DRDO SMART is a supersonic long range hybrid ballistic cum cruise missile which carries a advanced lightweight torpedo ALWT as it's payload.

The torpedo payload is fitted with velocity reduction mechanism ( VRM ) .

The missile on reaching its target area at a range from 60-650 km , ejects it's nose cone protective shells and then releases the payload. The missile is flying at supersonic speeds which necessitates the deployment of VRM on the ejected torpedo payload to reduce its speed for deployment within the safe deployment velocity.

After that the VRM reduces the speed and stabilises the torpedo and then the VRM is discarded and the torpedo splashes into the sea and its turbo jet pump activates and torpedo begins its search and combat maneuvers.

No exact analogue to the SMART exists in the world today.

One can argue the Russian 91RE1 & 91RTE2 and the American cancelled RUM-125 (sea lance) and operational ASROC etc are similar in concept.

But nothing has ever targeted submarines like this 650 km away.

DRDO NGARM aka RUDRAM-1 anti radiation missile test fire video

DRDO NGARM / RUDRAM-1 anti radiation missile has a dual pulse propulsion system and has a speed of Mach 2.

It can be launched from a height ranging from 500 m to a height of 15 km .

Its range is ~ 200 km.

The anti-radiation missile is equipped with a passive homing head ( PHH ) that tracks sources of radiation of a wide range of frequencies.

It is also equipped with a MMW seeker , to seach locate and hit moving emitters.

It can lock into a target not only before launch but also after it has been launched.

The combination of Passive Homing Head , MMW seeker and INS-GPS guidance system allows RUDRAM-1 to not only engage relocatable air defence targets like mobile SAM systems but other emitting targets equipped with shutdown capability.

This means that even if the enemy shuts down the radar / emitter after the missile is launched, it will still find and hit the target.

Rustom 2 flew for the first time under SATCOM control.

Automatic takeoff and landing capability was also validated.

And first pic with it's long range EO suite was released.

Enhanced version of Pinaka test fired successfully and will replace the existing Pinaka Mk1 version.

Sometime in November QRSAM successfully test fired

The missile is propelled by a single stage solid propellant rocket motor and uses all indigenous subsystems. The Missile is canisterised for transportation and launch using a mobile launcher capable of carrying 6 canisterised missiles.

All QRSAM weapon system elements like Battery Multifunction Radar, Battery Surveillance Radar, Battery Command Post Vehicle and Mobile Launcher were deployed in the flight test.

The system is capable of detecting and tracking targets on the move and engaging target with short halts. The system is designed to give air defence coverage against strike columns of Indian Army.

QRSAM has all the way thrust almost throughout its flight envelope. In addition to that it has jet vane control JVC which allows for excellent manuverability at any point throughout its flight envelope with active thrust on.
