STATE OF EMERGENCY ON THE JUDICIARY BY NBA?
YES, I AGREE. BUT TOO LATE IN COMING.

THE STATE OF EMERGENCY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DECLARED WHEN:

* A JUDGE GRANTED PERPETUAL INJUNCTION ON EX-GOV. ODILI'S CORRUPTION CASE

* WHEN EX-GOV. LUCKY IGBINEDON RECEIVED A PAT ON THE BACK ON CONVICTION AND TOLD TO PAY BACK JUST N3m AS FINE. THE MONEY HE ALREADY HAD IN HIS CAR BOOTH

*WHEN THE PENSION MEGA THIEF RECEIVED A SCANDALOUS PADDY PADDY SENTENCE

*WHEN JUDGES RANDOMLY GRANT INTERLOCUTORY INJUNCTION ON CRIMINAL MATTER. ACCORDING TO THE ERUDITE RADICAL PROF. BIODUN JEYIFO, NIGERIA IS THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD THAT THIS PRACTICE IS DONE. NOBODY HAS DISPUTED THIS.

*WHEN SOME LAWYERS PARTICULARLY SANs WOULD FLAGRANTLY ABUSE COURT PROCESS, FILE FRIVOLOUS APPLICATIONS TO DELAY, FRUSTRATE TO NO END CORRUPTION CASES INVOLVING HIGH PROFILE PUBLIC THIEVES

*WHEN SOME LAWYERS WOULD TELL THEIR RICH CLIENTS TO HIDE IN THEIR CARS, CONTINUE TO HIDE IN THE CREEKS/DESRRT/ABROAD, OR DELIBERATELY ABSENT FROM COURT. AND THE COUNSELS WOULD COME OUT WITHOUT SHAME TO TELL US THAT IT IS NOT THEIR JOB TO LOOK FOR HIDING SUSPECTS. YET THEY KNOW HOW TO COLLECT THEIR LEGAL FEE FROM THE HIDING GHOST SUSPECTS

LAWYER RASCALITY HAS NO OTHER MEANING. CONVENIENTLY FORGETTING THAT AS A LAWYER AND AS AN OFFICER IN THE TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, YOUR PRIMARY DUTY IS TO SEE THAT JUSTICE IS SERVED FAIRLY & SPEEDILY.

*THE NBA SHOULD HAVE DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY BEYOND RHETORICS WHEN CORRUPTION CASES INVOLVING HIGH PROFILE PUBLIC OFFICERS LAST FOREVER IN THE NATION'S COURTS

*WHEN IT IS NOW A COMMON PRACTICE BY MANY LAWYERS TO HIRE ARMED THUGS TO SECURE POSSESSION OF LANDED PROPERTY AFTER A HIGH COURT RULING IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE OTHER PARTY FROM APPEALING THE CASE.
THIS TERRIBLE SELF HELP PRACTICE HAS MADE MANY LAWYERS MORE POPULAR IN MOTOR PARKS WITH THE "TUALE" BOYS THAN EVEN IN NBA CIRCLE.

A NOBLE PROFESSION CANNOT JUST BE NOBLE BY NAME OR HEREDITARY. BUT BY CONSISTENT NOBLE CONDUCT, ENNOBLING ETHICS AND PRACTICE DISCIPLINE IN ORDER TO REGULARLY WEED OUT ROTTEN EGGS.

LAWYERS AND JUDGES WITHOUT SOCIAL CONSCIENCE ARE WORSE THAN ARMED ROBBERS

YES, THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD LAWYERS & JUDGES IN NIGERIA WHO WILL NEVER BE DESPERATE TO BE SUPER RICH BY ALL MEANS NECRDSARY INCLUDING SACRIFICING THE NOBILITY OF THE WELL RESPECTED PROFESSION.

IF YOUR HOUSE IS STINKING WITH LOADS OF DEBRIS AND YOU DO NOT SERIOUSLY BOTHER TO CLEAN IT, BLAME NOBODY BUT YOURSELF IF AND WHEN "WOLE WOLE" POUNCE ON YOU.

LAWYERS & JUDICIARY PLEASE HEAL THYSELF FIRST.

May God Bless Muhammadu Buhari!

You nailed it. Our judiciary is a pure disgrace to humanity and the legal profession. Armed robbers are better than they are. With money as a big man in Nigeria, you can commit any offense and get out of it. That is why politicians can kill their opponents and get away with it.

