When Alaba Jonathan was at that age she was also excellent but found it difficult to unsettle Dede and Oluehi for the No.1 spot.. She played the role of 3rd choice from 2010 till she went into International Wilderness (Blame Coaches on this) Even Oluehi was on international wilderness for some time while she was the best Goalkeeper in Belarus and Nigeria Women Premier League then...

She was extremely exceptional in 2012. Funny, I would have always picked her above Tochi.

But people Dede was good in her days. Let us not because of today, relegate the beauties of yesterday. SFN has always had extremely good players and keepers. what they lacked fundamentally is an NFF> Simple. They even had good coaches. The Under 20 2010 coach was very good also. That team was super cohesive.

You shouldn't be saying what were they doing at that age, so because Chiamaka Nnadozie made it to a top Club earlier than them mean now that Both Dede and Oluehi were failures or not good then..

See talk ooo. Are u not the one who compared them in the first place

Schemerkhiz:

Stop that unnecessary hype, Nnadozie is developing fast and would be dependable in few years to come.
But She isn't at Precious Dede level yet... She wasn't even as good as Tochukwu Oluehi yet sef when Oluehi was at her Age...

See eh, we all love her, but the reality of life is, time comes and goes. Who still remembers the extremely beautiful Stella Mbachu and her wing runs. It took time for us to accept she no fit again. Even Perpetua Nkwocha had to take a bow someday. Ugochi is my babe, but it is time to let the caterpillars fly if the older butterflies leave the field. I actually watched Mercy Akide, so what am saying is, we have to let go sometimes

2005 was their year. Ugochi, Okobi, Ordega and Oshoala but SFN just have to slowly find another et of incredible front hoha.

Forget time going anywhere. I am talking right now. Desire Oparanozie is the best striker in Africa.

Super Falcons get invitation for Basque Four-team Tournament
18th March 2021

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Super Falcons of Nigeria might participate in the Four-team Tournament which will take place in Basque, Spain.
This is according to a close source to this Pan African Sports News portal.

It is expected that Jamaica, Uruguay, Nigeria, and a yet-to-be-named country (possibly the host, Basque Country) might participate in the tournament.

The 4-team tournament is slated to take place from 7th to 11th April 2022 in the Basque Country.

Super Falcons participated and won the Turkish Women’s Cup during the last FIFA windows in February where they defeated CSKA Moscow, Uzbekistan, and Equatorial Guinea.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who recently won a FIFA Council seat, Amaju Pinnick have promised to support the Super Falcons with more friendlies in preparation for the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) to be hosted by Morocco and next FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023 to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand after more than a year of inactivity.

Dear parents of youth soccer players,

My name is Jose and I’m a student from the Netherlands and I’m making an app for parents of youth soccer players in Nigeria to inform them about fake scouts in soccer. I would love to have your help for this. It is very easy, you can fill in the survey through this link (only takes 2 minutes) https://nl.surveymonkey.com/r/KYT7FTP
And If you want you could be testing a new app that might soon be launched in Nigeria!

Kind regards,
Jose

Chiamaka Nnadozie extends to Paris FC

Paris FC is happy to announce the extension of Chiamaka Nnadozie. The 20-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper has initialed a new 2-year contract and is linked with the Club de la Capitale until June 2023.

Arrival in January 2020 of the Nigerian championship, Chiamaka Nnadozie joined Paris FC on tiptoe. After difficult first months, particularly due to the health situation, the young babysitter has asserted herself week by week. Now a starter in Parisian goals, Chiamaka has performed well with Paris FC.
The goalkeeper therefore continues the adventure with the club de la Capitale for the next two seasons and is now linked to Paris FC until June 2023.

The whole club wishes him great success in Paris.

“I was very happy when Paris FC offered me a new contract. It really is the perfect place to continue learning and developing. It’s always an honor to wear the Paris FC jersey and defend it when the coach calls on me. I look forward to continuing to improve, "said Chiamaka after signing his new contract.

Congratulations to Chiamaka Nnadozie who's already on her way to becoming the Best Woman Goalkeeper in Africa

Unpaid bonuses: What NFF did to ex-Falcons captain Oparanozie is criminal -Oliseh

Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has lambasted the Nigeria Football Federation over the removal of Desire Oparanozie as the Super Falcons Captain for leading a protest against unpaid bonuses.

Apart from removing Oparanozie as the captain and appointing Asisat Oshoala, the NFF also dropped the former Falcons captain from the list of players for the friendly tournament in Turkey despite her sterling performances for Dijon in the French league.

