THE FLYING TANK!? The kind of thing you'd swear up and down is impossible til you saw it-a tank on a transport/bomber.hang glider!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxiWPWsvMXw

There were foreseeable problems and at least one prototype flew in WW2 Russia.

One T-60 was converted into a glider in 1942, intended to be towed by a Petlyakov Pe-8 or a Tupolev TB-3. The tank was lightened for air use by removing its armament, ammunition and headlights, and leaving a very limited amount of fuel. Even with these modifications, the TB-3 bomber had to ditch the glider during its only flight, on September 2, 1942, to avoid crashing, due to the T-60's extreme drag (although the tank reportedly glided smoothly). The A-40 was piloted by the famous Soviet experimental glider pilot Sergei Anokhin. The T-60 landed in a field near the airport, and after dropping the glider wings and tail, the driver returned it to its base. Due to the lack of a sufficiently-powerful aircraft to tow it at the required 160 km/h (99 mph), the project was abandoned.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_A-40

Post war they developed conventional air droppable means for their forces like this BMP with troops inside or the Halo with an underslung BMD 4. Russia's enemies will now never experience flying T 90s landing on their flanks with arty pummelling their front.

The first operational paras were the German fallschirmjaeger, under the Luftwaffe not army, seen here in their successful capture of Crete exactly 78 years ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAeboXo953c

The RN controlled the Med so an amphib op was out. The Germans seriously underestimated Allied manpower at less than half their actual 40k+. As expected they took such heavy casualties Hitler later ruled out an airborne capturev of Moscow. Out of 22k troops the Germans lost a quarter with leading paras losing up to 80%+ plus in some units.
The Germans suffered many casualties in the first hours of the invasion, a company of III Battalion, 1st Assault Regiment lost 112 killed out of 126 men and 400 of 600 men in III Battalion were killed on the first day

Also
The German procedure was for individual weapons to be dropped in canisters, due to their practice of exiting the aircraft at low altitude. This was a flaw that left the paratroopers armed only with knives, pistols and grenades in the first few minutes after landing. Poor design of German parachutes compounded the problem; the standard German harness had only one riser to the canopy and could not be steered. Even the 25 percent of paratroops armed with sub-machine guns were at a disadvantage, given the weapon's limited range. Many Fallschirmjäger were shot before they reached weapons canisters.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Crete

The truth is WW2 parachutes were much smaller than todays T 10 'chutes at barely 50 m2 surface area compared to 75 m2 greatly restricting load out. Compare with modern 'chute.

Johnny Brit, however got his arse royally kicked and at one point screamed:
Awful news from Crete. We are scuppered there, and I'm afraid the morale and material effects will be serious. Certainly the Germans are past-masters in the art of war—and great warriors. If we beat them, we shall have worked a miracle.

The battle began on May 20 when the first fallschirmjager boots landed on Maleme defended by NZ troops and ended June 1 when the remaining 5000 Commonwealth troops threw in the towel. The whole battle would make an Oscar winning movie, but the Anglo Zionists only do self praise on celluloid.

Edit-It was the terrible luck of the invading Brits to run into the same Paras at Monte Cassino,Italy where they defended as ground troops with typical zeal.
On the 15th of February, British troops advanced on Monte Cassino and suffered a decisive setback when met by stiff resistance from the Fallschirmjäger, with a company of the 1st Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment taking over 50% casualties. On the 16th of February the Royal Sussex Regiment moved forward to the assault with an entire regiment of men. Once again the British were met with a determined resistance from the Fallschirmjäger and driven back to their own lines.

One underlying lesson of most African conflicts is that African soldiers are ill-equipped to fight small wars, as a result, they are unable to fight with agility, flexibility, speed, and rapid maneuver. The African battlespace poses specific requirements for defense planners and weapons manufacturers alike.

The Unique African Landscape
A greater part of the African continent is classed as developing and Africa has the fastest level of urbanization in the globe. Any new system must overcome a vast range of terrains, climates and a vast range of potential military opponents; starting from rebels but also including conventional militaries. Since combat in Africa is considered to be largely intrastate, interspersed with semi-conventional inter-state conflict. These are largely fought by dismounted forces, supported by light and medium armoured fighting vehicles, ‘Technicals’, RPGs and artillery.

