I resigned from my former place of work about 8 months ago when i got a better job. I had no issues with them during the 4 years i worked there. My former employer has been promising to pay me my remaining benefits without fulfilling this promise for about 8 months now.

Please Nairalanders, what options can I explore in order to get my hard earned money. Its obvious to me now that I need to tow another line of action if I must get my money from my former employer. I equally think its high time the government sets up a body to address such injustice in the society.

Just sue him.
If you have contract agreement with him.

Taking him to court might take a longer time.

Get a lawyer involved, the threat of a lawsuit does wonders...try it and see.

If you have employment contract get a good lawyer and sue him. As soon as he gets the court summon he'll start paying you.

Get a lawyer, let ur lawyer do the work. You might not get to court before u get ur money. Don't rush to court unless he is adamant which I doubt. Do this and thank me later. Never rush to court to settle a case, consult a lawyer.

This is like my case. Mine is 7months after resignation and he doesn't even take my calls again. When I go to the office, he will ask his secretary to say he's not around

My own employers never even paid the arrears of 8 months unpaid salaries in 2000. I left and started my own company with seed grant from Bishop Mike OKONKWO, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM). And today I have two more active companies with an award as a top publisher in Nigeria and assets valued at millions of US$.
