Experienced striker Ini Umotong becomes Simon Parker's latest signing as he strengthens his attacking options.

Lewes Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of the experienced 26-year-old striker and Nigeria international Ini Umotong.

Umotong joins the Rooks after leaving Swedish side Växjö DFF having joined them in July last year. The striker played 13 games for the side in the Damallsvenskan and scored twice.

Umotong’s professional career started at Portsmouth and in 2015 she helped the side win their seventh consecutive Hampshire County Cup, while also securing the league title. She finished as the top goal scorer for Pompey, finding the net 29 times in 25 appearances across all competitions.

After leaving Portsmouth, the new Rooks striker joined Oxford United. In 2016 she was the top goal scorer in the formerly known FA Women’s Super League 2, scoring 13 goals in 19 games. Then in the 2017 WSL Spring Series, Umotong scored four times in seven games.

Before heading for Sweden, Umotong played for south coast neighbours Brighton & Hove Albion. Umotong went on to make 25 appearances for Albion in the 2018/19 season across all competitions.

In the 2019/20 season, Umotong helped Brighton reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, scoring the third goal in a 3-0 win over rivals Crystal Palace.

On the international stage, Umotong scored her first goal for the Super Falcons in January 2019. This came against Romania in the Four Nations tournament third place play-off, with Nigeria coming out 4-1 winners.

I was expecting a better move. I don't know more about her new club but when your rivals are playing in Atletico, Barca,, France and Sweden, you just have to move to a better club. Congrats to her though

She decided to terminate her contract with her Swedish Club because of her studies, she has gained admission to study for her Master's degree... She wishes to continue playing and studying at the same time, thats why she decided to Sign for Lewes FC so she can cope with both as a Professional... By the way they are in the England Women's Championship alongside Liverpool, Leicester ( 2nd Division ) not bad at all....

The German Frauen Bundesliga is the toughest League in Europe as far as Women Football is concerned.. Before you can cope in Germany League you must be very aggressive and Fast...

She's a Complete player, her type is rare to see in Football, Can play multiple position on the pitch, Very Physical, Uses both Feets, Skillful and Fast. Her abilities on the ball is top notch which most of our current player's lack....

just go watch her clips on YouTube to see for yourself...

And yes, I agree. The list is absolutely ridiculous. More like a quota system list. What the hell is Johnson of Cameroon doing there? And such a list should boast a Nigerian goalie not a Cameroonian one. And this list drawn without Ordega??

IFFHS really altered a lot of the truth.

Very annoying. They even put Ohale and Ebi as right and left back. The non Nigerians have a total of zero AWCON combined. Reminds me of peewee leagues in America that every child must have a trophy at the end.
