution that represent the people, yet when they are asked they keep blaming the skewed constitution as the military's regimes fault.

I am not an advocate for Military rule oooooooo but this our so called politicians aren't bringing joy to our faces, the level of corruption, stealing and impunity is ALARMING. all they know about is their selfish interest. they do a pinch in order to appease the sycophants and ignorant masses to get their votes then vanish into thin air after they win, dem go turn dem sef to leap year.
Seriously the Military had their excesses and ruthless dealings but the kin madness wey dey this civilian rule sef fit make mad man vex say he don taya to mad.
