Indian Coast Guard vessels ICG Arinjay and two Interceptors along with a Do228 aircraft of Indian Coast Guard successfully apprehended a Pakistani Boat in Arabian Sea with 6 pakistani men and 194 packets of narcotics.

These pics are from the Do228 aircraft which coordinated all the operations at sea.

It is the dorsal air scoop , for what I am not sure , possibly used along with the engine bleed air to provide enhanced cooling of the engine afterburner to further minimise IR signature.
Or possibly it adds to the bleed air from the engine for the optimal functioning of the heat exchangers and cooling unit before being used by environment control system (ECS) by lowering the engine bleed air temperature.
Or possibly both
Or possibly none

Actually I am not too sure of the purpose

Or it could just be an antenna.

Which bulge r u talking about ?

I was talking about the bulge on the spine before the vertical tail fin

Incase u were asking about the the 2 knob like bulges on the top of the vertical tail fin , then those r the RWR antennas.

In my opinion no , another 5-10 years before one can claim so.

Weapons related systems r available as complete systems , sub systems , and at component levels .

So to quatify induction levels without access to official documents is impossible.

As complete systems Akash missile and related radar and support systems is getting inducted , current orders value ~ 6 billion dollars.

ALH and it's variants inducted and ongoing , value ~ 7 billion dollars.

Samukyta , himshakti integrated EW systems, LICEW , GBEWS and various airborne and shipborne EW systems inducted value ~ 12 billion dollars

Etc
Etc

Many systems r works in progress or in user trials , military spents lot of time in testing , on average 3-5 years before certifying the same for induction , then there is backlog at financial ministry etc etc.

Only strategic systems like long range missiles etc get inducted in relatively shorter time. Reasons r obvious.

Bad apples exists in both civilians and military , so for monetary or whatever reasons things get waylaid.

For me , unless private sector comes up as a competitor to state sector things won't improve much.

Large scale civilian industrial participation is a must to cut costs development time and increase innovation and importantly provide open and level playing field.

The silver lining is the large no of startups who have established or r establishing themselves in the defence sector in the last 5 years.

why i asked is because Ind** doesn't get any deterrence value from 'prototypes.' Only inducted complete systems get recognized. Although, India has been in the tech scene for more than 5 years now but they keep displaying this prototypes and its variants without actually using them.

In some country like China and the U.S.A or even Russia, this prototypes would have been seeing some use albeit in some limited capacity. These said countries will be conducting system testing as well as gathering some sort of 'combat' experience in a controlled environment.

These experience and technical data will be re-infused into the system development process which will produce even more better platform. I'm not saying Ind** should deploy half-complete system but most of what they produce are already matured... too much testing could lead to loss of enthusiasm.

If it was russia or the US, belivee me the Tejas (a great aircraft) would have been bombing terrorists by now... For comparison, China actually designed and deployed more than (((SIXTY))) Type 056 Corvettes & 20 Type 052D Destroyers In just 7 Years. that is a new ship every 6 weeks. like they are posturing for war or something. let's not even start on chinese aircrafts.. angry grin

imagine testing a helicopter for close to ten years... lol

However, i like Ind** approach in the area of allowing the private sector a share of the cake..... thats a great spinoff for the future

----
In my opinion, Bramos, Akash, Rudra and other stuffs has been tested enough... tell the Ind** govt to deploy the already.. let's see some action grin grin grin

Larry Vickers took a closer look at another 7.62x39 AK platform the IWI GALIL ACE - Larry discusses issues with optics on this rifle and identified over-gassing. I still like the Galil, which is also popular in the 5.56x45 variant.