Many African armies now understand the importance of having a high-tech modern individual infantryman hence, they began their own “Modern Soldier” programs. By applying some of the lessons learned during a conflict to their elite troops and special forces; bringing together innovative, off-the-shelf technology and state of the art military gear and equipment, they increase the overall lethality of the individual infantryman.

After all, soldiers are now benefitting from the move towards digital innovations. These days, many African soldiers deployed on the front lines now carry an array of high-tech gadgets designed to increase operational efficiency and safety, and in some cases, lethality. Their digital tools help them navigate unfamiliar terrains, interact with locals who speak different languages and track enemies during a firefight.

Every soldier and vehicle is linked to a real-time network, in order to track individual soldier’s vitals, activities, and environment. Kombo would increase situational awareness as well as guarantee the soldier’s security.

In 2015, the Sudanese Military Industry Corporation (MIC) launched the development of new combat gear for soldiers of the Sudanese Armed Forces under the name of “Kombo” Future Soldier System. The program aims to provide the Sudanese individual soldier equipment with digital weapon equipment. To that effect, MIC developed the Integrated Soldier Combat System (ISCS or Kombo).

South Africa National Defense Force – African Warrior Concept

African Warrior was designed to be capable of operating effectively during Close Quarter Battles (CQB).

African Warrior concept was one of the USouth Africa’s landmark programs, designed to outfit infantry soldiers with a collection of high-tech equipment. African Warrior was designed to be capable of operating effectively during Close Quarter Battles (CQB).

The African Warrior concept is considered to be the most advanced in the continent, the goal was to increase fighting ability in urban warfare and other situations where large, armoured vehicles and long-distance weaponry aren’t practical....

Informative

My personal feeling is these programs will take some time to get implemented. Spectrum management is a big headache in these programs.

what is in that bulge in front of the rudder?

It is the dorsal air scoop , for what I am not sure , possibly used along with the engine bleed air to provide enhanced cooling of the engine afterburner to further minimise IR signature.
Or possibly it adds to the bleed air from the engine for the optimal functioning of the heat exchangers and cooling unit before being used by environment control system (ECS) by lowering the engine bleed air temperature.
Or possibly both
Or possibly none

Actually I am not too sure of the purpose

Used by submarines to communicate while submerged

IN has both VLF / ELF facilities , 2nd country after Russia to have ELF facility for communication with submerged submarines.

VLF allows for communication with a submarine submerged upto 20 m

ELF allows for communication with a submarine submerged upto 500 m

Interestingly the masts at INS Kattabomman are also the 4th tallest structure in the world.

Also the site is one of the publically known locations in ind..... with Nuclear blast resistant underground bunkers.

US intercepts Russian bombers, fighter jets off the coast of Alaska
By Ryan Browne, CNN
Updated 12:19 PM EDT, Tue May 21, 2019

NORAD Command: NORAD fighters intercepted Russian bombers and fighters entering Alaskan ADIZ May 20.
Washington(CNN) US F-22 stealth jets intercepted four Russian bombers and two Russian Su-35 fighter jets off the coast of Alaska on Monday, according to a statement from North American Aerospace Defense Command.

The Russian long-range bombers flew into the Air Defense Identification Zone, which extends approximately 200 miles off Alaska's western coast.

US F-22s fighter jets and an E-3 Airborne Early Warning and Control System from North American Aerospace Defense Command "positively identified and intercepted a total of four Tupolev Tu-95 bombers and two Su-35 fighters entering the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on May 20," NORAD said in a statement.

"Two of the Russian bombers were intercepted by two F-22s, and a second group of bombers with Su-35 fighters was intercepted later by two additional F-22s, while the E-3 provided overall surveillance," NORAD said, adding that "the Russian bombers and fighters remained in international airspace and at no time did the aircraft enter United States or Canadian sovereign airspace."

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident in a tweet Tuesday, saying the Tu-95 bombers "made scheduled sorties over the neutral waters of the Chukotka, Bering and Okhotsk seas, as well as along the western coast of Alaska and the northern coast of the Aleutian Islands."

"At certain stages of the route, Russian aircraft were escorted by #F22 fighter jets of the #USAF. The total flight time exceeded 12 hours," the ministry added.

"NORAD's top priority is defending Canada and the United States. Our ability to deter and defeat threats to our citizens, vital infrastructure, and national institutions starts with successfully detecting, tracking, and positively identifying aircraft of interest approaching U.S. and Canadian airspace," Gen. Terrence J. O'Shaughnessy, the commander of NORAD, said in a statement.
