Is it a dry cell or water one Battery charger told me is repairable but he said is advisable to buy new one because repairing it might not solve the problem.

facing exactly same issue. electrician claimed he can repair it but I doubt. And battery price now at an exorbitant price of between 18k-30k.

It can be repaired. But the big question is are there Geniune replacement parts. I could remember my training days with Robert bosch batteries were repaired but this is Nigeria, you don't want to go down that lane. Buy a replacement battery to avoid headache. The recession is enough headache for man

how old is the battery?...if it contains liquid electrolyte, it has high chances of being repaired or restored
you need the following

1. a good desulphator
2. a good battery charger that can equalize or that can output 17v @10amps
3. hygrometer
4. distilled water, fresh rainwater can serve
5. premixed electrolyte, sold #700 for 4 liters in most places

was told it was the alternator but i have just bought a new one and replaced it.
Though my car has security but was told its not the cause.

k, beta hope then, if u r handy with tools and hv a battery charger, simply discard the old electrolyte in the battery, refill with fresh electrolyte with sg btw 1.255 and 1.275, charge @5 to 7amps for 16 to 20hrs @16v

honmusa has a point, something may be draining the batery in the car, or the alternator not charging it well.

are you sure you didnt leave any electrical load, like parking light, overhead light radio etc on when you parked the car?

I have experienced d same problem, was draining ur car ba3 is not d alternator but it can be fixed by a good electrician. Just get a good electrician to detect d problem n den fix it n get a new ba3

like others have rightly pointed, you should find the root cause! you mentioned alternator , since thats fixed i advise u get a new battery!!!!

Yes, your battery can be repaired but would not be too effective again.
Its better you raise funds to buy a new battery.

PLS Note - Find out from another source if the problem is actually the battery or the charging
system because many a time, a wrong assertion is made only for one to find out that its some other fault.

Every new battery supposed to last at least 2years. If your alternator is ok, it will not take up to 10mins to charge any drain battery. The things that can easily drain battery fan, one way traffic indicator. The. Only time head lamp and inside light can drain battery is when that battery is dying. Then if your care is V6 you need a specified battery for it. A car with AC and other facilities like security. Also need good battery. When a battery is dying, it always start with hard start, it will kick for a while before starting and it will continue like that for a long time till one day it may not start in the morning or you will go for an occassion and when you are about to leave, it will not start.
My advice is go to any good electrician let them check your car first and see if there is a particular issue in the care that is affecting your battery, if there is none, I advice to buy another battery. If they bring cheap battery check if they put any sticker on the body where they writer the voltage and all the rest of them, if you see such, just run because it is fake. Good battery is just from 18k-25k.

op are u really sure is your battery that's faulty?

last Thursday I took my car out although the battery was weak cos is been a while I parked the car without removing the terminal , so I branched in a shop to buy some items but it wasn't funny when. I start the car and refused to start. my mind straight is that the battery is having problem and I asked for battery chargers around who asked me to pay #700 after a lot of negotiation.

he installed the battery but the car refused to start until I called rewire who leta confirmed the the kick starter is faulty. I need to spend extra 6k to fix it.

I will suggest u try another battery so u can be sure battery is the problem

check if the alternator is working well since u said your battery is just 6months

check your kick starter

It is always better to buy the new battery

The shelf life of a conventional baterry is 4months. After this period batteries are meant to be subjected to optimum charge using a battery charger once in a while. Your car's alternator cannot give your battery an optimum charge. That's one of the reason why most batteries do not last in Nigeria asides from the it being substandard

Oga,buy another one,the old one is rechargeable but will not last and you must have spent money and if you're buying new one,go to battery company cos our brothers that sell this know how they rebore battery. Take heed.
