you can't take annual and maternity leave in a year, but if you do, it will be deductible from your maternity leave, therefore take 5days leave go for the vacay, when applying for maternity leave, they can deduct it from your maternity, 5days isn't that much. This is assuming your company operates this way o Terminalia: |

Would like some insights abeg I tried PM but am not sure it went through to you. |

Shawbabe:Speak for yourself. You're not the only vessel of knowledge here, Jeez! And tone it down a bit would ya? Nobody is your child here, stop speaking to people like they're kids. YES. Most organizations appreciate you telling them early on that you're pregnant so that they can have time to sort out whoever will fill in for you when you're out and/or to sort out your PFL and disability benefits and most importantly to cut you some slack when morning sickness gets intense and you can do some tasks, have to go to the doctor or simply just to take a day or two off. I told them I was pregnant when I was 10weeks. Some people make the announcement even earlier. Or she should not have said anything and let them figure it themselves with her growing belly? 25 Likes |

PrinceAdeAde: Hi PrinceAdeAde, I just registered with Oakbend/Dr E. Dr E honored her old price and so did Oakbend because I had the email they sent quoting old prices. I don't know about discounts for returning patients though. Hope this helps |

customised87: I should get enlightened to ancient human resource restrictions Except it's a general rule for Nigerian companies. But the company I work for does not operate under those rules. In fact they try to please female employees in all way necessary because they believe in equal opportunity/no discrimination. Male employees also get paternity leave. So it's for both sexes. 3 Likes |

Viewing this topic: MamaOO and Shawbabe. I see ammunition loading. Shawbabe. You don't have to insult everyone that has a different opinion from you. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. This is an open forum, rubbing minds without throwing insults will be educative and informative. In your organization you are not obliged to reveal your pregnancy until you are ready, good point. With examples to back it up, awesome, shikena. No need for insults. MamaOO highlighted some salient points, which can help other readers make an informed decision regarding the time to reveal. This is a good discourse you are ruining by getting emotional about. 18 Likes |

Shawbabe: You calling someone stupid? Really? Why? Madam, the Internet is anonymous & with some having simple/complex issues in their day to day lives, they have no restraint since they are hiding behind keyboards, so trolling and abuses come so easy & fast..... Take this in good faith & try to work on that thing that "compels" you to be in attack mode majority of the time. If a posts irks you, you really don't need to air your opinion about it all the time... Just waka pass pass!!!! You don't have any intent of correcting/helping people , you just take special delight in ridiculing & demeaning them & that is totally uncool!!!! I (+ a few others) have been accused of being a bully/ bullies on this thread (for telling people the truth & asking them to go and read up) on numerous occassions in the past so you cant claim I'm thin skinned or extra sensitive.... You are a real sensitive one that takes up all baits... Haba!! If you aren't here, this thread will still be here, so chill ehn. P.S.... There is no name you can call me that someone in politics board hasn't, so let it flow, the R button is there to solve it & it's better Justwise gets in here and do clean up duty, ... 18 Likes |

Shawbabe: Not trying to take sides but disclosing pregnancy at work depends on many factors such as what country you reside. The key factor is the terms of your employment contract. For example, as a day rate contractor, you can choose not to disclose as you are not eligible for maternity pay. Such person is not obligated at all to disclose any pregnancy. I have seen contractors work right up to the day before their delivery and they are back in few days later. As a permanent staff, if you are entitled to maternity pay, then there is a deadline to inform your employer which is usually around the second trimester. This is to give them time (as well as DWP) to process your maternity pay. Maternity leave isn't compulsory. Some women chose not to have it. I do agree that the rule of not taking both annual leave and maternity leave the same year is rather weird and unfair. Only an unscrupulous employer will come up with such. As an employee, you are entitled to annual leave (this is your basic employment right) and as a pregnant woman, you are also entitled to some time off (if you choose to do so) - this is also an employment right. 1 Like |
