modath: On a serious note, imported palm oil from Malaysia is cheaper than locally sourced palm oil. **** modified nwaanambra1: Read my lips please. The innosson fractionation plant commissioned by Osibanjo few weeks ago cannot function because there's no palm oil to test run it. Secondly, Unilever dismantled its fractionation plant more than 10 years ago because they cannot afford Nigerian Palm oil and moved it to Ghana who now supplies Unilever Nigeria with blue band 1 Like 1 Share |

nwaanambra1: why should it surprise. you, the petrol in your car and diesel in your gen is imported. look somebody came up with an idea to package Nigerian foods for convenience, it's a good idea, however he can't do it in Nigeria because we have no infrastructure, electricity etc. Erisco is leaving Nigeria to manufacture his tomato paste abroad, where is he going to sell them if not the same Nigeria? It just doesn't make economic sense to manufacture anything in Nigeria!!! In developed countries you have an idea you take it to someone who has a plant and they manufacture it for you while you grow. In Nigeria if you have an idea you have to set up your own plant, it's just too costly. If the guy has broken no laws, customs has no right to seize his goods based simply on sentiment. Why doesn't customs seize all the PMS and deisel cargo and say it is an abomination for Nigeria to import petrol? 5 Likes |

While condemning this act, I blame the Federal Government for the most part. Truth is, its very expensive to run a business in this country. Most businessmen find it cheaper and profitable to import than to produce in this country. The government should create a conducive environment for business to thrive. |
