Truth is that it actually began with Obasanjo and continued by Jonathan but Buhari gave it a sudden boost by banning foreign rice and the price hike made it extremely profitable for local production. I joined rice production this year and made quite a fortune which was impossible before price hike.

Had Yar'Adua continued with Obasanjo's well planned policies we would have gone far by now. Yar'Adua distorted a lot to win the heart of Nigerians mainly because he came in via a flawed electoral process.

Your logic is funny? How old are you? Is rice just being banned for the first time? Why hasn't the ban on chicken had the same effect?
The truth is that there is no such thing as a sudden boost . A woman does not get suddenly pregnant even though you may suddenly notice

There is a lot of learning involved in increasing agricultural production fro season to season. Planning where to plant how much to plant ,where to get high yielding varieties that are suitable for Nigeria. Farmers are not stupid. If someone brings a seed or any new variety they will test it out in small amounts and codify the learning this takes several seasons. To believe that banning rice has anything to do with rice output is really naive. If we go through our history rice has been banned for most of our post independence life. Adeshina greatly improved the access to fertilizers and rice planting took off under him . The farmers have now gained confidence to invest more and take bigger risks . If you know anything about farming,which I doubt ,you will know that people invest based on experience not theory,they start small and grow with time

No Obasanjo was not in government in 2013 . The initiative started over 2004-2006 when he actually WAS IN government.
