jobsat34: My brother, last week I went to a local market in Kaduna, farmers are all happy that they are making good profit from their produce, a bag of maize that sold for last year at harvest for 4k is now 10k, similarly despite the large production of rice farmers sell it for 6k last year now sell's for 10k. This is motivating a lot of youth and okada riders want to go back to farm since is profitable |

Originalsly:am not against ban but against putting the right mechanism for it to strive. I consume local rice but the government isn't supporting the local industry to produce rice without stones. Even if there are alternative to rice consumption, the price will be high |

wellmax: Which Agriculture? What was the National budget for Agriculture? What exigent plans are available for fertiliser subsidy for the agriculture?.... I hate theory....Practical and Reality has shown that our agriculture sector has a long way to go....we shout for local production like we have the capacity to feed the nation...like though we are experiencing waste whereas we're don't....the sharp rice in local rice from 3500 a bag to 14500 a bag is a sign of scarcity of the product...we ban what we don't have and what we don't even have capacity to produce well....For example the rain in the north east was not much this year so local rice farming was bad as this explains the increased price...I suggest we start banning the importation of cars and electronics since innoson and Co are now local producers in Nigeria that can meet out need. |

HAH: My brother I was in that market too....what is worth celebrating about the astronomical increase in price? Take note they will pay back cos I can't buy what I use to buy for 4k for 10k and sell at 6k rather we sell for 12k...the inflation continues 2 Likes |

asuustrike2009:True... to ban is just one form of supporting and encouraging the growth of the industry. There should be duty free concessions for any equipment imported to boost produtivity including mills....and so importamt..access roads. But school me... how does stones get in the rice?..that I cant figure out happening in the milling process. I want to believe stones are added to increase the weight and therefore profits. 1 Like |

400billionman:brother how sure ar you dat it is nigerians dat imported the rice to cotonou. I work around the idiroko border, and i go into cotonou once in a while to play. Its not a rice imported by Nigerians alone n they r not all rice from china o, 90% of those rice or from Other west African countries. If theres no hidden agenda, why import a rice frm china n go store it in cotonou first before bringing it in. Lets reason dat |

BakireBulmaker:if we cannot get a competent person to be a coach among over 150 million Nigerians, then we shld forget about going 4 sports. I can only wonder wah happens if foreign coaches declines coaching Nigeria, will U drag them. Brother support ur farmers. Still, you can just become one if u think you can do better. If you keep thinkin nuffn good can comeout of Nigerians, it automatically means nothing good can comeout of you because u also one of those Nigerians |

Mabpaine: HAH: One thing i have noticed in Nigeria is that we hate competition. We want govt to ban did and Dat before we step up our quality. If our local Rice farmers did what's right we don't need banning any thing competition would have run importers out of biz. Ban never worked on clothing it. Una for say make dem ban fuel importation to encourage local farmers |

sammychimex:i really like ur point sir. Buh u can also look at it frm another angle. If we keep getting option B, its only d quacks dah we be controllin a particular area. Reason why tailors r makin sense now in lagos, dunno of other places is because alot of graduates ar in fashion world nw due to lack of employment.they r gettin creative by d day.now imagine we decide to start importation of clothes due to substandard ones, we wont av anyone talkless of graduate to come n change d world of fashion. Now lets take a cue frm China dat used 2 produce fake stuffs in d past n import lots of qualities frm western world in d past. 2day d story is different cos the president said whether na fake or original, we (china) produced it n we will use it. They banned stuffs comin frm western world. This automatically gave people who feel they can do better d chance 2 display their skills n produce a better stuff. Now evn united states import more from china than china imports frm them. Thats one of the things Trump complained about. Said China av bcome best at almost everything. Nobody remembered they had to endure a period of using fakes n substandard products, which evn us Nigerians laugh about wen U see "made in china" buh right now i tell U d best products U can think of right now r made in china 1 Like |

bayelsaowei: Your not voting is a vote for whatever we have by default You abdicated your responsibility as a citizen Nay your duty and yet wonder why the country is upside down The abroad you ran to You think it just became developed overnight by their politicians No, it was shaped by the voters choosing worse over worst and bad over worse Good over bad and better over best So stop beating your chest that you abandoned your country of origin |
