Would this mean i can call Lagos and ask ,question about any particular person ¨that is registered ¨ and they will be able to give info

Further example, who will determine data-protection? Lagos or FG?

Can such data be use for Political purpose?

what if PDP started this is aim to win people to AC from back door?

Most of our problems, we copy things from USA without thinking properly.

I am also sure you might not know that a foreigner can also get resident permit cos it seems u dont know so many things as regards the above topic

They get FG issues 'resident permit' to go about in Nigeria and not that from Lagos state.

From answers I have seen here, Fasola & his boys need more planning.

Good Luck!

So, should your listed concerns prevent or stop Lagos State Government from advancing, developing it's society and absorbing the immense benefits the ID program offers?

And when you say they need planning, what in particular are you talking about?

State ID? that's not a bad idea but, first before we need to ask ourselves few questions.
1)Why do we need State ID?

2)How do we go about it without the reflection of the late National ID scheme?

3)What is the State ID Propaganda all about?

We all need to wake up to the reality of Our time.

Tax system, law enforcement and public safety, banking and credit system, statistics and population control, it allows policy-makers to rationalize processes to implement schemes which balance the costs, budgeting and planning.

2)How do we go about it without the reflection of the late National ID scheme?

This has nothing to do with anything federal. States collects taxes and state officials and policy makers have every right to identify by whatever means tax payers within their states, either to access state benefits or for proper planning and budgeting.

3)What is the State ID Propaganda all about?

I have no clue, you mind explaining further?

We all need to wake up to the reality of Our time.

What reality of our time do we need to wake up to?

Identification system is the basic building block for any sane and civil society. How do you function effectively and provide good service if you don't know who is who and how many people you're budgeting and planning for? It's like fighting blindfolded with your hands tied behind your back.
Re: Lagos Citizens To Have State Identity Card In 2010 - Fashola by babapupa: 3:34am On Nov 26, 2009
ID system is already in use in Lagos state, school kids in Lagos state have Unique Identification Numbers like US's social security number.

Lagos State Government Education Management System (LASGEMS)

LASGEMS web-based version is to be commissioned soon for on-line and real time usage by Lagos State public/private primary and secondary school managers, education sector managers and other registered users like foreign missions in Nigeria, institutions, etc.

This innovative education management tool backed by law, maintains lifetime comprehensive database for all schools, pupils and students beginning from 2005/2006 academic year. It manages history of academic and administrative records including schools attended, disciplinary issues, etc. Other features include annual placements to public schools, admissions, student transfer management (public and private schools), examination planning and registration, etc.

Each student is assigned a unique Student Personal Identification Number (SPIN) and duly registered students are issued government identity cards. The ID card is a mandatory carry-along item for every student/pupil whenever in school uniform or participating in any education related activity.

School manager (Principal/Head Teacher) will be assigned user Login ID after school's administrative clearance/certification by appropriate government officials through the system. Thereafter, school manager will create his/her staff Login IDs. LASGEMS multimedia interactive user training will be provided.

exactly!

FG owned the police, what happens to your ID when police stop you and thats all you have?

Population control? So each state can inflate their population by bogus ID?

The point: as good as it is, it cant be done in isolation.

We already have never-end problems with census figure.

Exactly what??

What's federal police got to do with state Id? Are we talking about state ID or federal ID abi na federal government issue the card on behalf of the state?

Is it a federal requirement that federal police must ask for and use state ID to further their law enforcement activities? And who cares what other states are doing? Is Lagos state responsible for what other states are doing or not doing? Try use your head small.

Law enforcement and public safety is not limited to the Nigerian police, the state also enact and enforce laws, they have magistrate, civil  and criminal courts so proper identification within the state is still an integral part of state wide law enforcement including traffic and transportation codes enforcements.

Lagos state is in charge of it's own destiny with mandate granted by state residents to protect and look after all residents.

How do you function, serve and provide for your people if you have no clue per  how many people you are providing for? In your personal life, don't you budget and plan based on what you have and how many people you're providing for in your household?

And who cares about your census, Lagos state is free and have every right to determine the best and proper way to manage it's affairs and if Identification remains the best way forward, so be it. The only form of Identification states can not mess with is passports.

What do you think a state is gan sef? A freeking federal government parastatal?

It's really a pain going back and forth with folks who's head is already buried in the ground. I'm just glad and relived that backward thinking and can't do spirited people  like you are not part of the decision making body over @ Alausa.

No be by force, just refuse to accept if den offer you one.

You can fake it just for the heck of it, but it's pretty much useless because you can not fake genetics/biometrics or derive any kind of state benefits with your fake ID, they have scanners to detect fakes. It's biometrics based for a reason.
Re: Lagos Citizens To Have State Identity Card In 2010 - Fashola by DisGuy: 2:00am On Nov 27, 2009
Who will pay for it?

Ikuforiji said while Lagosians in several constituencies commended the efforts of the state government so far, the House members had observed "some shortcomings and uneven spread in our developmental efforts."

His words: "Over-concentration of efforts at the centre at the expense of the upcountry tends to isolate a big percentage of our constituents to the extent that a simple mind will simply not agree that users of Aboru Road, Ire-Akari/Ilasamaja Road, Lagos-Ikorodu Road, Itoikin/Epe Road, Pen Cinema-Ishaga Road, are bonafide residents of our great state."

I think dis ting is hilarious see all deez people yarning and making noise. Maybe you people are part of those living in Lagos state making money and evading taxes. Any sensible legal working tax payer who is a resident of lagos state would be for State IDs. Only those who arent residents or paying taxes would be fearful. MIND YOU I SAID RESIDENTS NOT INDIGNES or yorubas.

Fashola Advocates Accurate Census Figure As Bases For Good Governance.

Speaking on the topic, “Ethics and Good Corporate Citizenship, the Lagos Experience”, Governor Fashola declared, “If we do not resolve this fundamental issue very quickly; if we do not know the number of people in the country, how do we know how much power they need, how much water they need, how many houses they need, we can never get it right”.

The Governor lamented that even the basic information from individuals which are also fundamental in building up data for good governance are lacking, pointing out that people are unwilling to give such basic information as their ages, residential addresses, date of birth and other related information that are necessary for building up essential data.

Likening governance to staging a party, Governor Fashola queried, “How can anyone stage a party without knowing the number of guests that are expected? That is an invitation to chaos.”. He wondered why people shy away from giving such information at home while they readily do so at the entry points into foreign countries when they travel abroad. “Citizens must sign on. They must let us know that they exist”,
he said.

Only NPC which reports to FG can determine the CENSUS figure!

If he wants accurate figure, He shoud be taking with FG and other state governors!