Instead, NFF and the Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum invited 38-year-old Onome Ebi, Francisca Ordega, and Chinwendu Ihezuo, who had not played any competitive match for any club for over 11 months.

Oparanozie’s exclusion raised eyebrows, with some fans insisting she was sidelined following her part in protests against unpaid bonuses at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, and not for football reasons.

Oliseh spoke while narrating how he was kicked out as the Super Eagles captain during an interview session on PUNCH Online programme, Kick $ Follow on Friday.

Like Oparanozie, Oliseh – who was the then captain of Super Eagles, was banished from the team while fighting for the rights of the players he led in 2002.

He explained that Oparanozie could have collected her own bonuses and ignore others but she acted as a “true leader” by fighting for the right of her teammates.

According to Oliseh, he was offered to be given his unpaid bonuses as a player to the detriment of his colleagues but refused.

The former Super Eagles coach also faulted Super Falcons players for accepting NFF’s invitation after their captain was “criminally” dealt with.

Oliseh also expressed reservation over another player’s acceptance as the new captain of the team, insisting that the right thing to do was to defend Oparanozie’s position.

When asked about how Oparanozie is being treated for her role in a protest against unpaid bonuses, Oliseh said, “What they did to this girl (Oparanozie) is criminal because she did not do anything wrong. Nigeria is a good nation, but we can improve on attacking the victim. The victim, in this case, is Oparanozie.

Her colleagues should have done just one thing – If you punish our captain, we are not also coming. My position at the Olympics helped us so much and I had the support of my teammates.

“What they did to this girl (Oparanozie) hurts me so much and I tweeted that where are your teammates. In a team, you have people who want to wear the band to shake the hands. They don’t want to go through the pains. Those ones will be happy that they punished her (Oparanozie). It is not a matter of turn by turn. You are serving your country.”

He, however, clarified that he had no conflict with the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, before resigning as the Super Eagles coach.

Oliseh said Pinnick and other NFF stakeholders are informed about his new book, ‘Audacity to Refuse’, where he wrote about the golden generation of Nigeria football.

“Our people are not always told the truth. I notified Pinnick and others that the book is coming out. I have no problems with them. I got tired of no support and the way things were going. They spent hours trying to convince me about it (not to resign). I am on good terms with them,” he added.

The PUNCH reports that players and officials of the Nigerian women’s team staged a sit-in protest in Grenoble, France in June 2019 over a backlog of unpaid bonuses for World Cup appearance fees.

Before protesting in France after their Women’s World Cup exit, the team had protested over bonuses in 2004 in South Africa and 2016 in Abuja.

During the 2016 protest, members of the female team stormed the National Assembly after winning the 10th edition of the African Women championship held in Cameroon.

She dazzles, she frustrates. Why undoubtedly talented Oshoala needs to up her game

Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala has seen it all in women’s football. The 26 year old striker has proven herself as one of the world’s most devastating finishers in the women’s game, doing her thing in the Nigerian Women Football League with FC Robo and Rivers Angels, from where the national team scouts noticed her as a teenage sensation and she went on to earn the golden boot and golden ball at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, and has been a part of the Super Falcons set up since 2013.

Her performances have earned her stints in England with Liverpool and Arsenal Ladies, as well as in China with Dalian Quanjian FC. It was however her move to Spain with FC Barcelona that has seen her perform at her best.

Oshoala joined Barcelona in 2019 on loan from her Chinese side initially, but after a brilliant year, the Spanish giants decided to make the move permanent.

Since then, she has gone on to score a whopping 42 goals in 46 appearances for her side, including their only goal in the 2019 UEFA Women’s Champions League final 4-1 defeat to Lyon which made her the first African to find the back of the net in the Women’s Champions League final ever.

In spite of her brilliance, Oshoala has failed to break into the first eleven at Barcelona, and has continuously been used on the periphery as a substitute.

The reason for this may be unclear, but her unwillingness to pass the ball in certain occasions to better placed teammates seems to be a factor to this.

A good example of this situation was seen in FC Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Rayo Vallecano today, when at 1-0 Oshoala carried the ball half the length of the pitch and had teammate Lieke Martens across her in acres of space, but she chose to shoot from a tight angle, hitting the goalkeeper in the process and the chance went begging.

This and many other such chances missed have caused fans of the club to have different opinions on whether Oshoala is needed at the club or not. She eventually scored the second of her side’s four goals with a show of her trademark pace and quality finishing.

Now 26 and at the peak of her powers, the Super Falcons captain must learn to play more with her teammates as this may hinder her from winning some of the biggest prizes in women’s football.