So the sting operation of bribery in fbi is not politically motivated but economically motivated? Abegi live mata for matiars.
CSTR2:
Who are all these illiterates.? Where do all these people come from? Stupidity everywhere on nairaland.
What the FBI did was a stint operation to induce corrupt judges and hence catching them in the very act. It is completely different from what DSS is currently doing which is probably politically motivated anyway.
Judge Abang is still a Free man for Christ sake. Is there a more corrupt judge out there?

Please what is the meaning of NBA? A bunch of lawyers that benefit from any legal squabble by demanding for their legal fee.Why have they not protested over other issues before now? Now that their pay packet is to be affected they are crying out.

But in a corrupt nation the corrupt citizens will be kicking if some of the corrupt people are being investigated and challenged and probed for corruption fearing that it may also come to their own turn to be investigated.
Also when there was absolute corruption in Nigeria when almost all the leaders were stealing and looting the common wealth of the people and anything lootable, the human right was sleeping then because African human right herself is wickedly corrupt , but now that the corrupt judges are being challenged and investigated they began to back. These are corrupt and dead human rights. African human rights are as corrupt as Africa.

Buhari is the number one citizen and also number one corrupt president. Is corruption only when money is looted, how many election has been conduucted under him as the president of this nation that is free and fair? No one, but all we hear is inconclusive. What he did after edo election shows that he belong to some people and not everybody.

Guy, speak for yourself and stop generalizing.

Nigeria was better than most Asian countries during the era of Awo, Zik and co.
Until the military men took power and centralized the country.

That centralization is the main reason for the corruption in the Country today.

Buhari is also a beneficiary of the corruption.

What has legality brought us thus far? Legality can only be upheld if the law is fair just and unhypocritical but in a case where the reverse is the case then Illegality should be the way to go if it is in a bid to right the wrongs cos in actual fact, an unjust law is no law at all cos such law does not have the morality to dictate to any one what is right or wrong.

Does it really matter what USA does in a similar scenario? Tell those wailers that Nigeria is not operating under USA constitution.

Nigeria should deal with criminals the way she deems fit.

USA jails criminals. Saudi Arabia cuts all the "cuttables". Indonesia beheads them. China kills them.

Nigeria should choose what they do with their criminals without looking up to USA. Isn't Nigeria a sovereign nation?

If they don't want to be raided in the middle of the night, then they should refrain from giving atrocious judgments with impunity.

I advocate firing squad.

MadamExcellency:
A lawyer in USA or Britain is not automatically qualified to practice law in Nigeria - Fact.

Nigeria has her laws and constitution and as such we apply it accordingly.

There are no better custodian of Nigerian constitution and laws than the NBA hence the six living past and present NBA Presidents are saying that the DSS acted unconstitutionally against its statutory and constitutional responsibilities.

The Executive is just one arm of the government in a democracy and doesn't make it own laws.

It is time to defend constitutional democracy and as such fight to stop Nigeria from slipping into dictatorship.

Are you getting the crux of the matter and the direction of the debate?
people always blaming executive arm of government, if things are not well with out looking into two arm of government. corrupt legislator and judiciary. let them screen them, forget copied constitution

Kwi kwi kwi kwi .. continue your tweets for absolute dictatorship for Nigeria under Muhammadu Buhari.

Unless you are a descendant of Othman Dan Fodio who boasted that Nigeria from the Sahel to the Atlantic coast, must be made an estate of his clan, that's how you are unable to see the bigger plot behind Buhari clan's endless attacks on the Judicial and the legislative arms of Nigeria's government of today. The clan hides behind fight against corruption to weaken the Judiciary and Legislature, as well as weaken opposition.

Didn't Buhari himself say that he wouldn't rest until Islamic Sharia Criminal codes are employed in all of Nigeria?

Is this not the first time in Nigeria's history that attempts are being made to insert use of Islamic Sharia Criminal codes into the country's constitution?

What's all the drive by Buhari and his clan to use executive arm of government to distribute Fulani cattle grazing fields to all of Nigeria, despite the refusals by many states in the country?

The grand plot by descendants of Othman Dan Fodio through Buhari now is: intimidate the Judiciary and the Legislature so that little or no obstacles shall be left on the road toward finally making Nigeria an estate of the Descendants of Othman Dan Fodio.

