(5) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (4) of this section, the President, in consultation with the Nigeria Defence Council, may deploy members of the armed forces of the Federation on a limited combat duty outside Nigeria if he is satisfied that the national security is under imminent threat or danger;

The president only exercised his powers under the above section of the constitution. Beside, did Jonathan consult the Senate before deploying troops to northern Mali in 2013?
jonathan matter will send you to your early grave...is jonathan the only president that has govern this country?

You know nothing about world politics.

With the current political stalemate in Gambia, NNS is under threat. Considering Nigeria's position in the African committee of nations, Nigeria cannot afford to 'sidon look'. Outbreak of war in Gambia will definitely affect Nigeria. No country, no matter how advanced she thinks she is, can stand alone.

All eyes are on Nigeria to handle the issue in Gambia precisely. Nigerian government did the right thing for the preservation of life and properties in Gambia
Oga under a sane country there would have to be a vote the way the Nigerian constitution is worded, but 9ja anything goes.for Britain and the US to send forces into Asia there was a vote.But tie thing is Nigeria and its leaders dont read teh small prints

Seriously, what has the Nigerian constitution got to do with ECOWAS?, I think it is worthy of note here that we are talking modalities for sending troops abroad anywhere in the world,Even if ECOWAS request troops they still have to go to the house for agreement.It would have to depend on our interest ,This is the reason you do not see the US unless the have interest.

ECOWAS mandate apart from growing trade among member states is to maintain security in member states as well. Its the ECOWAS charter. I wish I could lay my hands on it.
Meanwhile ECOWAS requested for troops,and every nation Obliger. No law was broken.
Stop hating what you don't understand.

Are you alright at all?. If the majority of Nigerians were satisfied with GEJ he would have been re-elected, now they elected another person, yet you still want the person to repeat the old errors. Why the change in leadership if the masses wanted to maintain the status quo ante bellum?
