mikolo80:bypass government? how? have you thought about the real definition of government and why countries are being controlled by the government? ask urself why some companies re closing down in Nigeria n relocating to neighbouring countries. thank God for America, we want our country to be that great, but look deep into the country and tell me their government never provided enabling environment for private sector. China became the Asian tiger cause the government evolved thus encouraging people to contribute to the economy. I'll love to hear list of countries that flourished with an irresponsible government |

[quote author=mikolo80 post=48072875] Agric is a very small but very vital link in the chain and also a quick win while developing manufacturing. Does Amazon ship breeze or tangible products produced somewhere. [/quot sir, you are right, but the problem to me has never been agricultural products but other auxiliary services tied to it for instance a study in 2014 revealed that 70 percent of tomato harvested eventually get wasted, there is the problem of transportation, storage, and crude implement(we have to import those),and lack of productive research generated by research institutions, I believe we have do focus more on industrialization and service.plus we really lack God chosen leaders like Awolowo who used cocoa to build university of IFE, Cocoa House, Bojija housing estate offered free education and construct roads |

Re: How Can We Save Nigeria Economy From Further Recession? by Longman6(m): 6:01am On Aug 11, 2016 |
mikolo80:that's where industrialization comes in, but trust me it would probably be imported, and the more machines you use, the more the unemployment rate among the unskilled labourers, |
Re: How Can We Save Nigeria Economy From Further Recession? by mikolo80: 4:57pm On Aug 11, 2016 |
Longman6:so said the Luddites More machines More productivity Yankee and us Who has more machines Who has more unemployment |
Re: How Can We Save Nigeria Economy From Further Recession? by Longman6(m): 7:49pm On Aug 11, 2016 |
mikolo80:I share your opinion, but the use of technology in Africa has a bad side to it which I consider unavoidable, more machines would create jobs for some new guys but few compared to the unemployment it would cause, let's forget about the myth of having adequate manpower, the thousands of unskilled labourers would lose their jobs to the technicians and expatriates that would help this industrialization process till we get our house in order. And getting our house in order is going to come through rigorous investment in the educational sector, where the Guy that studies Agricultural economics would know so much about commodity price, the crop scientist would know what kind of genetic combination would make the soil give good yeids, and the folks who studied agricultural engineering knows the kind of machines that is suitable for the Nigerian environment, till then my fear is that agriculture would just be another oil, we have oil in abundance,we even export it yet you and I still experience fuel scarcity, massive investment in Agriculture would only give the desired result of stopping the impending famine in the short run, in the long run it would just be like another oil if structures are not put in place, |
Re: How Can We Save Nigeria Economy From Further Recession? by mikolo80: 4:26am On Aug 12, 2016 |
Longman6:that's the same thing conservatives said when machines first came up. imagine still sewing by hand or replicating books by hand it's the same thing remember somebody will assemble the tractor, build the tractor, service the tractor, Steel industry, iron iron ore mining, miniNG machine, assembly, building,, service, more Steel, more iron and the cycle continues. new jobs created cheaper goods increased productivity higher living standard ppl will retrain, it's not as hard as scarcity makes it look dem Davido plantation boys built an industry out of nothin it's up to we the youth to innovate in every other sector forget these old men and their top down ''na only dem Sabi '' approach time to take it to the max or die trying dangote is investing in oil change is coming hopefully other looters invest in refining or at least private sector do same we don't need govt to fix the nation just personal will |
Re: How Can We Save Nigeria Economy From Further Recession? by Longman6(m): 6:24am On Aug 12, 2016 |
mikolo80:yes in an ideal society government do not create jobs the private sector does, don't get me wrong, am not against agriculture and industrializing"the process, am only scared of the long time effect of government insincerity, unfortunately this is one sector that can't replicate the success recorded in the entertainment industry without the will from the government, the investment requires massive seed capital from government to start |

Subsistence farming will help Nigeria a lot @ shortrun. We have really lost our values from bottom to top. I remember then when most teachers also have farm lands. |

Beyond that, where is the produce from Agric Sci. Class both in secondary and tertiary level? Household farming is almost fading away... the question is why? |