The process was started by military dictators loyal to the descendants of Othman Dan Fodio through creating undue large number of states and consequent political representation constituencies in northern Nigeria by foul use of land mass as criterion. That skewed political structure is why a man like Buhari would be president in the midst of thousands of younger and better educated and better qualified presidential materials in Nigeria.

What is playing out in Nigeria is a REVOLUTION by descendants of Othman Dan Fodio to stamp their authority all over Nigeria through democratic means.

we have been pushed to the wall. The country is in shambles. I don't mind having a strong hand as president. I don't mind if the president has dictatorial powers. But this fight is targeting the wrong people and sparing those in government mostly. It is just that I'm more concerned about the state of the economy, where my next meal is going to come from, and it seems this government is only paying lipservice to it and are downright clueless on how to get the economy buoyant.

You see how few your likes are? Because you wrote complete jargons up there. Stop defending corruption! If the judges were acting according to the laws of the country, there wouldn't have been any reason for the invasion of their homes.

They felt untouchable and have been greasing their hands, living luxurious life and buying estates. You guys will only wail, Buhari is 73 years old and y'all can't scare him shitless. Sanity must be restored.

Foolish Nigerian youths.. educate yourself. The only people that cannot be arrested per the Nigerian constitution are the president, vice president, governors and deputy governors.

No one else. What the DSS did is perfectly legal...

Where they arrested with there doors pulled down, relations maltreated and the entire neighborhood surrounded with hundreds of policemen by 1.00am? You are really working very hard to justify this gestapo style of arrest.
Maltreated? Hmm,are you in Nigeria at all? Do you know a corrupt judge is like a murderer? He kills destines through his wrong judgement. If you are clean you will be fearless. Corrupt judges deserve such treatment bro. If they can push aside rule of law to give wrong judgement,Fg should be able to push aside rule of law too to get them arrested.

Is this still the nigeria that great activities of the 90's and 80's fought to restore democracy and rule of law?

What's has happened to Nigeria and some of her citizens?

Can't believe that the citizens of this great nation are the ones calling for absolute dictatorship., and screaming to hell with the rule of law..
This is not the nigeria I know..
Are they jinxed?

Imagine comparing our institutions with that of a first world country..where institutions ve been built with laid down rules for decades of years.
To compare with ours, that our institution are directly under presidency in power.

From efcc dss, nsa, all are directly under the president. Can we say that of developed nations that we're comparing ourselves with?

Nigeria is finished.

Some time last month..the presidency requested for emergency power tocarry out its imaginary duties, public opinion rejected it,our national assembly rejected it,the president denied it..cos we all know that such power will lead to dictatorship.

Fast forward..

They presidency has forcefully empowered itself...with the emergency power the country rejected...under guise of fighting corruption.

Now every dictator always have an excuse..for being a tyrant...which sway sentiments for them.
Buhari has chosen corruption...and the best option that he believe will instill fear..on the masses..is the rule of law..

sold corruption to his country..invade the judiciary with an unproven allegations. Slander them in public court and let his fans do the. Rest..

The rule of law has just been buried..the judicially caged..and the fans celebrates..he has gotten the power..a tyrant is gradually being given a legit power.

Now this judges..we all may agree they're corrupt..tho no prima facie evidence..all allegations.
Why not follow the process and procedures laid down by the laws..is it too hard?
Why the rush?why the criminality in the action?
No matter au corrupt a judge is..he still represents the law..and can't abscond..why not invite them..through public notices at least..why barbarism ?
And some ovasabi nigerians are hailing this..and even calling out the NBA and. NJC out..haa..this country's finished..

I weep for my country...i know many of these shouting and deriding the rule of law..bet me..have not witness tyranny ..so could hardly understand why well meaning nigerians are against this..

But maybe..there's is a purpose for all..buhari was not and never a presidential option..but they que..reformed and repackaged him.and today we're in recession and dollar is sliding more..

Maybe we allow him to be a dictator..so we will continue with our punishment..yes absolute power.

Maybe tomorrow when there is no nairaland or bellanaija..or media been censored,we will understand, cos they people must be thought au to respect the president and also loyal to the country..
There is and will always be reasons for a dictator.

My Only Disappointment is that DSS didnt follow up with more arrests Yesterday....

Don't worry very soon they will stop paying you sycophancy allowance by then you will change your language. And when the legislative and executive arm will connive to impeach the visionless baga, better come and save him with your hypocritical writings.
