Former minister of Education Dr. Oby Ezekwesili took to twitter to warn against selling of National assets.

In a series of tweets, Ezekwesili said " It seems that the default instinct of our political class is "Sell and Spend". Sell oil. Spend. Oil fails? Sell assets. Spend. WON'T WORK!"

She had earlier stated that the delay by President Muhammudu Buhari led administration is making worse an already bad situation.

She tweeted "This FG was handed a LEMON package by the former but it worsened that heritage by a mix of DELAYS, UNCERTAINTY & WRONG POLICIES. #Recession"

Earlier on Daily Trust reported that Senators on Wednesday kicked against the call for the sale of the country's national assets. Senate President, Bukola Saraki had on Tuesday advised the Federal government to sell the refineries and airports.

The Senators made the call when they kick started their debate on the state of the country's economy during Wednesday's plenary.

Contributing to the debate, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu faulted the call for the disposal of the national assets as suggested by the Senate President.

"I have heard about the issue of selling of our assets. I need to caution that other countries are not doing same. UAE does not even allow you to own oil wells not to talk of selling them, "he said.

He also advised the Federal government to consciously release money into the economy.

"Yes, we are saying that there is no money, the oil price had dropped but we were also told that through the TSA we have about N3trillion somewhere. We were also told that the former minister of petroleum returned $20million. We were also told that politicians have returned several billions of naira, dollars and pounds.

Can't the legislators cut down their salaries, reduce aides, and try to adjust lifestyle? For Christ sake! how better would they know the country is no longer producing such amount for them to squander.

People are loosing jobs,
Some are committing suicide
Others can endure hunger to see the next day,
And increase in crimes, prostitions just to make sure something falls down to the stomach.

Yet, our egocentric politicians craved deaf ears to notice all these. All they care about, is how they can sale national assets to maintain their payments.

For saraki to have come out with such suggestion knowing he could have simply throw in a debate to cut down their excesses. I always tell people these set of people called the 'legislators' are never there for the interest of Nigerians.

It should simply be scrapped out as it provides less productivity and help to the nation.

God! How can a hungry man muster prayer when energy is less active?

Please... Heavenly Father!
Destroy all politicians who see themselves first in public offices. AMEN!!

Sell NLNG and watch us buy 12.5kg of gas for N20,000, even electricity will be so expensive beyond ordinary man.

But if they can also include our number one national asset to that list it will be better, i mean Lai Mohammed grin

The idiots that are clamoring for it to b sold ,have only two things in mind
1. They are the ones to buy it
2. Share the money again after buying it.

Tell them oh Oby!!!!!!!!!

The only 'assets' that should be sold are the foolish politicians, they should be sold as slaves. National Assembly should be scrapped.

Why would they vote to cut down their own salaries?

It's quite clear that they are not concerned with the opinion of the electorate and nor should they be - it is evident that Nigerian voters have very bad memories (hence voting for Buhari) and no common sense (hence believing the various APC lies).

There is no pressure on them to do right by the wider Nigerian population and until Nigerians stop being distracted by religion and linguistic differences this will continue.

aptly put...the memory of the average Nigerian voter is a case study..only rivalled by that of the goldfish (which spans for just 3 minutes)...coupled with their utter disdain for history and you begin to understand why and how the politicians have always had their way with them..