As a player, she is good enough to be in the shout for the women’s Ballon d’Or, but making plays such as these would almost certainly keep her on the fringes at Barca, and you can’t win the biggest prizes from the fringes.

Barcelona fans are not saying anything. It is some Nigerians that are siding with the coach without knowing what they are talking about. Is it Messi that doesn't bypass teammates to go for tougher shots?

Oshoala has not been given a decent run since she has been at the club and her numbers are still out of this world.

The day she leaves Barcelona they will stop being the best club in Spain.

ESPN FC Women's Rank: The 50 best players in the game right now

Asisat Oshoala the only Africa Player to make the List.... Respect

27. Asisat Oshoala

Club/country: Barcelona/Nigeria
Age: 26
Position: Forward

Oshoala is probably Africa's most accomplished female footballer, having won the CAF Women's Player of the Year award four times, the latest in 2019. That was the year she signed with Barcelona, where she's since won four titles and a UEFA Women's Champions League runners-up medal. Oshoala is exceedingly accurate inside the penalty area and is always the teammate you want taking the final touch. Oshoala has continued to impress for the Catalan giants, averaging a goal per game since arriving in Spain, and now that Nigeria have reiterated their status as the premier women's side on the continent, Oshoala is undeniably their premier player. -- Lindsay du Plessis

28. Lieke Martens

22. Alexia Putellas

17. Jennifer Hermoso

9. Caroline Graham Hansen

10 Players to Watch in Barcelona Femení vs. Manchester City

 March 24, 2021

Chelsea against Wolfsburg and the French derby between PSG and Lyon are both tantalizing match-ups in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Those two contests will probably get the bigger headlines due to Chelsea leading the table in the UK and Lyon’s dominance over women’s football for the last decade. Yet, player for player, there is a good argument that Barcelona Femení’s tie with Manchester City will feature the highest number of the world’s best players.

Naming even ten players for this list was difficult, because it meant leaving off Manchester City forward Ellen White, who is second on the WSL all-time scoring list. City teammate Steph Houghton is arguably the greatest captain in England’s history and is essential to her team’s ability to play the ball out of the back. Unfortunately for City though, Houghton is expected to miss at least the first leg. For Barcelona, both Mariona Caldentey and Patri Guijarro just missed the cut. As a reminder, Mariona did this earlier this year.

And that’s who missed the cut.

10. Abby Dahlkemper

The American defender made the move to Man City in January of this year and has been a starter since the day she arrived. Few players in the world can boast that they have won titles wherever they’ve gone, but the NCAA champion, 3-time NWSL champion, 3-time SheBelieves Cup winner, and World Cup champion is the perfect example of a success story. The 27-year-old fought off sepsis in 2016 to become one of the best defenders on either side of the pond.

9. Lieke Martens

After the Netherlands won the European Championship, it looked like Lieke Martens would dominate the global game for years to come. She did win FIFA’s The Best in 2017, but those standards have been a bit difficult to match in the injury-riddled seasons since. The 28-year-old Dutch attacker has never really had a fully healthy season, but when fit, few defenders can stop her. This season she has been both a starter and a rotation option for Lluis Cortes, and having Martens as a wild card could swing a tie.

8. Asisat Oshoala

On the field, Oshoala is one of the quickest and deadliest forwards that world football has to offer. She consistently pops up wherever she can get a goal and that’s whether she starts or comes off the bench. Even without being the regular starter, the four-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year, given to the best player from Africa, is averaging a goal per game since coming to the Johan Cruyff Stadium. Two seasons ago when the Femení made the Champions League final, Oshoala had to settle for a consolation goal in the loss to Lyon, but the 26-year-old Nigerian has scored important title-winning goals since and Man City could be the next victim.

7. Caroline Weir

While Patri is known to score the occasional goal herself, her main task against Man City may be to keep an eye on 25-year-old Scottish playmaker Caroline Weir. Weir has an impeccable ability to move between the lines and surprise the defense with a gorgeous goal. If they choose to cut off her shot, the attacking midfielder can play just as good of a pass. The trouble with Weir will be tracking her movement from the wings to the middle and everywhere in-between.

6. Alexia Putellas

If this was my list of favorite female players to watch, she’d be number one. When she scores goals, they are significant ones and almost always spectacular. In Barcelona’s first match at the Camp Nou in a competitive match, Alexia scored the first goal against Espanyol in what would be a memorable result. The 27-year-old is just entering her prime, yet she’s been a part of the first team since 2012. She is well-known in Spain of course, but the Catalan midfielder doesn’t have the biggest reputation on the world stage. Not yet at least. Being the best player against Manchester City would go a long way to helping her take the leap to being recognized as not only one of the best midfielders on the globe, but one of the best players. Period.

5. Rose Lavelle

If this was ranking the best players at the 2019 World Cup, Rose Lavelle would probably be number one. The 25-year-old midfielder does everything for club and country, scoring important goals for the U.S. to clinch both the World Cup and the SheBelieves Cup. Like Martens and her injuries, the two seasons since Lavelle was on top of the world have been underwhelming due to small ailments here and there. That hasn’t stopped her from still being one of the best midfielders in the world; it just means she’s been one among a few extraordinary do-everything players in the middle. Again like Martens, City manager Gareth Taylor doesn’t always start Lavelle, but she could be an ace up his sleeve in this fixture.

4. Jenni Hermoso

Speaking of injuries, Jenni Hermoso has been dealing with one recently, but was named to the squad list. Her goal-scoring stats do the talking for her as one of the top forwards in the game. 134 goals is good for top scorer all-time for Barcelona and the same goes for her 42 goals for Spain. This season the 30-year-old has scored 16 goals in 16 matches in the Primera Division. What makes her so dangerous is her ability and willingness to drop between the lines and become the playmaker for Oshoala, Martens, and Caroline Graham Hansen. For all the talented attackers for Barcelona, she could have elicited this response when Man City players heard about her team’s goalscoring this season.

3. Lucy Bronze

If Hermoso is fit to play, she’ll have to contend with Lucy Bronze. Whether it was for Lyon or for England, the 29-year-old defender is a winner through and through. She has had some injuries this season to contend with, but when healthy, Bronze has commanded her backline to suffocate opposition attacks with great effect. She is fit now, coming off a Player of the Month award for February, and has followed that up by leading her team to an 8-0 aggregate scoreline against Fiorentina last round.

2. Caroline Graham Hansen

Barcelona were good before Caroline Graham Hansen arrived last year from Wolfsburg, but with her, they have vaulted into the elite. The Norwegian winger has added not only width to the stacked Femení attack, but her ability to deliver some of the best crosses you’ll see in the game gives her forwards plenty of prime opportunities. There is a ruthlessness to her game, one that not only has her leading the team in assists but also scoring eight goals for herself. If Graham Hansen has a quiet day against Man City, it’s likely that Barcelona had a quiet day as well.

Sam Mewis

28-year-old Sam Mewis moved to Europe in August of 2020 and has found new ways to elevate her game. She has three goals in the Champions League this season and three in the WSL, but it’s her timing that makes her special. I’m not referring solely to her game winner in the FA Cup in January, but also her ability to cover every blade of grass during 90 minutes. Whenever Alexia or Jenni touch the ball, expect Mewis to not be too far behind.

Barcelona's biggest strength is down their right-hand side, and City are just playing into their hands. What City need to do is to be on the front foot and go at Barcelona. They need to be bold, and be brave. When they've done that, they've had opportunities.

Nigeria's women's national team have been invited to play in the 2021 Basque Country International Women's Cup next month in Spain.

The Super Falcons would compete alongside three sides in the four-team invitational tournament, which also features hosts Euskal Selekzioa, Venezuela and Argentina.

The West African side are the only African team expected to participate in the inaugural edition to be held from April 8-13 taking place in Bilbao, Spain.

Following Tuesday's announcement, the Nigeria Football Federation is yet to confirm the Falcons' participation and announce their roster for the five-day tournament.
Should Nigeria compete, this will be the second international outing in 2021 following the historic successful campaign at the Turkish Women's Cup in February.

In Antalya, they defeated CSKA Moscow 1-0, and Uzbekistan by the same scoreline before whitewashing Equatorial Guinea 9-0, scoring 11 goals overall without conceding one.

The upcoming tournament will also mark the Super Falcons' second outing under the watch of new tactician Randy Waldrum, who was appointed as Thomas Dennerby's replacement last October.

With the Africa Women's Cup of Nations qualifiers around the corner, the Super Falcons will gear up for the series in a bid to retain their African crown and qualify for the ninth World Cup in 2023.

In the fixtures, the Nigerians would face Argentina in a knockout semi-final encounter in Zubieta on April 8, while hosts Euskal Selekzioa will slug it out with Venezuela in Lezama on the same day.

Winners of the two semi-final encounters will battle in the final for the inaugural title on April 11 in Zubieta, while the losers will lock horns for the third-place spot 24 hours earlier in Lezama.

Omo, this list no follow oooo. What's Monday Gift doing here as a defender naa? angry I know she is versatile and we saw that in the Alanya cup where she played attack and even defence but Isan is right. She is a natural striker/forward firstly.
